If Bill would just listen, this would be a great opportunity to hear John tell stories you'll never hear again. . . . . blowin' it
Exactly! It would have been great to hear from John more…. Bill truly wasted John’s time. I’m glad we got some tidbits out of it…😢
He is trying to impress John total loser
Bill ALSO hogged the first half, at least, of Cameron Crowe!
Fuck yes. Always get his opinion , not the guests interesting stories.Getting wasted and mattering on and on is so fucking boring.
it's continuously irritating. fogerty is a rare interview and still is because bill didn't interview him.
Seems like Bill was more impressed with the fact that he's been listening to CCR for over 50 years, than the fact he's actually sitting across from John Fogerty and getting to talk to him for almost 2 hours.
Shameful egotism , Bill. Rude as well. If pot makes you like that you should quit.
Totally agree. I was so happy to hear about Bill seeing CCR than John Fogerty talking about performing there. Smh
yep,,,horriblr
Bill’s MO is to always steer the conversation toward a basket of topics about which he loves to perseverate and in the process bore the hell out of anyone who hasn’t turned him off.
BILL SHOULD INTERVIEW HIMSELF AND SEE WHO GETS A WORD IN EDGE WISE.
he loves this idea
bingo
Omg he never shuts up! And his toilet pouring is annoying as f
I was juuuust thinking the very same thing! He cherishes his own views and opinions more than ANYTHING or ANYONE. Would have loved to learn more about John's musical experience.... hélas.....
This was the beauty of the Mellencamp interview. He did not allow for Bill hijacking the video. Probably for the fear of getting popped in the face.
Bill arguing musicianship and songwriting with John Fogerty is hilarious
next up: Bill lectures Bob Dylan on songwriting.
Bill thinks his iPod playlist should get a Grammy!
@@plumerjr 😅 Seriously. This is embarassing and on that level.
Yeah, like Bill knows jack doo-doo about musical structure. I I like the interview, but Bill talking about good and bad music..... well that's a joke.
Next up, Bill channels Charles Mingus, and Bill tells Charles what music sucks.
Fogerty is so patient and gracious
And he's got a great sense of humor and a charming smile. Despite the bad hair, it's very hard to believe he's almost 80!
@@carlwilliams6977 At his age he doesn't care about "bad hair"
@@keto6789 That's obviously not true. It's his effort to hide the fact he's old, that makes the hair bad! He's so cool in every other way! BREAKING NEWS.... Nobody makes it to 80 without gray hair! You're only kidding yourself
Vanity is a funny thing.
@@carlwilliams6977 So what? So he wants to look younger and dyes his hair. As long as HE'S happy that's all matters ....
@@carlwilliams6977 Society judges people that have gray hair and he's in the public eye, so he may do it for various reasons. If he wasn't in the public eye maybe he'd be bald and gray. When you're 80, you don't care about your looks that much. You care about your HEALTH! I'm 50 and I'm mostly bald and white hair. Society says I'm an old man, but I feel just like a 35 year old. So if I want to paint my hair to create an illusion so that society may think I look younger that's my choice. Doesn't change WHO I am ... We all die in the end .... do what makes YOU happy
The problem with this podcast is Bill invites these great guests so he can talk about himself and his life to them.
He's a moron
Spot on analysis.
Yes this is the premise of the show. I don’t know if Bill invented this style or if it was done before.
@@ZkbbkzzzRogan is guilty of this sometimes as can be Tim Pool
exactly the way you're supposed to interview someone, let them talk and talk and talk. good job Fogerty.
😂
😂
Lol
@avantgardenovelist I had to re-read what you wrote to get the beautiful IRONY!!!! Thanks for the laugh.
@@lynnlobliner3933 😆
I wish Bill would reveal himself more. He's so quiet and introspective. Modesty is a humble honor he showcases to enlighten us all. PUKE
and yet the show goes on and on despite his nauseating narssicism. at this point he may as well come out as pro-trump.
John Fogerty for almost 2 hours and what did we learn... Bill Maher has a great playlist on his iPod.
This one did it, I don’t want know anymore about Bill can’t shut up Maher and let the guest talk
When Bill said, "I'd love to sit around with you and listen to MY playlist"!!! F***ing cringe!!! Dude doesn't get it!
