You really are a talented content creator. You figured out right away that the RBU´s can engage Torpedos. Other didnt know about it untill someone told them. You have shown that you have a lot of knowledge about military equipment and MilSims in the past, esspecially in DCS. So i think you will very quickly get a grasp on (Soviet) Naval stuff as well. On top of that you have one of the best and most calm voices out there, perfectly made to explain complex stuff and it is relaxing to watch and listen. So i really hope that we will see more Sea Power content.
Thanks kindly! You know, sometimes i end up doubting myself, wondering if what i come up with is enjoyable, worth everyone's time. So i greatly appreciate the kind words.
This mission was so frustrating till I reversed engineered it in mission builder playing as a permit sub (didn't know at the time it was a sturgeon), and saw the ships use the RBU-6000 on my torperdos. You can't do that in Cold Waters so I didn't even think of it.
I’ve tried this mission so many times…. Tonight I finally at least detected the enemy sub, fired two anti submarine torpedoes carried by rockets…. But it got away and I got sunk again
I'm only 2:30 and I'm already impressed with the creativity of editing. That opening shot showing above and below the surface is brilliant. Nice to see another vid from you, hope you're doing good.
Thanks! Yeah, it's a pretty great sim, lacks depth of systems operation, but the modelling of sensors is awesome, letting you operate a wide range of combatants. I'm not sure how much more I'll cover Sea Power, it'll depend on the response to this video, though tutorials may be a consideration.
@@RedKiteRender I hope you do. I very much enjoyed watching you tackle these 2 scenarios and was interesting to see your thought processes and actions as they played out. I've not played this type of game before so any tips would be most greatfully receieved! 😁
I've been watching other content creators play this game for months, but I have never seen anyone actually attempt to target a torpedo as u did here. Not all ships have such weapons, of course, but to have them and not use them would be a travesty. Thx for posting this just hours before EA, much appreciated sir!
Good to see another RedKite video. I haven't played DCS for months just because of the whole RB/ED drama. This game has been on my radar since I like Cold Waters. It looks really good.
I've been watching development 4 years now! Its a little bit rough round the edges atm, missing quality of life features and the campaign, but it's a very promising survey sim! I really hope the RB/ED situation resolves amicably :(
Texbook tactics from both sides of the battle! You sure you havent' done this before a thousand times? :D Great tactic to expend your only 4 SS-N-14s torps to "scare" the sub to deploy noisemakers and reveal their approximate position. I would have never thought to launch torps at the enemy sub unless I had detected them with more reliability. Cant imagine what you can do with a ASW helo or two...
I think tactics were that soviets would have Udaloy/Krivak etc sitting tight/idle and Grishas to ping/locate the sub. Then engage with the torp on rocket
Certainly you don't want to get the big boys too close, their hopes of dodging a torpedo are poor. Struggle is, the detection range is short. So you've gotta screen to give them a chance to get out the way or intercept. Which probably puts them too far out for their hydrophones to be of much use beyond self defence.
What it should have been was a tutorial on how to use the RBU-6000s, but yes, Torpedoes to the face i the quintessential soviet experience in anti submarine warfare.
The first battle was more impressive than the second - the Sturgeon would have hated to see your plot, because you killed him firing at flashes and w/o seeing his actual hull. The second battle might have gone better for the Soviets (given the RBUs in this game) if you used the automatic engagement function rather than micromanaging.
I've rerun this scenario a couple times and more or less I'm always getting the sub without getting close enough to have a solid track on him from a ship. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on an alternative engagement approach. If i'd run up against an offset torpeedo, i'd have been in real trouble. pt2, I feel using an automatic engagement rather defeats the point if I've only got one unit in the first place! I was running my typical Cold Waters attack. Though, i wasn't aware there was an automatic attack function. My attack (although ambitious and risky) wasn't anything beyond the real submarine capabilities(well, unless it can only support 2 wires, which i can't remember at this point)
I'm just learning about this game recently and It looks amazing. Your scenario and tactics were brilliant! I would really love to see you take on an American CSG with a pack of Russian subs, see if you can put the "Carrier Killer" into its intended effect. Great video.
I7-8700k / 3080 / 32gb ram. It's more demanding than Cold Waters, my Steamdeck couldn't run it above low/30fps, but handled Cold Waters just fine. Even my PC was getting the odd hitch, inc during this video, it'll also stutter if you launch a really big missile attack or freeze loading a new aircraft. So some optimisation needed, but it runs well on my pc, hitching aside.

Really stylish and aggressive ASW action in the first part. ASW without a helo seems to be a nightmare...
Yeah it's a real nasty position, choosing not to engage might be the better option if permissible.

That was easily the most competent display of this scenario I've seen, and I look forward to watching more from you. Subbed.
Bravo Zulu!
You were very lucky with the mortar, i tried the mission multiple times and the torpedoes were almost never destroyed.
this game looks great! i hope you make more content for it, i will be picking it up and your explanation videos are some of the best.

Okay… I’ll remember these tactics. Great video !
Mission should be called "Torpedoes to the face"

I can't find the mission to play as the submarine. Is it on the NATO mission list? Excellent video, by the way.
You'll have to open it with the mission editor to play the other side.
@@RedKiteRender Thanks!

How can you play the submarine side?
Open it with the mission editor and swap sides.
@RedKiteRender nice, thank you
There’s also an identical mission under the NATO folder
Is that some sort of response to Reflected Simulations video ?
It's the name of the scenario, i did spot Reflected's video, but not until after this had gone live. Talk about coincidence!
Can I ask what specs you have and how you have found the game performance wise?

@@Error_-xn7po Unfortunately yes, they recommend an i5 8600k / GTX 1650 / 8gb ram as the min specs.
