- The program is expected to provide dental coverage to uninsured families who earn a household income of under $90,000. It is being rolled out in phases and the eligibility age brackets will be lowered in the coming months.
The program, which the government forecasts will cost $13 billion over five years, is a key part of the Liberal government's political pact with the NDP. About 1 point 7 million Canadians have signed up for the plan but only 5 thousand dentists have -- with many saying they have concerns about the program.

another day another scam
Another scam they are are so full of bs
7 million Canadians versus 5000 dentists, ya that’s gonna play out well. Another failure coming up
Are you volunteering to be the one deciding who "deserves" to have access to dental care or not?
Another incompetent Liberal talking head.
There is not one file these Liberals have not screwed up. The dentists don’t trust the government.
What a joke.
Trudeau should be removed.
The lies. They are only offering 70% of the fee guide and most offices operate at an 80% overhead for expenses. More vote buying attempts here, small business is suppose to take the brunt of it, and they get the political points. What he said here is all BS.
Big nothing-burger.., my 89 year old mom lives in the country and no dentists in the area are signing up
7 million patients for 5,000 dentists? That's 1 dentist for every 1,400 people! Even if each dentist sees 10 patients/day, that's only 1 visit every 4 years for each patient. Good luck with that.
Funny, I just came back from a dentist appointment and my dentist said Mark Holland is a non-truthful slime ball.
If you'd remove the boot from our collective throats. Maybe, we could pay for our own dental ... The arrogance that this government thinks they know how to spend MY money better than MYSELF.
How is the Canadian govt's boot on your throat?
The boot(s) that are really choking us are worn by corporations.
I am in Ontario and my dentist told me that he will not accept new patients under this plan.
Dentists won’t sign a 7 page contract that limits their fees 😮
Ive heard a few dentists are not signing up.
My dentist has already informed me that they are not signing on for the plan. I have never had dental coverage. We always paid our own bills. Now I am elderly and living on a fixed income. I just canceled my latest cleaning and exam. With the cost of living etc. It’s just too expensive.
My dentist went stateside citing tax reasons. At least I can still get my basic dental done which is all I really need. No dentist in their right mind would sign up for this.
What a total joke
I paid for that but won't get the benefit of it. I have to rely on my work benefits while some Brampton type can have pearly white teeth.
BS, same as dental benefits from EI.
Dentist don't want to treat those people, because the price that goverment pays it's not fair, and not even close to regular fee guides for provinces.
Will this new dental plan help us pay for our gas, heating and groceries, stop crime like car theft, robberies and home invasions?! Will it help Canadians buy homes and condos and help renters find lower rents?! Will it bring down the price of vehicles BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, will this new dental plan get rid of the Liberal Party so that Canadians can get back to what life was before all this crime and corruption from these elected officials?!
Yes liberals and all their bad ideas need to go!
lol it’s not going to work as everyone has been saying from the beginning
I pay 400 a month for family dental coverage, and I had to stop going three years ago to ensure my wife and children have the full coverage they need.
Everytime I went, the dentist would ding me for an additional $300-$500.
FK paying for other people.
They arent my responsibility, my family is.
I guess I'll just have to wait until this cavity abscesses and I can go to the hospital, wait for two days and have it ripped out.
Canada is a joke.
News flash-physicians don’t extract teeth.
The vast majority of Canadians aren’t eligible for this program… coverage for everyone? Literally what are you talking about? Government mixing with insurance companies…. Hmmm fascism at its finest.
literally not fascism in the least.
@@junkandcrapamen government and insurance companies working together to extort any Canadian family that earns more then 70,000 per year. All the agreements were signed behind closed doors and have been sealed till 2049… so stealing money from the not rich to give to the relatively poor? It’s all for votes. Learn what fascism* is, maybe read the bill or stay abreast of the context of these agreements. There’s a reason why ever single dental authority in Canada doesn’t agree with this… but yeah* just because you say so it’s not fascism…present an argument?
This guy still employed by us?
Scam
A dentist doesn't need to accept any government benefits. They pay 1/4 of the provinces pay guide. Disability has the same issue.
"YeAh ... Im So apPrEciAtIve oF tHe DocTeRs oUt ThErE" ... (slaps a massive increase to cap gains on doctors.
So senior dental plan.