He’s got lame taste in music period,
He's mentioned his iPod curation on at least three Club Random interviews.
In his mind, it's great! Also, in his mind, he believes his iPod playlist deserves a Grammy!
Bill's obnoxiousness level is dialled up to 11 in this interview. Kudos to John for being so easy going.
The highlight has to be when he’s taking about his early work and Bill so eloquently says “I don’t give a fuck about your early work, I care about your hits”. I was literally in shock…like, really Bill. That’s low; even from you.
Please let Fogerty talk.
Annoying isn't it. Maher is self obsessed and rude. He doesn't even offer his guest a seat or a drink....sits down before his guest does etc. And he ain't funny.
@@andydixon2980yet you still watch?
@@andydixon2980At least Bill isn’t offering a drink with ice cubes he scooped up with his fingers. 😬
BTW please slow your roll and listen more to your guests, let them Finnish their point or opinion.
Think bill was getting f*ucked up.
Several times I found myself saying, "Welp, guess we'll never know the rest of THAT story". Holy shit, Bill, learn to stfu.
Agree
Right! I totally agree. Would have loved to hear some of the rest of John's stories. In the meantime, I'll look for other interviews with John with someone else.
Agree phil I've said it so many times STFU Bill !!These 2 are Clueless to how Great a President Trump was due to their long tired Liberalism.
Preach. I only watch if the guest is of particular interest. When John starts to talk about his influences Bill buts in with "I don't care about that" , what a shame he will never change.
I'm going to bet Billiam has no use for visiting commentland..
John Fogerty is a class act! Thank you John! And bless you for sitting through HIM!
John Fogerty is an amazing guest! If only Bill could STFU once in a while and let the him speak or get to HIS point. 🤦🏻♂️ Not the only time, but it’s especially rough when you have a jewel on the podcast.
Exactly!!! But John is such a good sport..There is a child like innocence to John....
@@newspapertaxis1 That innocence shows in not understanding his band mates jealousy. After so many hits and so much money they wanted more input into CCR product; the reality was that they could do what they could but they could never be the talent John was.
Whenever Bill gets shitfaced you can depend on 2 things….talking too much and
Trump bashing! Needs to minimize both.
@@389383 So True!!! Without John...There
is NO Credence.......
I'd just returned from Normandy and watched this interview when I got home. I mention the timing because, while there, I was walking alone through this quiet little village (maybe 800 residents) on the Seine River. As I approached a small plaza, I heard music coming from the open windows of a nearby apartment. I couldn't make it out until I got close enough to realize it was "Fortunate Son." Vivre CCR!
CCR’s music is timeless and soul stirring. I grew up listening to them thanks to my dad, and my kids also now like them. My two year old loves Midnight Special!
Great story! Thanks for sharing!
Bill, go to your room. You were rude to John Fogerty...the nicest guy on the planet, and you're a fan!
I thought he was extremely rude too! Just because someone doesn’t agree with his opinion doesn’t make them wrong or stupid. Rude!
Same feeling here
@@amberreynolds699 Is the turning into Andy Rooney?
@@amberreynolds699 Interrupting and rude several times to John! Ridiculous, johns a Pioneer and humble! Saw JF at hollywood bowl 5 years ago. Powerful performer, amazing tight set, voice unreal. He's being gracious to Bill. My god, Bill's drunk again. Mahr is jealous a lot.
😂! John is so nice and polite and had great stories I wanted Bill to let him share fully. I do hope they do get together to listen to Bill's music collection at John's home up north. That conversation would be really cool to see and hear.
Thanks!
Are Bill’s producers too afraid to tell him the majority of comments are telling him to shut up and let his great guests talk more?
Was wondering the same thing. Do they read these? Because it would be most helpful. On the other hand, we keep listening, so maybe they like the fact that we get all riled up. I don't listen to CR as much as I used to. I can only take so much of Bill being a jackass and interrupting these legends who are so gracious. I do think it's the weed that makes him ramble incessantly (speaking from experience).
@sabbracadabra8367 Ha! Nailed it!
I was thinking “jesus at some point Bill is just going to sing for John” and about a hour in a half in he starts singing the intro to white christmas! 😂 you cant make this up!
