    Great story, I'm glad you got YOUR klr back. I understand completely. I have a 2012 blue and white klr with over 50k trouble-free miles. I have other "better" bikes but my klr is my go to and by far my favorite. Thanks for the videos.

    Wow! what a surprise to see a KLR? Crazy how you got your old bike back on the deal. Whatever bike make you happiest is the bike for you. I like my DR650 but out of curiosity picked up a Gen1 KLR for $1200 enjoyed it rode it around AZ. Then found a like new Gen1 KLR650 for $2500 and have no intention of selling that or the DR650. The KLR650's grow on you. Thank You.

    Klr650 rider here! Great bikes! They just get the job done! And they're a good friend...I think that's why the klr650 community is what it is..

    I have a KTM 1190 . But for some reason I miss my 2gen kLR also. Something about those bikes. I'm thinking I want another one also. Road the crap out of mine for about 5 years. Nice video. Keep it up.

      @@brandmanstorys9216 I’d like to do it in June also. Maybe could share intel as time draws nearer. Not doing Lockhart though! Did it while on the TAT from Virginia 2019. That was a 6 week affair. Have been on numerous multi week runs.

    Sad to see the DR go but happy to see your enjoying your latest ride. I started watching because I just bought my first DR 650 and really enjoyed seeing you taking your DR places I plan on going. Keep up the videos my wife and I really enjoy watching them.

    My brother-in-law and I had a boat access only camp on the Pecos River. The sun would go down on the rock walls of the canyon. After dark we would sit and fish for hours without saying a word. Just enjoy the night sky and the feeling of calm. Then, out of nowhere, he would ask "I wonder what the rich people are doin' tonight?". I bet you ask yourself that all the time.

    I was almost going to bug you to see when your next vid was coming but you beat me to the punch. So which bike do you like better for road and which is better off road between KLR & DR?

    • @brandmanstorys9216
      @brandmanstorys9216  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely think the klr is the better bike on the road the DAR is a bit faster I just think that's because it's a lot lighter butt the KLR650 is just so comfortable and it just handles better overall I think for most people the Dr would be better off road but the thing is the ergonomics just kill it for me I'm more confident on the KLR Offroad and I have enough riding experience to where the extra hundred pounds or so is only noticeable when I have to pick the bike up or when it gets very technical I think it's a combination of good ergonomics and good suspension that makes the klr feel so good and I also have to admit that a lot of that is because of the mods have done to the bike

      @@brandmanstorys9216 You have to go with what you’re comfortable with. I’m currently riding a VStrom 650 that’s at least 450 lbs. I’m looking for something lighter, that’s street legal, for those times when you want to get deeper off the grid. Maybe a DRZ 400 ??

      @@rickreasoner8664 heck yeah V-Stroms are sweet and so our drzs unfortunately I've never had the opportunity to ride either of those bikes butt as someone who was introduced to Adventure motorcycling Buy everride and his infamous DRZ the Black Widow I think it's pretty safe to say that DRZs hold a pretty special place in my heart

      @@brandmanstorys9216 Well said. You see a lot of KTM Dual Sport bikes on Ever Ride but not everyone can afford them (although my dirt bike is a KTM XC450) I kind of need to keep it simple & cheap to round out my stable.

    • @brandmanstorys9216
      @brandmanstorys9216  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rickreasoner8664 oh yes very wise and I also find that if I squint hard enough and lie to myself a little bit the klr rids and look like KTM and that's good enough to me👍

    The mighty DR definitely requires $4800 worth of upgrades to get it comfy and "adventure ready". Luggage racks top and side, oversized fuel tank, bark busters, case savers, chain guards, led lighting, jet kit, airbox mod, exhaust, fork spring and damper upgrade , shock upgrade and if you are over 5 ft 6in bar risers, lowered pegs, taller wider commuter seat and angling the handlebars properly is a must. Almost unbearable with the stock ergonomics, it's like the greatest bike ever that was setup ergonomically for a 5' 3" 120lb japanese man. BUT if you can bear to sink that money into the DR for upgrades it is a much more capable bike than the KLR will ever be able to be upgraded into. More HP, more Torque, better handling, in general a peppier bike. And the DR can put down the Hwy at 80mph for hours at a time and not burn a drop of oil..... Only thing I give the nod to the KLR on is wind protection, hard to beat the large factory fairing. It's a heafty price to add on top of the cost of the bikes but a well setup DR is hard to beat for a general purpose dual sport. One day I plan to get a DRZ to add to my stable, the mighty bushpig will be setup as a long distance tourer and the DRZ will be kept light for off roading. Anywho, moral of the story is that I missed my KLR at first too but after getting my DR fully set up as a proper dual sport I'd never turn back. With all that said the Tenere 700 makes my DR look like a joke 🤣 dominates it in power, handling, top speed, acceleration, range. Makes me question sinking so much into my DR
