Suggestion for the developers: After the focus test, highlight the tags in the left panel, so it is easier and faster for the player to see if the spin angle is compatible with the country.
This looks like a great game. I suspect SplatterCat only scratched the surface at this point. I have a few questions to the Devs (he seems somewhat active in the comments here, which I applaud). - Procedural generation of countries' metrics is a good idea, IMHO. I like the variety of gameplay if will afford. Since gameplay starts in 2060, there's nothing that says how nations will develop between now and then. However, it seems to me there are a lot of "extreme" position of demographics (lots of all-right or all-left). Is that on purpose? Do you aim to have more extreme nation positions? - Also, do you guarantee diversification of demographic stats, or is it possible to have a starting gameplay with all nation being Spiritual, for example? - Maybe this was mentioned, but will nation's demographic evolve on their own, outside of your influence? This looks great. I haven't backed any game since The (traitorous) Mandate, so.. I just might for you. Don't feel pressured answering my questions please, I will make my choice after playing your demo, regardless of whether you answer me or not!
Dev here, thanks! And yes, I thought that 2060 gave me enough time to say "Oh well all the nations just did really wacky stuff in the 2040s" or whatever. - Each nation is generated so that it has one culture slider in position 0, one in position 1, and so on. So that way I avoid creating nations which are all super extreme, or all super meh (in the middle). But the actual cultures which are affected are random - it's just the spread which is predetermined. - So it is possible that every nation will be incredibly spiritual, but it's very unlikely - what will probably happen is you'll just get a more or less even spread. There have been playthroughs where, for instance, there isn't enough Novelty globally, but it's never a massive problem since there are always 3 or 4 other spin angles to choose from anyway. - And yes, every nation's culture changes randomly. Every 10ish turns (I think) each nation will shift a random slider in a random direction, to simulate general cultural drift. And I hope you have fun with the demo! :) Sorry it took me 5 days to respond, I'm running around trying to keep all these plates spinning for the Kickstarter.
Would be cool if there was a currency conversion problem you had to always be aware of. Like the U.S. has a stable currency but it still has inflation of ~3% per year, so every turn you'll lose (1/4 × 3%) to inflation. Or you could move your money to investments or bonds so that you lose less per turn. Or you can keep it in shell corps in tax havens. This would also lower your taxable amount cuz the taxable profit is hidden there under the guise of "intellectual property royalties"
Mister Stone I heard you might need the services of a person with a certain skill set. 500 Nuyen for basics. Negotiate prices from there for more complex tasks. -Black Sun
Hi there, I'm the developer! Sorry to hear you had trouble starting the game. Can you send me your system info, and tell me exactly what the problem was? Thanks! :)
Does the game say that they sell your ideas? Otherwise I'd go with the explanation that you're losing the people who know what to do and replace them with people who knows about as much as Jon Snow. Not to mention that they might've done stuff that falls between the lines.
Dev here - never seen it, but it was actually based on Banana Republics, real situations where the US military would topple nations to get certain crops easily (notably bananas). So we might have been working from the same inspiration.
Thanks for the video. The game is actually something I'd be interested in. But I find that the regional characteristics seem way random. In preferences and government system. Are they randomly generated for every playthrough?
Dev here - yeah, I decided to procedurally generate every country's starting culture each time. Basically I know enough about North America and Europe to predict where they might end up, but I have no idea what I'd do for South America or Asia. So they're all random rn, plus it means every playthrough is a little bit different.
Thanks. That makes much more sense now. Although I'd prefer the game would try to model the regions in a more realistic way, as the procedurally generated world breaks the immersion for me. Still very much interested in the game though. Cheers!
Dev here, and yes, I partly made the game to show people how I understand the world of megacorps, media, economies and government intersect :P then I put a cyberpunk wrapping on it.
He's played all the HBS video games here on his channel, but he's also played tabletop with some friends over on EnterElysium's channel. If you go to the playlist sections you can find them, the latter series is called Roll4It

Hi, thanks for the unexpected reply. I actually need to see about recreating the problem so I can better describe it.
Anddddd I must have selected the wrong resolution in the config file... works fine now.
interesting but crazy, we all know this is how the world really works. RESIST

This is too close to real life for it to be a simple game. Maybe education in another form
Alex W it's a sad thing to realize that the Brave New World of dystopian novels and movies seems much more likely than Roddenberrys star trek future.