I wish the liberals would fix the healthcare and more, instead of creating a new mess all the time. So tired of Trudeau.
Healthcare is provincial. Dump this, a future government who knows how to stay in their power lanes.
So more of my tax money taken and given to someone else.
my dentist in the city said he is signing up but who knows if that is accurate....but he is a nice guy
All this means is I am forced to pay for your dental as well as my own.
Sooo fed up with being forced to pay for others in socialist canada.
Right!
This guy oozes slime. Fair? Haha
65 and older smh 🤦♂🤦♂
How do I apply. I am 68
the government makes it sound so simple but it's not. they are making the dentists look like the bad guys for not signing up but the public has no clue of the disaster behind the scenes that they are putting the dentists through. i don't blame them one bit for being hesitant.
Dental care plan is very expensive in Canada. Those who cannot afford dental plan needs 70% covered from the government to get the treatment.
The way dental companies charge the money, I don't support the greediness.
This is absolutely ridiculous. At 65, your teeth are already gone. You need dental care in your 30s, 40s, 50s. At 65, it's already late. Canadian political bullshit is up through the roof already.
Actually there r many elderly people that need there teeth done.
@@FayeCroke no question about it. However, at 65 your teeth are destroyed. If you start with dental care at 30, when you hit 65 you're still in good shape. Why at 65???
70????
What a joke I'm on odsp and no dentist would except me as a patient unless I payed cash over the counter, because the government don't pay enough
I have been in real need of a denture and have been saving as best I could so now I am very grateful for this program. I have an appointment for May 7!!!
😂🤣what a maroon
Moron
Just been reading that it's another big scam
BS
Liberals are Wacho for Cracko....
Hope eye exams are next.
There should be no Signing-up requirements. Subject to reasonable limitations, a dentist who does not participate in the plan should loose his license or be fined.
Cons would rather spend millions on weapons of war than dental care.
Socialized dental is a great idea and hopefully this brings down the cost of dental, which is currently way overpriced. The best countries have universal health care. Dentists get paid enough - it's not like they are unable to do business - and if anything this will improve business for them.
It's not a scam, it's the beginning of universal dental care being supplied with universal health care.
The people in the comments that are complaining that dentists don't make enough money already or that this doesn't cover enough people are just toxic professional whiners.
Dentists aren't going to lower their rates.
@@carla89cc Well then we need more competition.
Do free dental fir those who don't work
How about ... get a job.
I busted my ass all my life, owned my own firm, always paid the max into CPP and dutifully paid my taxes.
I don't have a cushy pension or dental plan as I trusted the Gov't to meet it's promise to look after me when I retired.
The average CPP payment s $831.92 per month and you think I'm some sort of freeloader?
SCREW YOU!
disgusting that they made it so the number of 'eligilble Canadians' far outweighs the number of eligible dentists.....by ensuring dentists wouldn't WANT to tak epart in sucha scheme.
Normalize worker and utility co-ops and Ⓐctive unions. Democratize🗳️the workplace. Workers make this nation run, workers should run this nation☭.🏴🇨🇦
Unions are the biggest mafia in Canada👎that hold other non unions members hostage every time they think they're worth more.
Dentists are underpaid heroes. 🙏
Are they!? I don't think so. I think they fail to bring cost savings to their customers by buying into a lot of unnecessary equipment from suppliers that inflate their prices too much, driving up the cost of dental.
@@Merakis100 Do they now? What unnecessary equipment are you referencing?
@@Four20ftw The manufacturers of dental equipment charge ridiculous prices for things as simple as a headlamp. Dentist offices are paying upwards of $700 each for head lamps that are put together from $20 worth of parts. The price of dental has been artificially inflated by the health care equipment and medical substance supply industries.
My old landlord in Toronto was a dentist and I lived above his office on St Clair Ave. He retired in his late 50s and he GAVE his son, who had just graduated dental school, the building. GAVE it to him. Any idea how much commercial space in Toronto is worth? Millions.
I don't think Dr Truncone was ever underpaid. He was an awesome landlord though and didn't raise my rent for the 8 years I lived there.
They're paid just fine.
Nurses, otoh, are underpaid heroes.
Which the NDP force them to have the liberal party does not want Canadians to have dental plan or else they would have came out with their own idea!
Because the NDP has their an existent balls vice
