Hey To avoid cramping all the electronics if u have the Scx24 Jeep or C10 get the fenders from RC4WD and place the esc on one side and the receiver on the other Because that’s what I’m doing
🖐️🤠 greetings 2FM RC Another brilliant share 👍 Thank you 🤝 from 🇬🇧 We have to cry & laugh 😂 because this video became available a week too late for us personally. When we did our brushless install the re-aligning of the drive shafts, like you said, kept falling apart as we lifted the frame to either make adjustments or to bolt things down. 🙃 We came up with a method to avoid this in future, but as you, we too had to experiment & figuring things out, eventually developing a simple method in 'how to do' process. 🤔 Lastly....... we did not use any of the same components you used, as they are not easy to acquire over here; and they take too long to aquire and cost much much more in the end; door-to-door. OUCH! 😭 In fact....... we're still waiting on some pieces. ✈️🚛 🥾📭 👀 In a nutshell, we went with an AEO micro outrunner that Gamyrc used with his micro motor plate on Shapeways. Downside the ESC that comes with the outrunner is ok, but programed for planes. We are waiting for an EzRun 18A ESC & program card. We'll probably stay with the stock SCX24 AE-6 and it's SCX24 Transmitter. Components are so hard to come by here 🇬🇧 at the moment that we hope to have opportunity to have it finally running this week, but IF NOT....... THEN not till end of March21 😞 Thank you again 2FM RC for this superb video share! Your time & experimenting is well received and Very much appreciated 👍 Keep ROCKIN ON! The 👥 🌎🌍🌏 is 👀 YOU! 🤓 Cheers mate! 🇬🇧
Wow! People are complaining that things are hard to come by here as well. Nowhere near as bad as you have it though. That’s the main reason I’ve been branching out trying to find alternatives for use here because we can’t get the things we always did before. Whatever makes them run I guess. Hope it all works out for ya! I keep thinking parts will pick back up but they just keep getting harder to find lol
I have three white Jeeps we are like nascar everything the same lol. My wife and my daughter can't say well if we had that we could climb that also 😂 . I try stuff out then order two more if i like it so thanks again for all your help on getting the right stuff 👍👍
I just want it to be fair 😊 I'm driving 8 hours this weekend to get rc parts. This is my last trip thanks to you and your parts list. Lincoln NEBRASKA is where i have to go at least I get to see memorial stadium go big red 👍
@@alexchapman5872 there should still be the spur on shapeways. Did you try it? Here’s the pinion I’m using on one of mine www.ebay.com/itm/Hot-Racing-11t-5-Mod-Hardened-Steel-Pinion-Gear-1-8-Bore-CSG11M05-/292841643634?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
Which is better the lizard or the hobby wing? I originally ordered the hobby wing but also ordered the lizard. Might as well use the hobby wing somewhere.
Thank you! This is just in time delivery. This is the next step in my build, so I don't have to figure it out myself how to do it 😁. I was lucky and got a sidewinder micro esc. Can u tell me what values u programmed. Drag brake etc...
anyone know what the best pinion and spur tooth count would be for a crawler ? (i dont need much speed since im building a crawler) some of the links in the description are dead and i stuck guessing
Thank you for your content. Ordered the Surpass motor mount and will be pairing it with the Furitek Lizard (thanks for discount). Will the Surpass motor and motor mount fit in the HR Rock Racer Conversion?
I recently purchased the same motor and mount but need the screws to mount it. What size are they and where can I find them? Please help. It will be greatly appreciated
Thank you for the timely response, but I have actually found a 11t on Amazon of all places. Lol You inspired me to do a 4ws set up on my wrangler and before all my parts have came in, my motor took a crap. Now ordering everything for a brushless set up.
Matt, Can you do a video on installing surpass motor and the new mounting bracket? I have all my stuff just not sure how it goes together... I also got the Furick
Great video, just as you're other video's. It made me buy a SCX24, and after two weeks another one for my daughter. and a lot of upgrades. Just burnt out my first stock engine and now i am trying to find al the pieces I need for the brushless setup, LOL. I have found everything, although in Europe not everything is available. I could not find the spur gear. The Hot racing one seems to be sold out, everywhere and i can not find a link to the shapeway spur gear, can anyone help me finding the correct one? I dont really know what to look for while i am new to the hobby, and i can't find the dimensions or specs of the spur gear. Thanks for the inspiration!
Well the hot racing spur is really the only option now. They removed the one from shapeways because the quality was so bad people were having issues with it. It wasn’t even usable. The hot racing one is getting hard to find. I’m going to mention to Treal that they should make one. We need someone else making these!
I’m running the flysky gt5 so it’s the receiver to it. The program card don’t come with it. It does come with directions on programming with just the esc but a card is easier. The one I used isn’t actually for this esc but works if you follow along with the directions included.
Hey bud, I really enjoy your videos, I was wondering how you have your camera set up right in front of your hands? Your shots are so clean on your videos because of the camera placement and I’ve tried a few things myself but the camera in your videos looks like it’s mounted to your chest but it doesn’t shake or anything? Love the vids! I’m hoping that my channel will look as nice as yours some day 👍🏻😄
Hey! Sorry I just seen this. I just have the camera mounted on a tripod in front of me. Basically the mic sits almost at my chin level. I have long arms and I’m able to just sort of reach around it all. The camera is a dji osmo pocket actually. I bought it for smooth outdoor shots (it has a gimbal) but I ended up mostly just using it indoors because the screen is so small you can’t really see what you’re shooting outdoors lol
@@UpperLeftRC no prob. Wish I would’ve seen the comment sooner. I didn’t get a notification. I’ve been going back through some videos looking for comments I may have missed because TH-cam don’t notify me a lot of the time anymore. Really sorry
Yes. Mine was very tight as well. It would barely catch the corner of the motor. I just bent the frame rails slightly and it made it clear. Gamyrc tried to update the mount a bit to help but it’s still really tight on the Betty for some reason.
@@2fmrc Could you send me a photo so I can have ideal of how far to go. Mine seemed to be hitting a lot. Thanks for all the great videos. You by far are my go to...
I'm new to all this RC stuff, in fact, I haven't bought my first RC crawler yet but was thinking about getting an SCX24 and have seen a lot of upgrades I would l like to do to it when I get one, motor upgrade was one. When I do the motor upgrade do I also need to buy the programmer as well? I know it's probably a dumb question to ask.
