THANK you SO much!! I went to the trouble of signing in just to be able to say thank you!! You are awesome!!! This worked for my old HP Envy 4500 printer. When first putting the cartridge into the bowl of water, it floated and lots of air bubbles came up. Guess that means, there was unnecessary air in the cartridge. Then the cartridge sank, and I waited another 10 minutes, and it printed beautifully.😊

I did this and it don’t work my printer still says empty and only print black ink
@@atmphil1... No I tried everything & every single "compatible cartridge" did not work at all & huge waste of money. And this actually worked. I had the SAME EXACT problems as you in the beginning....
What I had to do was a total
"Factory Reset" &clear all defaults (100%EVERYTHING)Then I did a new realignment, with the new ink (FEW TIMES, UNTIL IT WAS PRINTING CLEAR, BCUZ it was a SCARY MESS @1st😬& I was LEGIT FREAKING OUT, that I RUINED my ENTIRE PRINTER. Just TRYING to SAVE money😱lol)... But after a BUNCHA realignments & then taking OUT the cartridge AGAIN that I just filled & REMOVING some of the (SUPER) EXCESS ink, that I OBVIOUSLY overfilled🤦& used a paper towel & carefully wiped it down & then carefully placing the cartridge down on a clean paper towel & let it absorb anymore excess ink that was leaking out the back. (Bcuz you can't really see how empty it really was &/ how much it needs &/ how MUCH you can actually INJECT inside. So you're LITERALLY going into the WHOLE process BLINDLY & "winging it"🤷lol.
To ME, it feels like it's a sponge inside that got dried out & your basically "RE-wetting" that sponge inside. Like a stamp set, when the main stamper gets really dried out & you have to saturate it again with fresh ink... Kiiiiiiiinda like that🤔
Soooo... After you try to get as much excess ink off of it & out of it... You put it back into the printer again & go into settings & find "CLEAN CARTRIDGE" & run THAT 1ST (Bcuz I found THAT setting MUCH LATER🙄AFTER all the freaking out&stress😑🤚lol)... Then after running a "CLEAN CARTRIDGE" see how that prints out & then do ANOTHER if it needs it, UNTIL it is printing clearly & then do another "ALIGNMENT" & see how that all prints out now...
Bcuz with ME, Tthe 1st FEW times, it was ALL printing out as a SMEARED LEAKY freaking DISASTER & THAT is WHY I was TOTALLY freaking OUT🤯... But after going thru THAT whole process over & over & OVER... It FINALLY came out PERFECT!!!!

Make SURE that you get "COMPATIBLE INK" that is @ CLOSELY compatible with YOUR printer @POSSIBLY POSSIBLE... you NEED to make SURE, that the INK your purchasing is @CLOSE to what is inside of your ORIGINAL, GENUINE ink cartridges. Bcuz the PRINTER will KNOW!!👺👻SERIOUSLY & LITERALLY!!😳It will TELL YOU so!! Lol
So after all THAT crazy stress & aggravation, I printed a BUNCHA stuff & EVERYTHING was AWESOME, for a WHIIIIIIILE🤓👍...
But... BUT... I gotta tell you THISSS😐
I RECENTLY went to print something & it was NOT printing AGAIN...😖 So I think you NEED to add MORE, NEW ink every so often, just to get it going again & KEEP it going...
But, I must say, THAT was ALL WORTH it bcuz it saved ME a LITERAL FORTUNE... Black GENUINE ink cartridges for MY printer, are either OBSOLETE &/ ANY that do EXIST, range ANYWHERE between
$35-$80+...(NEVER EVER would have I PURCHASED thisssss PRINTER, if I KNEW what replacing the ORIGINAL/GENUINE ink cartridges would be like & COST🤑)
Bcuz when I NAIVELY purchased (&STILL EXPENSIVE) "COMPATIBLE" Ink Cartridges🤨
& STILL 100%NONE of THEM ever freaking WORKED 😫I was @ MY wits end😤 Like MY PRINTER, freaking "TOLD ME" that I was "USING INCOMPATIBLE INK CARTRIDGES" & "TO REMOVE the ERROR CARTRIDGES & PUT IN a COMPATIBLE/GENUINE INK CARTRIDGE, FOR USE" 😒🤬 & NOTHING ever WORKED to fix THAT!!
Sooooo THAT is WHY I ended up researching my printer & all THIS technical stuff & came across videos like this & decided to find compatible ink on Ebay. And I actually found a FULL KIT & BIG BOTTLE of it & only cost Me like $8.99 & it WORKED!!!

Soooooo I hope all this "helpful" (psychobabble) advice, I just wrote, actually HELPS YOU🤔bcuz I did THIS....LAST YEAR & had to RE-remember how I did it & TRY to write it all out as "UNDERSTANDABLY" as I possibly could🥺 bcuz the whole process was a SOB. lol (So, THAT is WHY I use CAPS...it's for EMPHASIS🗣️😏Lol)

I have a 62... Another trick that sometimes works (I can't guarantee but it works for me most of the time) is to push on the reset button which is an indented circle on top of each cartridge with a sharp (but not too sharp as to puncture) instrument. Press for 10 to 15 seconds... Also, make sure to gently clean the pins with a q tip to get any debris or ink off...

