Great info. But for those that are not aware, freezing the end of that tight upper section will surprise you all as to how much it will shrink the diameter! Weather sticking it in a bucket of ice or as we do when replacing large elevator motor commutator, we taped dry ice on the shaft end of the armature and placed a halogen lamp close to the commutator. A machine "press" fit will slip right on with ease. Then as the temperatures normalize the fit becomes rock solid.
I also get one from Radioddity and mine had the" business end" already mounted ( less the matching box ) the text in the manual specified where to connect the ground mesh. I had the antenna assembled in 1 hour. Also this is not an endfed vertical.
Unfortunately I have to correct you all, it is not an endfed. Basically all these types of antennas are a Windom antenna shortened with traps and are vertically polarized. And that's why it is only a 4:1 and not a higher impedance transformer. Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest.
I have this antenna and had the same problems putting it together. I’m handy enough and could fix it… but i shouldn’t have to fix a NEW antenna. I had it up for a year, then took it down. I’m tearing it apart and using the parts to build other antennas.
@@nigelgunn_W8IFF End fed vertical half wave with some tuning radials at the top and bottom. I think it's like a Cushcraft R5. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong

@@tomcruiser2407 Outstanding. The very essence of learning is to be open to correction. Thanks for this info and now I know 🙂👍
Since you seem very know knowlegeable about this antenna- Is there an easy way to add a 75 meter trap and thin whip to the top?
Your instructions were better than mine, at least you got color pics. 20m never did tune.
@@arkyump Bummer. Mine did ok

I'm waiting to see how long it holds up. Hopefully more than a year
It's half wave or quarter wave on each band? I didn't have any fit problems but for $230, what do you expect?

I thought no radials!!!!!!
chinese quality control.
Maybe it would have done better if it was made in the USA.
@@eddiepiecart6030 Yup
...but cost 10x as much too!
Don't throw it. Make something new. And better. Use the material. Next time you hear Xiegu, run.
