Look into a well tech designs bumper and see if they can modify a swing arm off the bumper to it the generator on. aAlso they may be able to build a box on the swing arm for it. Then it won’t hang so low and be closer to the van.

What about build a plywood box over the generator and paint it white. Latch it down and pad lock it, until you need to use generator?

Other than that there are 12 volt AC units that are smaller and could have run off battery bank.
