Hello Ade, Nice video... I like the format of having a couple of projects on the go and switching between them... See you on the next one... Take care. Paul,,
@@graemebrumfitt6668 Awe come on Graeme, that's not how it works! I don't know, maybe a bottle of Clearasil, that's good for getting rid of hard spots lol. Cheers, Jon
@@CraigLYoung Hey hi Craig and we have to share we love being back, work has been a lot here thankfully. Nice to meet you over here watching Ade with us, he is the coolest guy, we think this anyways. L&P.
Another excellent video Ade, thanks so much for sharing. Started machining the steam chest cover for my S50 last night and had the same problem - rock hard! Might try another viewer's suggestion and use a fly cutter.
Hi Ade. I had exactly the same issue with the steam chest cover being chilled. I emailed Stuart with a photo showing the shiny chilled areas and they sent me a replacement that was fine to machine. The chilled casting ate a couple of cutters while I was trying with it.
That skin wasn't fun! I'm not sure I'd have risked a good carbide cutter on it. Perhaps a Quorn, a Bonelle or a Stent tool & cutter grinder on the distant horizon? Good video, as usual. Thanks, Ade.
Thanks for sharing! This may not work on your mill but I built a socket/soft blow hammer, ie TOT design, for my mill. I found that instead of turning the quill at the base for threading it's easier to use my tool and turn it at the top. Then again being that I'm 6' 3" tall, it's easier for me to reach the top than most people.
Well done, as always. Thanks for the joy You bring in Your videos, with or without the green jumper.... I've got my pants and they have a lot more of "ventilation"! To me it looks like the casting brings a lot of trouble instead of solving matters. The part of today would be much easier to make out of piece of steel, maybe even from the scrap bin.
Hi Ade hope your well Dude, I had a similar problem with the base of the base on my 10V, it was like milling glass the cutter literally pinged of the edge, resorted to filling in the end! TFS, GB :)
Lovely little cover Ade, amazingly lots of processes there. I truly enjoy these steam engine builds and hope they encourage me to take the plunge some day. Enjoyed very much, cheers mate!
When I tried to face the cover one edge was so hard I could not touch it. In the end I used a diamond file to bring it down flat to the rest of the surface.
Gday Ades, beautiful job mate, really enjoying this build, cheers
Nice job on the cover Ade 👍👍 Machining small parts like that is always difficult as there is so little to hold onto. Cheers, Alan.
I enjoy your videos very much. Your presentation style is fun and comfortable. Thank you.
G’day Ade. The little cover came out a treat, well done. Great series.
Cheers
Peter

I find your style quite engaging. The little notepad sketches are very helpful. Looking forward to the rest of this build.
Thanks for the video.
Dan
Enjoying this series. I have the same kit which I will restart next year! Your series will be very useful.
My S50 cover was chilled too Ade. I had 3 of them and all were chilled. Buggered up multiple HSS cutters. Carbide for sure.
Hi Ade, just watched your video about Hyundai lawnmowers, and bought one. great video 👍
Coming along nicely 👌
Thanks Ade, I do enjoy these videos, steam engine or no steam engine.

Good video, as usual. Thanks, Ade.
your mill is nice and quiet, mine emits a cacophony of noises from the power feeds and gears.... poor old thing is getting on in years, bit like me

Some nice precision there Ade. Great vlog thanks for sharing.

You could have used a fly cutter with a HSS cutter. It probably would have cut better, and if it got blunted it would be easy to resharpened.
That little iron cover is too hard. I might have heated it red and let it cool slowly in insulation (like fire brick) to annneil it. Love your work.
I think a fly cutter would have spared you the heartache of blunting end cutters.
Ade, just a kind word to you. Choo woo.
Hi ade could you send me a list of parts i need to make the x powerfeed and where to buy parts i have same mill
ring Stuart they will send you another one
Thanks Ade
