      NEVER put water on a leather glove on purpose. Is your brain a nerf ball? Break it in by playing catch. This video is complete trash.

    Glove oil, baseball in glove, and rubber band. Let that bad boy sit over night. And then play catch until your hand feels like it’s going to break. Beat it against the ground. Fold it with your hands. Play catch some more. Glove is broken in.
    I don’t know it’s been over 20 years. This is probably a better way if you have a pitching machine just laying around.

    Foam shaving cream works okay as long as it has lanolin in it as that is what softens the leather. The best thing I use on them is Nakona glove conditioner all over and inside and on the lacings, a hair dryer for heat and a good glove mallet for breaking down flex points with the pad and forming and softening the pocket just like catching. Everyone always wants the thumb and pinky tips flared on alot of the gloves I've done. You may have to adjust and trim some of your lacing afterwords to your likeing as well due to stretching after break in. Pitching machines work great too.

  • @brentdonhauser
    @brentdonhauser ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I simply play catch with it and use it in the field during BP. I’m a pitcher so I always order stiff in the custom process. It takes me a season using it as a back up glove to break it in. So I actually prefer Japanese kip leather so I buy Wilson Staff or Kubota Slugger gloves.

  • @redshamrock05

    Baseball (or two, or a softball depending on glove) in pocket. Rubber band glove closed, you can even kind of roll the finger tips into it but I just like to fold the glove like I’m wearing it) put it under your mattress for the night. Go play catch with it.

    Most of my family played baseball we did it old school with linseed oil and left a ball in the glove then wrapped it up so it would stretch out the glove. I played first base and was catcher , didn't like playing short stop and right field was fun.

    • @J_ismyname48
      @J_ismyname48 ปีที่แล้ว

      Linseed oil? Like for wood? Cool, I have never heard of anyone using it on leather. I use boiled linseed oil alot on wood projects as it dries or oxidizes a bit faster but it seems like it would cause the leather to breakdown over time during use and flexing after the linseed oil eventuaally oxidizes it actually somewhat hardens. I take your word for it tho, just bc I've never heard of using it doesn't mean it doesn't work. Nice! 👍👍

    There is a gel to it like when you have a new glove you have to put that gel on it and wait about like two days

    Little bit of glove oil. a baseball and a rubber band is all I ever used. Then of course playing catch or smacking my fist into the glove.

    Saddle soap Ball in the glove under your mattress. If you use hot water you'd better use oil.
