@@almightyk11 Fallout 4 YOLO is where you can see how they are the same person. His years of experience with the game allows him to devise a plan but the moment he deviates his adorkable idiocy surfaces again. Basically he's the Doctor from Doctor Who.

My guess would be it's called "Theriocide", which is the act of killing a non-human animal or beast. And since dinosaurs fall under the category of "non-human animal or beast", I rest my case.
Jon's obliviousness to the pressure of support players to keep their team alive and the toxicity they experience; when a cooking dive damage dealer jump into enemy back line when there no conditions to do so and they die screaming that they weren't healed a dime, is adorable
That honestly the one thing keeping from buying Exoprimal is that there's no dedicated PVE mode from what I've seen, there's also some PVP aspect glued to it.
If they'd stripped out all the live-service things, it could actually be a nice mix of Warframe and EDF. Unfortunately, it hits the exact mid-point between those, taking the worst of both worlds.
"It's a game I Want to like" That pretty much sums it up. My hype for the game dropped considerbly when I heard it had PVP element's. Then when I heard about the Live Service nonsense, it fell off a cliff.
Having PvP elemnts itself isn't that bad i'd say but the game was advertised with PvE as a focus and even after a Closed beta test with a lot of feedback telling them the PvE is severely lacking nothing was done. I thik that is the bigger problem here.
Fun fact, the pachycelphlosaurus got jurrasic world into alot trouble, as they shortened the name to "pachy" in a scene, "another pachy roaming outside his zone", and some took offence to it sounding similar to a slur.
Been playing this a fair amount, currently lv60 as it's avaliable on Gamepass. Later on you get to do missions where you get kicked into raid type matches where both teams work together amd they're a lot of fun, definitely still feels bogged down sadly and even in the pve mode you fight other players that take over dinos which can make a match unfun especially if your team gets a carno and the enemy gets a t-rex
Matt: "I, too, know the terrible pain of loss. The hollowness one feels when one is just going through the motions of life. Like a living ghost, or a robot."
Stephanie Sterling doing a video on this on monday and then this video today! I was interested in seeing more of it and here you are to deliver! Very nice c:
The game ramps up slowly over time to unlock more types of missions and maps as you play games/level up. Later you unlock missions that are 10 player 'raid' style fights vs fancy big dinos, along with some raptor swarms that are multiple thousand strong continuously pouring at you. It's great fun once you get leveled up a bit (if you're fine with Overwatch gameplay), shame they level gated a bunch of the fun missions though. Would also like to make a note for anyone concerned with the live service elements. This part gets blown up a bit from people a bunch. The survival pass (read battle pass) is all cosmetics (in my opinion they are not premium compared to the stuff you can buy with in game currency). The 'loot boxes' are all items you can acquire with the in game currency (minus profile pictures, which are only from the boxes). You also can not purchase the boxes anywhere, they are only given to you for playing the game. Literally just random free cosmetics unlocked on some level ups, while other level ups give you the in game currency to buy those things.
While not excusing it, I do find the game adds a good amount of variety to it's PvE side with the Raid style story missions (no further detail here to avoid spoilers but they do reach 10 players all working together in some cases). I'm hoping with the release of the 'Savage Gauntlet' raid style mode (this week) it'll narrow down more and more into the strengths it has in terms of both fun and focusing heavily into the large scale chaos (Considering the mega scale events and new roster of Dino's that appear throughout the story progression of the game already). I agree with the sentiment you made about the unnecessary layering of Live Service features and the rather split perspective of PvP and PvE also Jon, it seems to clash a bit when it comes to something as core as player taxonomy types.
It's really like, you know those Jurassic Park arcade shooters? Where you shoot a prop gun at the screen? This is that, but like, upscaled. Like the devs absolutely loved that genre of game.
I love how it's repeatedly "10,000,000 Dinosaurs." 9,999,999 Dinosaurs? To few. 10,000,001? Are you insane? There's such a thing as TOO MANY Dinosaurs!
Welcome to modern triple-A gaming, Jon. Where decent, fun game ideas go to drown in a sea of contradictory and meaningless gameplay decisions, all in service of keeping a sinking ship afloat (the micro-transaction store).
You nailed it, could've been an EDF-like fun with friends game but it's trying to be OW/TF2 etc. as well and it doesn't work like several other failed mashups in this vein.
Jon, please have a gander at Second Extinction it's a co op based Dino game where each mission has a sandbox esque map in which it let's you approach the mission however with the different classes at your disposal.
