That double words topic is so useful for me. I hv been reading my swiss family group chat and has no idea what they are on everytime when they use double words in their conversation. Now everything make sense! please I beg you to make another video of it! thanks for all the hardwords and definitly will buy ur book !
Thanks for making these videos, they've really been helping me out. I've been doing an exchange in Kanton Bern for 8 months and I've been saying "Hallo" to everyone cause whenever I say "Gruusech" to people they look at me weird. Now I know I need to especially enunciate the "ue"😅. Mercii Viumau!
Happy New Year Andrea! Grüezi ! I have been studying Hochdeutsch for about 3 years now. When I learn Hochdeutsch completely I will have more time to study Swiss German. I hope that will be very soon. It is so much fun! But I still always check in once in a while to see how you are doing! -- Best regards -- John from Minnesota
That sounds good, John! Wish you all the best with learning German! I'm sure you'll make a lot of progress this year. And yes, I'm always happy to see you here! Have a great day, Andrea
Hoi Andrea! Yippie! Mein Land Indonesien als Beispiel 🤗 Merci vielmal! Es gefällt mir sehr, wie Du uns die Aussprache Swiss German beibringst. Von Grammatik her sind ja einiges einfacher als Hochdeutsch. Guets Nöis liebi Andrea. Uf es bessers Johr 😊
Hello! I will be visiting Praden,Switzerland as well as Chur this coming Summer. Will I be able to use the Zurich Dialect and be ok, or will they give me funny looks? What is your recommendation?
@@SwissGermanBeginners Ok thank you so much. I am an absolutely beginner- i speak no german or swiss german. I am visiting my host family for a 2 week stay in Praden and am very excited!! Do you think i should continue to learn Swiss german phrases ? Do you think they will appreciate that , or should i just learn normal German? Thank you!
@@laurenb9019 I'm sure they'll appreciate it very much!! They might tell you how to "properly" say things (in their dialect) but they will certainly love it if you know some Swiss German 😍😃
Thank you for the content, as a learner of Swiss German in Basel, your accent is different, just as an idea, could you make a video on the differences?

for your information , we don’t “do” mistakes in a language , in English, we “make” them.. Yes I know it is a common error for many foreigners as the verbs are the same word in many languages
I have been contemplating visiting Geneva for a few years, and finally decided to visit later this year. Your channel is very helpful and I’m excited to learn proper Swiss German. Merci Vielmal!
So great to hear this, Kevin! 😃 Keep in mind that Geneva lies in the french speaking part of Switzerland though.. so why not come to Lucerne or Zurich instead? 😁
@@SwissGermanBeginners do they speak mostly French in Geneva? I was so excited about learning Swiss German 😭 I was aiming for Geneva since I would only visit a week, and it’s a smaller city than Zurich.
@@KevinCdva I’m an Englishman living in Luzern, or just outside of it in Nidwalden. You could easily holiday here for a week, not to mention Bern, Zurich and Basel are all about an hour away. I recommend checking out the Lauterbrunnen region and Engelberg. I have family in Geneva too, trust me, there’s no Swiss German spoken there at all 😂
Merci Vielmal...❣
Now.., I also lived so many years in Swiss...🌲🇨🇭⛳

Haha lobe that!! You know Gruusech could also be understood as "gruusig/gruuseg", which means ugly 😅😅
Thank You so much for your videos. For me, as non-German speaker Your channel is a gem!
Thank you so much!
Thank you, I really have learnt with your videos! and btw, I always have said "Grüzi (german accent) hahaha

You can use the Zurich dialect, no problem 😁 the problem is more that you might find it difficult to understand their dialect at first.

Yes that's correct too! Just another dialect 😁
@@SwissGermanBeginners which one ?. Is it from Bern ?
Can be Basel or Aargau for example. Berndütsch would be "danke viumau".
The first pronunciation of grüezi is literally the only one I‘ve ever heard in Zürich so this might be an exaggeration to say it’s not Swiss 😂
Well then it was probably a german
