Thank you so much for saving this mom of seven from going more than three days without a washing machine! I ordered the 02 from Amazon, and it works like a charm. The video was so helpful, I was able to replace the locking mechanism on my own while the hubby was still in meetings. You saved my sanity and laundry room from being stuffed to the brim with dirty laundry!
Nice vid! Currently losing hair over my lid that also had screws. Why on earth would they do that!?! Figured I could replace switch without removing lid, but glad to see you video that demonstated the thought I had.
Thanks you!! This saved me time and a lot of money. It cost $30 and got it from Amazon 2 days. Mine wasn’t exactly the same but real close. Awesome job!
I love this video I just found out if you look at the front top corners on the side of the washing machine, Both sides, you're gonna see a small white cap. Pop those take the screws out and you can lift the top of the washing machine..
@@HowtoandReviewsOfficial If you would like an update, everything went in smoothly and successfully, I would not have had a place to start. Had your video not existed, so thank you, sir
Just swapped mine out and works great, thanks for making this video showing how to do it w/o taking the whole washer apart. Took me an hour and I’m not super handy
Thanks sooooo much for this video!!! The hubby & I were able to fix our washing machine & didn't have to purchase a new one. You video was very helpful!!!! Thanks
Thank you for video. Despite the challenge working with big hands in the small space, got the replacement installed and am back in business. Mine had tiny twist ties holding cable so I had to replace with thinner guage wire to securely hold it in place. Wasn't confident it eould work, but all is good. Many thanks.
I bought the item with the link provided and it was exactly the part needed! This video was very helpful. It was a bit different since my model is an LG WT7300CW, but I made it work!
I really appreciate this video! I have the exact same washer as you have, and your video was easy to follow. Like you, I had trouble finding the 04 model, but I was able to overnight ship the 02 model from Amazon (gift card I had saved took a chunk of change off the price!). I replaced the lock switch today. I was sick when I did it, so I had to take a few breaks in the middle to lie down. Actually, I was halfway through the install when I realized I was installing the old lock. I probably wouldn't have noticed if the model numbers weren't different, so glad I went with the 02 model. Also, I got the washer used, and the previous owner actually put the lock wire under the support bar, attaching it with one of the blue clips. The way they positioned this clip, the part that you squeeze was on top instead of the bottom, and I spent a long time trying to slip my needle nose pliers into the gap to squeeze the top. I actually ended up breaking it. Luckily, the old owner also used wire to secure the wire from the switch, so I made use of that and pulled the wire through so there wasn't any extra slack. The way the old owner had it set up, it worked for me for about a little over a year, so I'm fairly optimistic. When I called the LG repair people, they quoted me $400 just to come out and look, and their soonest availability would have been a week out. Thanks to your video, I saved a bunch of money, and I've been able to do the laundry for the first time in two weeks. Thank you!
That was the most informative easy to follow along video ever!! My brother and I fixed it no problem!! You just saved me a lot of $$$$$! A+++++ video!!
Thank you so much for posting this. Repaired my washing machine because of it for just the cost of the part! Not going to lie though - getting that damn switch to come out of its socket took a LONG time. But got there in the end and it's working a charm! I also took the top panel off to make things less fiddly but that was just my preference.
Thank God for the reverse camera on my phone or I would have never gotten the screws out, or possibly dropped one in between the frame and wash tub because my lid would not open either using a putty knife. I was able to repair mine using your advice. Thanks for the video. Model WT5680H*A
Heeey , really amazing job.. i have a washing machine with a much older model ( T1809ADFH5 ) , with the same DL error code, would this lid locker that you used fit with my machine’s model? Bc I consider purchasing it .
I just took the white box apart and there are two leads that need to make contact at different times when the lock is sliding. My contact points were corroded. I scraped them real quick with a mini flat head and now it works. Bad thing is I lost one of the two screws 😂. Hopefully it got tangled up in the clothes already in the drum.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing! I considered disassembling my broken switch to see what was going on inside. And possibly repairing and keeping it on hand in case I need it again in the future. But, I didn’t… thanks for opening it up and sharing the results!
@@HowtoandReviewsOfficial mine was clicking like 10 times so I knew something still worked. I thought it was misaligned and not sliding all the way in so that was the only reason I took it apart. The 2 leads looks like the solder popped off but the sliding lock actually moves it off and on, up and down, depending on different sections of the slide. Great video!
REMOVE the LID following the instructions shown on video n5p3VuPEHF0 "How to Remove the Top Cover on a Kenmore or LG Top-Load Washer" where you just need to remove two extra screws in the back then lift and slide, don't try to pry it open from the front with this model. I could not get a normal scredriver to reach the zip ties without it removed and my hand was too big to get in there, so remove lid and have a helper hold it to prevent stress to harness.
thanks for the vid! was super helpful and just what i needed since i also need to replace the switch on my machine, did you ever find out if the EBF61674804 and EBF61674802 parts are interchangeable? the -04 are harder to find and def pricier 😅
I emailed a couple washing machine parts websites asking if they are interchangeable but didn’t receive a response. If you find out, let me know and I’ll add it to the video description!
Do not suggest purchasing from the Amazon Link included above - I did and been 3 weeks and still hasn't shipped - cancelled order and will search for the part myself. Great video though, thanks.
It’s hard to trust any brand these days. I switched to LG because my brand new front loading Whirlpool died after one year. I’ve been happy with the LG so far. I’ve had it for almost 3 years and I suppose I’m OK with throwing $30 at it for a lid lock switch.
Unfortunately, I do not have any additional experience or advice. I had a whirl pool washing machine a few years ago with an error. I replaced the part twice and it didn’t fix it. I had a repair person inspect it, and they agreed that part was the problem and recommended to try replacing the part one more time, because maybe the first two were defective. Third attempt didn’t work, so I bought a new washing machine. Unfortunately, that’s how it goes sometimes.
That sounds like some type of alignment issue. If your sure the lock works, but doesn’t go into the hole, try to determine the misalignment and the cause.
Oh wow! Mine is almost 2 years old and is still doing ok (other than the lid lock). I had a poor experience with whirlpool, which is why I switched to LG this time!

My guess would be it’s just a cheap motor inside that fails prematurely.