It depends on what esc you run with the motor really. It is what is programmable and will need tuned. Check out my last couple videos on the Furitek esc. I would go that route if upgrading. Then you just need to use the app on your phone to tune the esc!
@@drewdavis4162 awesome! Sorry I just seen the comment. I never got a notification and I was just going back through some videos checking comments trying to look for any I missed lol
I have a 12t in one of mine. Really couldn’t tell you which one now lol. To not really noticeable to me. It’ll be fine. I think we bought all of the 11t out 😆
Matt, Finally got the motor in, where it would work. But now it wants to run by itself even after calibrating it with the app. I’ve change the wires around several different times still does the same thing. Have any ideal why it is doing that?
Awesome video, I just oder everything I needed for two trucks. I just need to know if the pinion hole size is 3mm? And if you can connect that esc to the stock receiver?
It is a 3mm bore pinion. There have been people connect a different motor and esc to the stock receiver but I’ve never tried it. I run the flysky gt5 in a lot of mine.
Did you happen to flip the trans when mounting it all up and need to switch the driveshafts? Or possibly put the spur gear on the wrong way? One side has more of an offset than the other.
Well I’ve seen people use all the way up to the 15t but they are all getting hard to find. I had to order a couple of these an just wait for them. @@2fmrc I also was looking to see what pinion gear i should use. The link you posted shows me what to get except the hole diameter. Which one is it? im mounting to the surpass motor. it gives me 2 options , 2mm & 3mm.
Thanks for the installation instruction here! I'm going to attempt this in my deadbolt soon(when the parts all come in) just a couple questions if you have the time. 1st the screws needed to mount the surpass, do they come with the motor or will I have to pick those up somewhere, if the later, where do you suggest finding them? 2nd can I use the stock transmitter with the furitek esc? Thanks again for all you're videos. Never a disappointment getting the notification about one of your new vids👍👍
Yeah so you will need the m3x12mm screws. I usually just find some on eBay. I like the flat head style so there are no clearance issues (I’ll link below, just select m3x12mm) and you can use the stock transmitter with the Furitek. You’ll just plug the Furitek plug into the channel 2 port on the stock esc. Hope this helps! I covered the install for the Furitek in a couple other vids if you run into anything on it. @@2fmrc sweet!! This helps a lot, this will be my 1st attempt at going brushless. Going to go back and watch a few of your other videos before I actually dig into it though. Thanks again Matt!
Great video! It's hard to find all the parts! The spur isn't anywhere. I guess I order parts, and wait for others to get in stock. Your channel is great! Keep up the great work!
Question. Because I want to try to do this set up on one of my rigs but I can not find the hot racing pinion gear.. the other one that you have on your discerption is that one that you recommend to fit on the surpass motor? Because it seems like they don’t make those 11t pinion gears anymore unless there just all out everywhere. Or I found another one it’s a 0.5m 0.5mod 3mm 12t brass motor pinion. It says it’s a tight fit but I’m wondering if that will fit on a surpass motor. I’m sorry I’m still all new to allll of this. Your videos are the ones I watch the most. So I thank you a lot but yeah I just need some help trying to locate a pinion gear or witch one would u recommend to use on the surpass motor ?
Hey! I appreciate you watching and the comment. That brass pinion should work. I just put the same one (I believe) on my latest build. It’s tight but it works great! Those hot racing gears are hard to come by now. Furitek actually has a full brushless conversion setup that will be shipping soon hopefully (supposed to ship June 26 last I heard) and that will probably be the best bet once they are readily available just because it’s so simple to get everything in one spot!
@@2fmrc no problem man I love the videos. Not gonna lie I even rewatch them too haha. You really inspired me to really get into this hobby. I’m also a Hotwheels collector but man these scx24 are badass So I thank you sooo much man. Keep up the great work! But yeah Right I saw that one too by furitek Vary interested in that one too but i gotta wait till they have that one back in stock. I believe I even pre ordered it. But in the mean time I have a surpass motor i wanna try out I just don’t have that pinion gear. I also found another one on eBay a brass 0.5m 0.5mod 3mm 12t but it’s not a 11t like the hot racing but yeah that hot racing. Can not find it anywhere so the 12t brass I just mention that will work as well without damaging the motor or spur gear? I just want to get the right gear and not mess anything up so I had to try to ask you for some help.
@@2fmrc awesome man. Thank you so much for the help definitely will be coming back if I need anymore help if that’s okay. I really appreciate it. Will be giving that pinion a try.
On the Jeep I have the aluminum cr24 shocks and on the silver rig I’m running the aluminum oil filled carismas at the moment. Probably going to switch them to kinetic double barrels when I get the time.
Hi. Thank you for the video! I ordered most of needed parts. But regarding the spur gear I want to ask if it's really needed or the stock one will works also? Thank you
The stock one won’t work with the pinion that fits this motor. The shaft is larger on this motor and the stock setup won’t work. I haven’t found a pinion that fits the larger shaft of this motor and will work with the stock spur. So you kinda need the spur and pinion to make it work. Hope that helps!
Yes you’ll need the mod 5 because the pinion used with the surpass fits the mod 5. I wouldn’t use the one from shapeways. A few people have said it’s junk
Yeah it’s my favorite for sure. The barrage is a really cheap easy upgrade from stock. Then I prefer this in the brushless category. Paired with the new Furitek esc (in my latest videos) it’s unbelievably smooth!
@@2fmrc Yes, I watched that video and was absolutely blown away. I've never been really into rc so I didn't even know esc like that existed! If I get a scx24 I will definitely be considering. Your videos are very informative! I want to start small and relatively inexpensive but upgradeable even though the 1/10 scale trucks look awesome
What did you use to adapt the three leads from the Surpass to the ESC? I just got my motor and it doesn't have any sort of adaptor included. (slowly but surely trying to get the conversion done on mine too)
Sorry, I was talking about the Furitek. But after I asked, I saw that the Lizard comes with the adaptor. Thanks man. I'm going to build a Gamyrc Buggy like your orange one, but with the Surpass motor and rear steer. Thanks for the inspiration!
The only other ones I’ve really found come from China and take a bit to get. You need the 3mm version. Here’s the link to it. www.ebay.com/itm/0-5M12T-2mm-3mm-Bore-Hole-12-Tooth-Width-5mm-Module-0-5-Motor-Metal-Spur-Gear-/143818307321?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286

