    Thank you for this! I've been wondering how to do this on my LG washer for 7 years. Lol. I didn't even need to make a stopper either. I was able to hold my finger about 1/4" away from the hole and let the tab hit my finger, and then it retreated back into the locked position and stayed there.

    This video saved me work. I couldn’t figure out why I was getting the dl code. I was so close to ordering another switch until I watched this. The magnets in my lid lost their magnet force to the point where it wouldn’t tell the lock to trigger. So I just waved a strong magnet over the lid magnets and bam, now my washer works fine again

    • @hiphop360
      @hiphop360  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow.. so the magnets in your lid somehow got demagnetized? Are you saying that you were able to remagnetize them using a strong magnet? Or are you saying you now always have to use a strong magnet outside the lid in order to provide the magnetic field so your washer will work?

    • @Dayman7

    This was the best explanation I found on the 2 stage locking mechanism. I have a Whirlpool Cabrio but the mechanics are the same. With that in mind once I used the magnet to see what was happening I was able to use a deck of cards to determine the correct space the lock should stop (I did not have a lego) and determined that I needed something 1/4 inch in depth taped to the flat area where the lock protrudes and that worked. I was able to tape a nut (as in nut and bolt) that was exactly the same as the cards as determined by a micrometer, actually .24 inches. Then I theorized that after 4 years the two plastic parts had started wearing each other out and tried two pieces of duct tape to the inside of the lock holder on the door and what do you know the machine is working perfectly and I can send back the new locking mechanism I had just purchased from Walmart. Thanks again for the great video definitely got the creative juices going.

    Remove the switch using a phillips screwdriver and remove the plastic cover exposing the contacts and motor, but becareful not to bend the copper tabs inside. Then cut the wires to the magnetic sensor and connect them together (sensor will be removed and bypassed). Snap the cover back on and take 1.5" Velcro and wrap it around the plastic housing and tab, but make sure to leave a 5/16" gap in between the tab and velcro. Then take the sensor and tuck it down inside under the bleach tray corner area. Now the washer will run with the lid open.
    As for a permanent bypass (I doubt there is one unless you are a certified LG tech with a diagnostic tool). I believe the control board gets a signal from the tab position controlled by the small motor.