Bill doesnt listen, Fogerty Says his wife makes his shirts, and Bill should have been impressed.
A very loving wife, it seems
Yeah I would have loved to hear more about that or at least an acknowledgment from Bill
I so much wanted to hear all about the shirts Julie makes and Bill just ignored it all. I bet there's great stories there.
Shame on Bill. Peace and love
T@@roxannetoth5026The shirts have two sleeves and here it comes .......a pocket😅
Bill is against married life
It’s all about Bill. You’ve got John Fogerty sitting next to you. Focus a little more on what interests him. You might not care, but your viewers/ listeners might.
Bill actually told him he didn’t care more than once!
So great to watch Bill teach John about music.
Hhahahahhah love it
😂😂😂
Luv ur sarcasm but Bill is so full of himself he probably won't even recognize it.
Hahahaha
When Bill starts with, "There is not a bigger Beatles fan than me.....," that is the cue to go to the window for fresh air because Bill is gonna let one rip...
I didn't know John Fogerty is so down-to-earth. Such a legend of music.
I love John Fogerty! Oh, that powerful voice - awesome!
He was also so nice to Bill who used the time they had together to try to impress John with his knowledge of music. It felt like Bill was constantly trying to one up him. Bill often comes off as incredibly insecure. John was a true gentleman and handled Bill well.
Couldnt get enough of them then as now,,they were always on in the motorcycle club's juke box, hated it when they broke up,i still listen to all the songs, they are my trip back to the best days of my youth, motorcycles and CCR,a close second is Cream, thank you Bill!
He's got John Fkn Fogerty and Bill just has to talk about himself. Jeez H.
Like we give a s*** about his playlist right and then Fogerty gives in "Yeah yeah go on"😂😂
Somebody give Bill a bong...maybe he'll shut up for a few minutes
Bill is always boring.
Yes
Hey JOHN FOGERTY what a great Sunday chat. Too bad we can’t hear anything ,because Bill won’t shut the F up.😤🤣🤣😂😂
He never shuts up
@@MoneyGrip70 Because he's single and theres no one to shut him up. Thats why he only got a 2 yr renewal.
This was a great and informative interview whenever Bill shut up long enough to let him talk.
Bill, please let your guest finish a sentence; finish a thought.
Amen. If only Bill's ego wasn't so fragile and he actually read these comments, it would do him some good.
I agree. Is it because he's stoned? Just breath & allow some space to listen to the guest.
U guys dont get it. Its not meant to be an interview format. Its two pple just chilling & chatting.& drinking...hence the slurring that happens too. U know how friends interject when a sentence is understood & pple are comfortable with each other...women tend to do this more & the convo overlap likr this & they are getting each others meaning, but men tend to do it less. This isnt about anyone's ego, plus they are drinking -be cool & get off Bill's nuts
That’s what I’m saying
@@laurelwild735He's doing better than I would. When I'm stoned I can't hold a convo.
Awesome show! I've always wanted to see John Fogerty sit and listen to Bill talk for two hours
Bill, please let your guests finish their sentences!
For the love of god let the guest talk
This is beyond than annoying
He's a bonehead, he never shuts up
Fantastic show, John does a great job of interviewing Bill!
Yikes. Bill... I love ya, man... but PLEASE listen more, talk less. You have such great guests, yet do not let them talk. Fogerty has a lifetime of rock and roll history to share, and the majority of this interview is you interrupting him. Please stop talking over your guests and let them finish a sentence.
EXACTLY!!!!!!
he’s a looser
You’re missing the whole point of the show, it’s supposed to be loose and off the cuff, that’s why these are great videos
He doesn't read the comments... And it won't change. He knows it all. 🤦♂️😂🤣
IKR..HE'S SO FLUCKIN ANNOYING!!! GD schmuck
It’s pretty funny listening to Bill try to “big dog” John about music (a guy who was actually there, in that scene), and John is so gracious and unbothered by it. All class.
70% of this is Bill talking at John.
Katie mentioned his great staff and how nice they were and Bill said they worked with him forever. Are they afraid to make suggestions? They have to see it too.
Conservative estimate!