@@bgrimlan that pinion from eBay is a press on. It’s a tight fit. Never had an issue with it. If anything put a dab of super glue on the motor shaft and then slide it on.
@@2fmrc Is there a correct way to put the press-on gear on? I imagine you don't use any lubricant since that would make the gear more likely to slip when the motor spins. Can I just rubber mallet it? I don't think I can put it on by bare hand force. Sorry, I have never dealt with press-on gears, just those with a nut or a set screw.
Hey bud, I got this mount, but it seems to be backwards from what u have, also, I have to use spacers so the pinion fits in between the motor and the back of the mount, or I have to hollow out the home so the pinion will fit. I'm using the hr 12t .5 pinion. Am I doing something wrong?
Shouldn’t be backwards but you will have to hollow it out a bit for that pinion. When gamyrc first made the mount we were using a different pinion. I found the hot racing pinion which is easier to get (ships from the US) but it does need the mount hollowed out. He recently changed the motor mount again to fit that HR pinion.
I put a surpass motor in the deadbolt and in reverse to me the drive shaft is hitting or my remote is acting up it reverse ok most times goes forward great I move the motor by hand it feels smooth as butter I'm a new be can you pros help ?
I run the stock batteries just with different ends. You’ll just need to change the connector on the esc to run the stock batteries. I haven’t found an adapter that goes from the plug on the esc to the stock scx24 batteries. It’s an odd adapter that apparently no one really sells.
@@maxwellphillip6002 They work great and look awesome i have a set on my c10 way better then stock they will be a little shorter then your stockers on the jeep.
Awesome vid man, been following for a while. I just got the Surpass motor mounted to my Gamy mount. I just need to source a pinion. Will the brass one in the link mesh up with the stock spur gear, or should I look for something different? Thanks again, lots of great info, much appreciated!
Hi I love your channel, I have the stock ESC and I have the Barrage Motor with it, what ESC do you recommend if I wanna use the Flysky GT5 receiver with the Barrage motor? also, I know I saw that you like running the FOC 2 in 1 combo Hobbywing and I have the AXE system, does this brushless setup on the scx24 have the same feel as the FOC on the Hobbywing FOC? that smooth consistent torque. thank you
This hobbywing isn’t near as smooth as the fusion or axe. The castle micro sidewinder is the only small scale esc that I’ve found that is anywhere near those 2 systems. But they are sensored systems as well so it’s hard to beat them. This hobbywing really just kinda gets the job done. It’s not ultra smooth but it’s not bad either. I mainly recommended it because at the moment there isn’t much else to go with. Everything is on back order etc. As far as running the gt5 with the barrage motor I would think you could pair about any decent brushed esc with it and be good. Maybe the hobbywing 1080? It’s a little bigger but will work. I haven’t played around with too many brushed options for the scx24. I did run my castle micro sidewinder with the barrage and it was ultra smooth! Once again though it’s almost impossible to find now lol. It’s just a hard call with everything being unavailable like it is 🤦🏻♂️
@@2fmrc yeah i cant find anything either lol, for a smoother Hobbywing FOC crawl feel which would you use the mamba micro X or the Micro Sidewinder 2 for the brushless setup? thanks again
@@thegreatrc9302 either would probably be good. I have experience with the micro sidewinder 2 in the scx24 and it’s by far the best I’ve ran in them. If I can get it I’ll choose it every time!
I would recommend the castle link programmer. I believe it will come set up to where you can use it as is but it’s better with a little tuning. You will have to solder on some battery connectors to the castle. It just comes straight wires.
@@2fmrc I'll get the programmer. I am still trying to understand all of my adjustments to be made. Just got a DX5C transmitter for my Wraith Spawn, and aside from Speed and Steering, im not sure what im doing...yet. I need to find a video that dumbs it down for me. Now, will the prorammer take care of all adjustments needed outside of what a standard low end/option transmitter would? I figured I would put the Tactic (originally in my Spawn) receiver in my micro, and use the Tactic transmitter (Spawn) with it, to save more out of pocket costs.
@@TRKISH324 yep! Other than like your steering trim and those basic functions you normally do on your transmitter. The programmer will do things like punch control, drag brake etc.

