      So no one is worried about the 9yr old drinking pop but everyone is freaking out about a toddler wanting his pacifier? Hey, I'm not judging EITHER - my kids have pop sometimes and one of my three kids had her paci until she was three (though, admittedly, not in public - but I didn't institute that rule on the fly in the middle of a restaurant full of people!). It's just interesting to see people getting nasty about a TODDLER. A toddler who is having his one real source of comfort removed with no prior warning in the middle of a crowded restaurant. Of course he's going to go off...we all saw that coming.

      I'm sorry, but that is a horrible thing to say. I hope this mother never reads that. I can't imagine someone seeing one of my kids at their worst and then commenting that I should not have had them!!!! The mother allowed the paci and the behaviors - her parenting techniques needed to be modified. Her TODDLER was not to blame. Jeez.

      So many parents just cannot cope with their children [as Supernanny programme shows] ..The families with behavioural problems all seem to have three or more children.

      She should have put crying one in pushchair and made sure he couldn't get out.its awful children al behaving yet one who misbehaved gets mums love and attention.he needs to realise he wont get attention and give her love to good children.even so young babies and children can manipulate a situation.not that crying like that is fun as it's not.glad I wasnt eating lunch in cafe that day.

      @alicedahl7532 5 ปีที่แล้ว +278

      I think Super Nanny knew exactly what she was doing. The whole trip to the Restaurant was to make the mother face what she had created. The pacifier was the best tool to use for this lesson as he supposedly only used it at bedtime. So why is he using it at lunch? Maybe mom gave it to him thinking it would "pacify" him and he would behave. That was a lesson for mom way more than for the child.

You have to talk with children and set them up for success. She should have communicated her plan and set a timer. Example: Billy, you can have five more minutes with your pacifier. When the timer goes off I will hold it for you and give it back after lunch. Children are more likely to cooperate when adults do their part consistently and effectively. Poor child.

      In my favorite restaurant there was a kid screaming at the top of his lungs and everyone was staring at her and when she caught my gaze she went “I’m so sorry” and I told her “Your kid doesn’t belong in public!” She covered her face in her hands and started sobbing. Her husband looked like he was going to get up and say something but I grabbed my drink and he sat back down. Told him “That’s what I thought.” (I was too sober to be dealing with that) The manager told them to leave and when they made them way to the door everyone in the restaurant started clapping.

    This was the perfect setting for teaching both the child AND the mother. Although, it was rough on the other diners, the mother and child had to experience this lesson at the restaurant since this was the place where the mother was clueless, and the child was never given rules and guidance. Telling the child ahead of time "we're going to a restaurant so you'll have to behave", would fall on deaf ears. This kid had to experience the lesson right there at the place where he has his tantrums. It's kind of like teaching someone to swim by letting them experience having their bodies in water, and not just looking at the water. Glad the nanny offered to pay for the man's meal at the end.

      yeah but see I'd have taken my child to the bathroom, given her three firm swats on the bare butt, and then sat her down for a good long lecture as to why her behavior was unacceptable. You can't let a child have control. This Mom just let the toddler take control, and it wasn't fair on her, on her other children, or on the diners. But most importantly it wasn't fair to the toddler himself. Children need to learn self control. They need to learn what is allowable in public. How far they can push mom and dad before they get an abject lesson in manners. This mom learned how important it is to maintain control over her children. She'll get it now.

    To everyone getting upset with Jo taking the pacifier from the kid cuz he was uncomfortable or whatever the case. She was just making a point on how the mom has done nothing but coddle the kid and given in when he pisses and moans. At this age he needs to learn to not get his way and be too old for a pacifier, besides she paid for the other customer’s food for having to deal with that. That boy is too old for that and should have given it up at the age of one or one in a half, whether it’s the pacifier or not point is this mom kept giving into his tantrums and that’s how you get reactions like this.

    • @asheisadora
      @asheisadora 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@BJKage I agree he's too old for nappies. I very much disagree that when people eat out they should be prepared to be exposed to behavior like that. That was not a "crying" child. That was a screaming, badly spoiled child having a major tantrum to get his way, and it was loud and prolonged. Restaurant customers should not be expected to put up having their eardrums blown out and their meals disrupted. If Junior is known to act that way, then he should stay home with a sitter. Hopefully Jo's laying down the law will be a step in the right direction.

      My mother, at my father's direction, took my pacifier away when I was a year old. I ended up sucking my thumb for years after that. After all no one could take that away from me. That's not the answer. What is the answer? Being firm with any child from the beginning. When it is time to take the binky out they do so or they get a spanking and a lecture. And as they get older you tell them they need to give it up or their teeth are going to come in all nutty and they will look like a goofy rabbit. By that time most kids have friends at day care or at school, and they will be willing to give it up anyway. My daughter gave up her binky and her bottle on he own at a year and a half. The answer to a child like the one on this video is to be firm. Mom is the boss. Not the kid. If they figure out that all it does is get them pain and a lecture they will quit.

      This little boy is 2... not autistic.. he has been let to control everyone his entire life. He screams he gets whatever he wants, scream louder get it faster.... the cycle HAS to be stopped! Jo was trying to get the mom to understand its not going to go away with age, he will just be a bigger monster running the entire house! He might be 2, but he UNDERSTOOD EVERY word Jo said to him!! Seriously don't like it when adults use the excuse they're only 2 they don't understand.. Toddlers aren't stupid they are extremely smart their brains hold information like a sponge. You teach them early or deal with the consequences!! As for me my 1yr old 2yr old 3, 4, 5, 6, 7... ect will NEVER be the boss, and I will be able to go to restaurants, ride on planes, sit in church, go to a store, without dealing with crap like that!! No way!!

      The mom brought the nanny in because the behavior was so bad. What good does it do unless she lets the nanny charge while she's there? The mom essentially GAVE authority over to the nanny for the duration of her visit when she agreed to the show.. If there wasn't a problem, nanny would not have been brought in.