Every guest, every week. Bill obviously does not care a huge number of his fans and watchers feel this way. At first I thought it was because he was really wasted, but it’s the same when he’s not.
@@tdakard9743 He doesn't care because he's been doing this for decades, he's 67 set in his ways and he knows it's the guests that bring people in. Every time we hope it's better if we like the person. There have been worse and some aren't bad. As long as we are curious enough to look, he's good.
I think y'all are missing the point of the show. It's not a formal interview. It's about two people sitting around talking about random stuff. With this format, you learn a lot about the guest rather than if it was a Barbara Walters special. The guests seem more relaxed and open. Yes, Bill can dominate the conversation at times, but I think that helps keeps things rolling and puts the guest at ease.
I was super excited to hear John Fogerty was on the show, but Bill is interrupting to the point of disrespect a few minutes in already. Maher is a drunk bull in a China shop. John Fogerty is a great storyteller who hasn’t lost a beat and a music legend. I highly recommend his autobiography!
The irony of Bill correcting John on rock history on when Hey Jude and Satisfaction came out lmao. Bill he knows these artists personally and toured with half of them so let him talk good lord! 🤦♂️
Wow Dude We all know your a smart guy but John Fogerty is a rock legend and you won’t let him talk. YA BLEW IT
*you’re
So maddening.... It would be nice to hear John talk and finish a story. I am going to do a reaction video to this on my channel tomorrow. Please drop by and leave your thoughts.
Fogerty is the man, period.
He looks oddly like Pete Rose.
@@memiguelito he looks nothing like Pete Rose but he's still a true liberal.
Legendary
He must’ve been popular before I was born. I wonder if he had any popular songs that I might recognize.
@@chucknchar He does a little.
I agree . Others have said the bill interrupts too much, but when i watch this show, it's always interesting. It's like a train wreck that doesn't wreck somehow. The number of times john just shook his head cracked me up lmao 😂
One of the greatest of all time. Thank you both!
Let him talk Bill!
I get the feeling that Bill never watches the videos later when he's sober. He gets amazing guests on, surprisingly.
Even given my solid life long admiration for his courage, always excusing Bill's rush to interrupt, Bill has got to learn to let his guests finish their thought before derailing the conversation to his own less newsworthy reminiscences.
Fogerty: I remember the time I played Shea Stadium with Janis Joplin, and...
Maher: I went with my sister and I wore a Nehru jacket! Let me talk about it for the next 5 minutes!
💯 frustrating
What a silly comment - calling "I Put A Spell On You" a starter hit !! The song is PURE BRILLIANCE is every aspect !! The arrangement is so original. Bill has no clue.
Bill tells us John Fogerty's life while John Fogerty sits and listens. Greeeeeeeat.
Lol
Some of the things Bill says to John in this literally made me gasp
There was so much nuance to what Fogerty was saying that was right over Bill's head.
🎯
I was a security guard at Winstar casino..I often was in earshot of sound checks..it was always the older greats with record quality voices: fogerty, johnny rivers ,Smokey ,Patti Labelle, Tony Bennett and Frankie Valli!! Amazing Amazing
"Honey Don't" One of my favorite Beatles songs, and certainly my favorite Ringo song. What I love most about this song is the boys playing behind Ringo. Paul, John, and George are laying down a perfect rockabilly groove in this song. It's 3 minutes of pure joy
Wriitten by Carl Perkins
Totally agree, I love Honey Don’t and Credence’s version of Susie Q as well.
Imagine how incredible these interviews would be if Maher asked just a few well-planned questions.
Exactly, I want to hear John. A very frustrating interview
John Fogerty, man, just is the guy. My childhood in the 80’s was CCR, Steve Miller and going to the lake. I was to see him in Arizona in like 2021 but was not able to go. I hope I get to see him live at some point. Just seems like a great guy that has made timeless music that will be around for a long time. Cheers 🍻
This is my favorite episode of the podcast. But Bill, let people talk
“Bill you’re opinionated, you know that?” Thank you John! 34:00
Thanks for all the music John!
Good lord let the man finish a story!!! They never went back to the first question.