Hey Matt! Great video. Can you run the surpass/esc on a stock transmitter/receiver? Trying to see how much money I want to dump into this. I just play with these on the side. I upgraded my stock motor, to a barrage but I don’t like how loud it is. I’m thinking brushless is the way I want to go. Thanks in advance for your time.
Help me here. My pinion won’t fit psat the spur gear through the hole I the shapeways mount. Mounted normal, the shoulder of the pinion hits the spur gear. Don’t want to hack up a new motor mount. What pinion do I need, what tooth? Thanks.
All about the mount and chassis. A lot of people also throw the battery in the rear or up high because of the layout with these motors & that just don’t work. Just gotta make it work! The motor being a few mm higher isn’t gonna make or break my rig. My driving isn’t that good 😆
Thanks from all of us that have been waiting to watch you do that. I already ordered an esc while waiting for the motor. Please tell me this will work.....www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B071GRSFBD?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image
Well..... I’m not totally sure that will work. Some of those only run one direction at a time. So you’ll have forward and no reverse. You can program it to run the other way but then you’ll have no forward and only reverse. I don’t think it’ll do both at the same time. I’m not 100% sure on this. You’ll have to play with the settings on it. Hopefully it has a good manual that can walk you through the settings.
@@2fmrc It doesn't, but it says it is plug and play for car, truck, boat. Or it can be programmed. Via card or controller. But the manual didn't translate well.
Trying out a hardbody. I hope it's not too heavy. Only using bare essential outer body so maybe not. In your expert opinion, how long should the surpass hold up in this rig? Mine already weighs close to a half pound without motor. Thanks
Less talking more action, your thumbnails always imply action yet there’s never any action. Most viewers on TH-cam know that time spent watching is $ earned for creators so the incentive is to create unnecessarily long & often boring videos that do not adhere to an organic flow of enthusiasm/interest they’re fueled by artificial parameters that generate money.. 🖐️🤠 greetings 2FM RC
Another brilliant share 👍
Thank you 🤝 from 🇬🇧
We have to cry & laugh 😂 because this video became available a week too late for us personally.
When we did our brushless install
the re-aligning of the drive shafts, like you said, kept falling apart as we lifted the frame to either make adjustments or to bolt things down. 🙃
We came up with a method to avoid this in future, but as you, we too had to experiment & figuring things out, eventually developing a simple method in 'how to do' process. 🤔
Lastly.......
we did not use any of the same components you used, as they are not easy to acquire over here;
and they take too long to aquire and cost much much more in the end; door-to-door. OUCH! 😭
In fact....... we're still waiting on some pieces.
✈️🚛 🥾📭 👀
In a nutshell, we went with an AEO micro outrunner that Gamyrc used with his micro motor plate on Shapeways.
THEN not till end of March21 😞
Thank you again 2FM RC for this superb video share! Your time & experimenting is well received and Very much appreciated 👍
Keep ROCKIN ON!

