a well put together video 💪
i'm not the expert at this, but usually i shoot with my long bow completely vertically, so that i get the height of my shot automatically, and that i only have to memorize the horizontal gap for each distance

Good video and very informative. I've been shooting traditional for about 2-1/2 years and loving it. I shoot some variation of instinctive/split-vision and it's going well. I tried gap shooting, but it remains a bit of a mystery for me. From 10-20 yards, if I aim the point of my arrow directly at the target, that's exactly where the arrow goes (provided I have a good release, of course). It does not fly low like many people say. I don't really understand the gap method.

Like to add. Proper arrow weight and spine makes a difference. 10 gpp at least
to reduce gap. Spine for consistency.

cool video, i haven't shot a recurve/longbow in probably over 40 years, thats all we had back then. i remember some guys would tape a wooden match stick to the riser like a sight pin. do your broadheads hit close to your field points with that set up? there really isn't much you can do to tune that type of bow.

Oh ya, I will do a video on that process too eventually. But they are perfect at the moment!

Time to start again. If your older and broken like me just reduce your draw weight. Tuning a trad set up is very subtle but makes a significant difference

Where do you focus your eyes when aiming? On the arrow tip or on the target? My gap at 20 yards is pretty big. Therefore, if I focus on the target, then I lose the arrow tip from the field of view. So, when i shoot I focus my eyes on the arrow tip. Although many people say that this is not right , but it works for me.

I focus on the target and let my dominant image of the arrow act like the front sight on a shotgun. I could have done a better job explaining that point, thank you bringing it up!

I too focused on the arrow when I started but was only shooting 10 15 yards, now I focus on the target with arrow in my peripheral. "Split" vision. Shoot distances out to 60 70 yards now (not accurately 😂).

Very informative, what is string walking ? Or is that a subject you can do video about

I tried it for a while and it didn’t work for me, but I might able to do a video in the future! I’d mostly for Olympics style archery .

String walking is instead of changing aiming gap for different distances you put the tip the same place and change the location on the string you place your fingers to draw. Tabs have a scale to locate the distance from the arrow knock exactly. Can be very accurate for a range of distances. Many hunters use a fixed walk and tie mark on the string for any shot 15 to 22 yrds to reduce decisions when hunting