The thing about this game I've learned after playing it for about 50 hours or so is that it's a very specific type of game, if you want a pve focused game you aren't going to get it yet, there's a LOT more content that unlocks the further you go, like large scale 10 man raids where both teams work together and stuff and much more complex missions but at its core this game is a speedrunning game, you are competing to do objectives faster than the enemy in every other game, if you queue pvp you have even more to deal with at the end as you need to fight the enemy team, PVE is purely speedrunning though and both teams can win that way if you both complete your objectives around the same time, overall PVE is good for learning mechanics but PVP is a more rewarding and intense experience. The balancing is also kind of... flawed to say the least, out of all the DPS barrage is by far the best, he does the most AOE damage out of everyone and is literally always useful be it PVE, PVP or raids, he doesn't really have many downsides besides maybe a lack of hitscan and if you have 2 of them you can both ult the enemy's controlled dinosaur and completely eliminate their 1 big mechanical way of dealing with you while you still have yours if they don't do the same. Characters like the sniper are effectively useless in packs of enemies where you only have to deal with small fry as their dps numbers are lacking compared to barrage and they CAN just not scope and instead shoot with a semi auto rifle but at that point you'd be better with the base assault rifle soldiery mech as he has more to offer and a far better ult, all the sniper really has going for them is a freeze which is pretty good against larger monsters but you'd be better just taunting and tanking with someone like marasume who's by far the best tank for most circumstances as he can effectively solo most large scale monsters given enough time. Tanks are also pretty imbalanced as roadblock (the giant reinherdt like shield character) is effectively either completely useless in a lot of scenarios as shielding isn't really required and you'd rather have someone doing more damage or just integral (last raid) as his shield can keep back raid wiping mechanics (he's also pretty good in PVP especially his ultimate ability but you'd be better switching to him when it gets to that point) The game also suffers from the problem of just being able to switch out your mech and retain your ultimate which means you can build it on a character that's very easy to build your ult on then just switch to someone who's harder and keep it full charged and use theirs. I think the game is fun as it is, but it would have worked far better as a free to play game, get it on gamepass if you can because it's a lot less painful to think about the price tag that way,
So is the lore of this game that dinosaurs that escaped death are being hunted down by assassins who are sent back, forward, and any other orthogonal direction through time to ensure the extinction of the dinosaurs is fully completed?
Oh my. The skater girl mech can heal/shield and do pretty good damage? Surely she can't have some kind of inbuilt weakness for the sake of game balance.
Day 1100 of requesting Zoo Tycoon. I have always loved dinosaurs, and if you want more of them I'd suggest playing "Second Extinction" instead. It's a wave shooter, and it's actually pretty fun.
John everyone is sitting here talking about earth defense force which is more about hordes of aliens than anything. No the game you described just sitting around killing massive amounts of dinosaurs while being co op already exists. Second Extinction it’s literally lose the overwatch feeling of the game and add a quest and side quests to a open world and extinction level event the dinosaurs where they belong
I haven't even made it past the opening screen... Is that Nightwing doing squats in the background with the blue chest V?? Okay I made it like 3 minutes in and am sad Jon didn't comment on the digital jellyfish
I'm confused by the skater argument. Skater is a totally legit term for a skateboarder. Also skateboards were invented using roller skates and scooters, both of which were popular at the time surfers invented the skateboard looking for a way to practice when they couldn't surf. So there's *is* a very close connection between roller skates and skateboards. I'm closer to being with Jon on this one.
If this game doesn't currently have a magical girl named "K-T"(pronounced "Katie", obviously) with a particularly apocalyptic transformation they should probably address that missed opportunity.
The game looks interesting, but for the life of me I can’t understand why there’s a pvp component. Like, why? Why have 2 competing teams instead of one cooperative team? My guess, they want to try to make an esport. Which is very dumb.
As someone who avoids PVP like the plague in pretty much any game she plays, I really can't relate to Matt saying "Because it's a video game and that's important" about PVP XD
You'd probably like Deep Rock Galactic, which focuses heavily on player cooperation and PvE. The only PvP element is friendly fire, which the game goes out of its way to discourage. On a related note, if you choose to play it with Dan and Matt, keep Dan as far away from Driller as you can.
@@kolkonut And I imagine Jon would be Engineer (the support class that helps out from behind the front line), Matt would pick Gunner (as I'm pretty sure he plays the most FPS games out of the four of them), and that leaves Dan with Scout (the super fast, ADHD class with a grappling hook that will let him zip ahead, get killed by enemies and/or gravity, and pester the other three until they save him).
