@@hallucy2215 I think they only did this show once so I imagine she didn't have as much time to rehearse and figure out how she wants to play it as she would if it were an actual musical. This was also a concert version so they have even less time to develop the character. On top of that she was having her cancer treatment around that time so I imagine she had a lot on her mind too. I think she did a fantastic performance anyway 🤷🏻♀️

Interesting! I never caught that. I prefer Helena Bonham Carter in the role, but now I want to get the DVD out and see whether she also reacts in a similar way.

His face alone is enough to send me into a fit of giggles! 🤣 I also love the line, "And I'm telling you that pussycats is quick!" because it's Mrs. Lovett basically confessing that she has tried catching cats to bake into pies, but with no success. Everything about this song, and this scene is just brilliant! This is what you get when you have talented people bring Sondheim's words to life! (Take not Helena, Johnny and Tim! 😏)

Stephen Sondheim was in the audience and came up on stage at the end to Congratulate the cast. He seemed to really enjoy it. ❤️ the whole performance is available here on TH-cam. It’s really good.
