Love the pick, I've been a big fan of Yakemchuks for months. When I saw mock drafts had him going to Buffalo I was dreading that a bit. They always say big mean RHD are never available, you have to draft them.

The Sens definately need more depth at RD so I'd be fine with getting another one. It's hard to get RD in the NHL that you don't develop yourself. Forwards are alot easier to obtain and sign
A good player but not at 7 for me. But I’m not a hockey scout so what do I know? Hard to not be a disappointed. If we’d have traded and got him at 12-13 I’d be happy.

Yakemchuk had a great statistical year but consider that his birthday was two weeks short of making him part of the previous draft. Not a fan of this pick. He will be 19 in September.

After all the rounds have been through we drafted a bunch of 6'+ mutants. This is what this team needs after the Dorion draft years.

That's not true. One of the things Carter needs to work on is his skating and Ottawa has a top notch skating coach. She helped Mark Stone improve his skating tremendously and he became a star player.
YakemCHUK and TkaCHUK will be scary when together. The CHUK power lol.

I'm not a fan of the pick at 7 that being said it's good to hear the Sens understand that they will need to take their time with Yakemchuk. I don't think we see him in the NHL for 3-4 years and I actually see that as a good thing for him I hope we don't rush him and take our time let him refine his defensive game and make sure his skating is up to par before he makes the jump to the NHL. Going to be a good project for the development staff and Shelley Kettles he needs to ikprove his backwards skating and play in transition but you have to think that the development staff is super excited to get to mold Yakemchuk into that mean RHD which with him being so raw they have that ability to mold him