Sticker method worked for me! Our home printer was saying the cartridge was not inserted right. Also another cartridge it was saying that it was non genuine and would only print blank pages.

Thank you. This worked for my colour cartridge. However, when my black cartridge is in the printer I get an error "E0". This doesn't allow me to print. However if I remove the black ink cartridge, I can print with the colored cartridge only. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
Thanks this was perfect for my 63 XL cartridge. The 2ml per color on the color cartridge were spot on. Maybe a line under the 2ml but the measurement was good :)
Also, Make sure you tape the same dot on both cartridges, and not just on one.
For the black ink I use 6ml if it’s really low. Or 3-4ml if you’re not sure.
So if you only put take over one of the dots it will still read empty?
I decided to try this on my jobs printer first befor doing my own
After refilling them the printer prints in black ink more darker then it did befor
But I only put tape on the color cartage and it don’t work no color comes and the printer keeps reading that it’s empty.
HP caught on to what people were doing after they themselves implemented refill restrictions through sensors. And the firmware update that happened around 5 months ago ruined the hack :/
Now the printer will not detect a cartridge if that dot that we had covered is not recognized
@tripas421 their not supposed to do that though. They were sued for not allowing customers a choice in ink. I recently just started refilling my own cartridge. I didn't/havent done the tape thing. It registers the cartridge, but I only get white paper. I've taken the cartridge out and dabbed it on a paper towel it shows ink. I'm not very happy right now with what is being said with firmware. It seems to only be allowing 1 refill per new cartridge (oem or off brand). And right now refilling is the only affordable option. Grrr, I so very much regret much regret getting rid of my cannon printer. It printed so beautifully compared. Especially pictures. I also own a hp laptop that's also were the extra mad is coming from. My experience with this printer to me it's only 1 step above the cheaper Epson my mom had... no more buying hp products for me, I've had enough fun ahaha.

Refilling everything worked for me except for the piece of tape over the thing part I did it and it still read low.

You can only fill black cartridge and that should work.

You can try covering some other pin and try again. It should work at anyone.

@@CopyPrintScanChannel You showed how to reset the ink level on the color cartridge, by covering a pin on the bottom of it with tape. Will this work too on the HP 63 regular sized black ink cartridge, after refilling it?

Covering the same pin did not work for the black ink cart. I will try covering other pins and see if that works and report back.

I forgot to mention I tried this pin covering method after refilling my 63 Black XL on an Envy 4520 which isn't mentioned in the title for this vid, but the printers look so much alike and it uses the same 63 carts so it seemed logical to try it.
I went ahead and tried covering all the pins individually as the OP stated to another individual. Here are the results:
Many of the pins present a message that said 'check the ink cart and replace if the error persists'. A few of the pins give a message saying 'the ink cart isn't designed for this printer'. Only 2 of the pins didn't cause these errors when covered, but I still did not see the ink level reading correctly.

It don’t matter if it don’t read correctly as long as it stop saying that it’s empty.
When it says that it’s empty the printer won’t use any color ink even if you fill it up.
The tape trick on the color cartridge did not work with my HP Envy 4520. I still get low ink warning. I even performed a hard reset (unplugged it for 5 minutes), and restored factory defaults via web interface. No dice.

It does not say that it is full after putting a sticker on the dot and it does not print anymore just stating that it went completely empty instead of near empty and it prints white paper from now on only. no ink used.

What ink to buy and where?
Use any ink from Amazon just check the reviews to see what is best. Usualy all same but different names.
@Copy Print Scan ty ill check it out I found the ink I put in save for later from Amazon from a yr or so ago. Ima read reviews then find better if need.
I filled the black ink only and my prints don't come out evenly when printing black only. Disappointed
NEVER buying HP again.... their prices are INSANE.someone needs to invent a cheaper way to print!!
It is a cheap way to print. It costs pennies to make an ink cartridge, but they sell the printers at a discount and try to make up for it by marking up the ink and trying to electronically lock the printers to only use their cartridges
Has anyone had any issues with their printer after use?
I looked up on HP's site and found that third party inks can damage your printer. I know HP are probably just saying that to persuade you to buy more of their overpriced ink. Has anybody encountered any damages or issues with their machines?
I've never had a different ink "tuin my printer", but sometimes they work, other times they don't. I have been refilling my black for years, but I let it run out and finally had to buy a new one. I'm adding 4ml to the 24$ cartridge and I won't let it run low again; I've still saved lots of money.

I know for sure that the refill is not effective. The filling of those are done under a vaccum system. And when u have ink leakage from the printhead or through the top. The sponge inside has barely absorbed that ink. Causing greenage when printing full images. I know for a fact this is a fail.
You need to tell what color ink goes in which hole. Useless video
