  • Sedona, Arizona is well-known for its rusty red rocks that dominate the desert landscape, but is the park named after this beautiful feature the best option for visitors? Today we visit for the first time, hike, and judge for ourselves.
    Red Rock State Park boasts 286 acre of nature to hike and relax in. Five miles of trails wind throughout the park, in and out of the greenery of juniper trees and other trees. Oak Creek wanders through the preserve providing a water source for animals and creating a lush riparian habitat perfect for cooling off in the shade.
    Inside the park are numerous overlooks giving the opportunity to view the fantastic rock formations of Cathedral Rock, Napoleon's Tomb, Seven Warriors, and the Three Sisters.
    A full museum and visitors center offers a variety of special programs for school groups and private groupsas well as a number of daily and weekly park events.

    Great video. I know exactly what you mean about the scenery being far away on video. Things always look so much bigger when you are there and you get home and you see the footage and things are so small.

      So true! 😅 As for the park though, it's rather removed from being in the red rocks themselves. Not so fantastic for being immersed in them, but GREAT for getting a good wide look at them.

    Even though the rocks are a ways out from the trail, the whole effect was so peaceful. As was the music. Another lovely hike, thanks to you both!

      Many thanks! Sometimes one has to stop and take in the whole scenery and the park really does offer that opportunity. 😊

    By the time the state established this park in 1986, like you mentioned in the video, most of Sedona was developed. Between the development and Forest land, the park was pushed to the outskirts. That said, it’s mission statement is the preservation of the riparian habitat along Oak Creek. It was almost named Oak Creek State Park because of that. Enjoyed the video.

    Twisted Junipers and Pines? Meaning? You said some of us would know what it means. Please tell. What does it mean?

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's kind of an old joke on the channel. There are many among the internet who would say that twisted junipers are a sign of vortexes (especially in and around Sedona, AZ). We filmed a video at Bell Rock in Sedona and sort of poked fun at the idea, but in general we find them pretty fascinating and beautiful. 😊

    Another great video- Superb editing! I think we take video quality for granted because there is so much great content out there, but it is always impressive to think that you guys are armatures (kinda) and still making excellent videos. Big fans here in Dallas!

    Maybe you said, but how much did it cost to enter/park?

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  ปีที่แล้ว

      We didn't mention or include it in the video as prices change over time. We do include the link to park websites, however, if there are any others you're interested in. Currently as of today (2/3/2023) the park's website lists admission as $7 for adults and $4 for children.

    Loved this SO MUCH! Such a beautiful place! I have a strong attachment to Sedona, and have been there 4 times in my life, but neither time was more than an overnight stay and a restaurant, and perhaps a bit of Shopping in town. Only got to do THIS kind of exploring when I was a very small child, and only briefly then!

    what trails get you closer to the mountain

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the park, probably no trails will take you super up close (we could be wrong) but if you're looking to be up in them, Bell Rock Trail or Cathedral Rock Trail would take you to them.