Wow! People are complaining that things are hard to come by here as well. Nowhere near as bad as you have it though. That’s the main reason I’ve been branching out trying to find alternatives for use here because we can’t get the things we always did before. Whatever makes them run I guess. What are the pros/cons running the 1200kv motor also available.??
Probably won’t notice much of a difference really but it would probably have a little more torque and less top speed.
Awesome video my rc friend 😀🤜
What would be the difference in using this motor vs a RGT Barrage?
More power, less heat, and paired with the Furitek esc WAYYYY smoother.
Do you know what size screws you used to mount the surpass to the motor mount?
3mm x 12mm should work

I dont really know what to look for while i am new to the hobby, and i can't find the dimensions or specs of the spur gear.

Well the hot racing spur is really the only option now. They removed the one from shapeways because the quality was so bad people were having issues with it. It wasn’t even usable. The hot racing one is getting hard to find. I’m going to mention to Treal that they should make one. We need someone else making these!

Wondering, 3M by 12 screws the same as the 3 mm x 12 screws for the motor to mount screws?
M3 should be 3mm
What kind of receiver is that? Did the programming card come with it?
I’m running the flysky gt5 so it’s the receiver to it. The program card don’t come with it. It does come with directions on programming with just the esc but a card is easier. The one I used isn’t actually for this esc but works if you follow along with the directions included.

My motor is hitting the frame and not allowing in to spin.
Yes. Mine was very tight as well. It would barely catch the corner of the motor. I just bent the frame rails slightly and it made it clear. Gamyrc tried to update the mount a bit to help but it’s still really tight on the Betty for some reason.

Is this the best motor upgrade for this? Lots of people seem to just replace with stock or slightly different brushed motor.

Help me here. My pinion won’t fit psat the spur gear through the hole I the shapeways mount. Mounted normal, the shoulder of the pinion hits the spur gear. Don’t want to hack up a new motor mount. What pinion do I need, what tooth? Thanks.
From what I have seen these big motors mounted high have not produced good results in these little trucks. Roll'n roll'n roll'n. ;-)
Thanks
Get everything out of your way...yet fights with the body the whole video
21:47 mins of it! You nailed it man!! Way to go lol
Better off showing tons of action! Learn how to entertain people like me who are looking for test footage that isn’t full of lame music annoying effects or slow motion.
Just drive around your build and talk about it all the while. Do everything with it, try new shit! Test out new parts. Idk
Lol then I post videos that are nothing but action and it gets under 1k views in 6 months 😆. Is what it is. I’ll do what I do. Not here to make money and definitely not here to please anyone. Not being rude. Just simple as it gets.

What mount do you use for the savoy servo?