Per usual, fantastic interview! Your Real Time episode this weekend (4.26) was especially great. The comments about protesting college students were SPOT ON! I can't fathom why they don't have the same passion and anger for what's going on in our own backyard and the fact that women are losing their freedom on a daily basis--now that's something to be PISSED about!!!!
Nobody cares what you think about music Bill , this guy lived it
Thank you John...
for your beautiful sanity!!!❤
Bill manages to siderail guests stories to highlight his own superior musical knowledge. Would like to have heard John talk more about the producer in San Francisco but Bill said he doesn't care about that, his Playlist matters most.
Actually bill doesn't know that much. Bend Me Shake Me. It's a stupid song..He buys the album. Come on.
Bill truly, does not know anything about music.
ZERO.
Being a fanboy with a tin ear does not qualify.
If you do not have an ear- which he clearly does not and then do not develop that, you are just an imbecillic posturing fart.
People with actual skills and gravitas, much like MD's who have put blood, sweat and tears honing their craft and gifts are listening to this lowlife explaing THEIR ART, THEIR CRAFT to them.
No one wants to hear your juvenile deliquent playlist on your Shuffle.
That one made me blow a gasket.
Love your stuff Bill, and enjoyed this interview, but when you've got a rock-n-roll legend in the room trying to tell you some of his personal history, let the man talk FGS!
EVERYTIME Fogerty was getting to the point of a very short comment/story, BILL WOULD CUT HIM OFF. At one point, when Fogerty was talking about his early years in the industry, Bill shuts him up by saying “I don’t care about that. “ and rudely steers him to his later period. Bill is so intent on SHOWING OFF and patting himself on the back about his acumen, in this case musical, that he doesn’t listen to most of his guests. It’s as if a guest is just there to talk until they stoke an idea that Bill has a thought or opinion that he wants to showcase. I scream at the computer screen more watching Bill than any other interviewer/chat person. ALSO, his vulgar adolescent references to woman and sexuality are so tiresome. Maher’s stunted maturity was tolerable before he was a senior citizen. Now it’s just creepy and I’m old too.
ALSO, Maher is smarter and less of an obnoxious jerk when he is not stoned.
I agree with everything except the last part. Obnoxious all day long
Bill did manage to get his Trump rant in so he probably considers it to be a great interview.
Yeah, I yelled at my screen too when Bill said, "I don't care about that" monstrous arrogance! So rude! And like others said and implied, Fogerty is so gracious and polite, a class act.
Bills a f--king narcissist with a capital N ... he cant keep his moth shut you even listen to a reply ! sorry John had to endure this crap !
Bill can't go through an interview without using the word "pussy" or "creaming in their panties." How crude. He is on the same level as Trump in this respect. I wish he would realize that! And you can see the majority of his guests (including Fogerty) are so turned off by it!
I loved this episode, John is so kind and his stories were awesome
Bill says, “I could talk to you all night” his code for, I could listen to myself talk all night 😮🤦🏻♀️
You're trying to tell Fogerty about musicans? 😂Now you really are funny! And stop interrupting so much. I want to hear what Fogerty has to say. I can listen to you anytime!
come on bill you have a legend sitting in your playroom how hard is for you to shut up and listen to his life experience " COME ON MAN "
Exactly! So effing frustrating! 🤬
its the Liberal in him
What a great conversation, and John at 80, WOW, completely lucid and sharp!
You don’t even have to string clips together to make “Bill Interrupts A Legend Every Five Seconds.”
...Bill "motor mouth" Maher!
I like how Bill invites on a guest so he has someone to listen to him talk.
Well, it is his show.
Bill this was a great interview maybe the best you’ve done. When the guest says “it’s your show” they are hinting that you are talking too much and not letting them tell their story.
I enjoyed this conversation as it reminds me of two friends enjoying each others company. It is not an interview, which, is refreshing. Thank You, Bill !
How do you turn Bill's microphone off?
Omg shut him up!
Lol Bill's stoned n had the drink. All fired up like he was in 1970. flashbacks! John is gracious letting hime muse.
It’s obvious Bill doesn’t read the comments or he’d STFU and let a guest finish a thought…or even a sentence!
He reads them, he's just self-centered.
What a memory john has got, sharp as a tack! Long as I can see the light is such an awesome song.
This is one of those interviews that's hard to sit through because Maher can't shut up. Sometimes he just can't keep his trap closed -- too bad as Fogerty is so interesting.
Exactly…. Bill always ruins the interview.
One of them? Every one!
This show isn’t about the people he’s talking to, it’s just another way to feed his ego.
He’s a lonely man that brings in people he thinks will enjoy listening to him. Also, how many times does he have to bring up gayness? Barely 10 min and he’s yapping. Conflicted much? We need to stop listening.
Yup. Bill wasted the opportunity for us to hear from one of the greats.
any interviews out there where Fogerty talks?
I wish Bill would not interrupt his guests so much, l would like to hear what John has to say, isn’t that the point?
We're so lucky to still have John Fogerty still rocking strong. He's one of the great American rock n roll Frontman. Up there with Jim Morrison.
Great conversation. Oh Bill, "My Baby Left Me" and "Honey Don't" are delightful rockabilly tunes. Bill TELLING John about music and song. LOL. John had to leave thinking "This guy is rude."
Fogerty seems like a laid-back patient, gentleman...a real CLASS ACT...love this guy & his music. 💜🎸😎
Thank goodness Bill has producers and such on Real Time. Bill has to shut up so his guest can talk.
He should show his Club Radom guest the same respect.
John should have negotiated this debate better. The appointments mic should have been muted.
Takes almost an hour and a half for Bill to let Fogerty tell a rock story uninterrupted.
John, please contact Rick Beato and let him know you're available to chat for a couple of hours. Then we'll have an interview done RIGHT. 🎸
A really good host lets his guest shine ... Bill?
Bill, I love you man. Mist of the time, youre the smartest man in the room. You put people off when you act like the smartest man in the room.
“It’s George he performed it while I was standing next to him” damn this dudes subtle kind mic drops are great!
But Ringo did sing Honey Don't on the Beatles' recording of it. He also sang Matchbox. George sang Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby. Those are the three Carl Perkins songs the Beatles put on record.
On the great 'Concert for George' video Ringo explains how George loved Carl Perkins. So I'm sure that he did sing 'Honey Don' t' at times as John said, although Ringo did sing it on the record. Know all Bill didn't even seem to know that it wasn't a Lennon McCartney song.
@@stevehoran5595 ya I wasn’t even familiar with the song but I was just referring to John actually playing with these legends and being a legend in his own right it was nice the subtle humbling to bills arrogance.
@@murrayknight1672 🤣🤣 ya I hadn’t ever even heard the song and consider myself a huge Beatles fan 🤦♂️ lol I mainly just liked that John would subtly humble bill from time to time lol

John Fogerty is a legend. Bill gets drunk and won’t STFU. He loves to talk about himself . I don’t care about Bills story .
but he wont write memoir.
Yeah, I just want to get on a mic to that room and say, "Bill, no one cares!"
He's a stoooooge
Sometimes I see that. But I try to be patient. It’s okay he wants to sing with people, but, I don’t think I’d push my singing just off the cuff like he does. But maybe he would sing with me if…
Bill needs to STFU when John is talking about
What a really nice man! I am and have always been a fan since Suzie Q. Nice to know there are still wonderful men out there! Glad I got to hear this man speak and voice his truth about music. I am a fan!
Holy crap... The legend himself... The legends you get.

bill maher schooling john fogerty about the history of rock and roll (and music in general) is amazing.
The first 5 minutes -- Bill interrupting already. I wanted to hear the end of John's story. Damn!
I'm like, is Bill going to be: But enough about you let's talk about me and my banal thoughts some more bs.
Story? How about a damn sentence?
Why does bill always say to guest after pontificating on and on, “ok, enough talk about me, what do you think of me?”
I met John and Julie in Denver in 1997 on the Blue Moon Swamp Tour. He was friendly and down to earth, still have the autograph he gave me that night.
Mr John Fogerty. A legend 80? Oh my time flies. Great music - thank you .
The original German edition of Cosmo's Factory in 1970 by Bellaphon contained a poster. It is a painting of the profiles of the four band members.
Not three minutes in and Bill is monolguing. I want to hear CCR and Woodstock stories!
