FT Link by SP4UBW. Your FT-991(A) is gonna love it
FT Link by Dariusz Tofiluk SP4UBW is gonna make you and your FT991(A) radio happy. Is that possible? Dunno, but my radio is happy. I've asked it.
Not merely a CAT radio controller and not just a memory/menu manager, but both in one doing both brilliantly. Really brilliantly IMHO.
And its free. Free as in beer. What does that even mean? I have no idea. But check it out and you'll want to buy Dariusz a beer. A good craft one with a decent kick.

    Unfortunately I have to correct you all, it is not an endfed. Basically all these types of antennas are a Windom antenna shortened with traps and are vertically polarized. And that's why it is only a 4:1 and not a higher impedance transformer. Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest.

    Hey thanks for this vid. I hope you will share some real "on-the-air" results. You went to a lot of effort to show how this could go together (with a lot of effort, that would have made me mad at the designer/vendor!), and it had good SWR on the bands. But a dummy load also shows similar results (maybe a bit better! Haha). Can you do a little comparative work to show signal levels (or, S/N levels) on this antenna versus any other antenna? I would love to see that. Please don't think I am slamming you, I really appreciate you taking the time to show your experience with that antenna so far. Sure would like for you to continue to report on your QSOs, hope you have many good QSOs and fun with it. All the best.

    • @ernietech-101
      @ernietech-101 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No prob. Not thinking you're slamming me at all. In fact, I consider it 'peer-review' of sorts. Since I ascribe to the scientific method, I like repeatable results and quality evidence. Well, the VG4 is my only antenna now but before that I had a Par End-Fed EF-17 that was uninspiring to say the least. But with the VG4 I have 88 countries confirmed since it went up in my QRZ.com logbook with FT8 or FT4 and no more than 50 watts from the FT-991A. No i understand that this is not a head-to-head comparison but for about the same amount of effort in this general period of the current solar cycle, my CQ or call ratio compared to the same with the EF-17 is better. And I gave the EF-17 away. Anecdotal? Different bands? Yes, but that's my experience. Thanks for asking!

      If you don't see the frequency, there are two options: - you don't get correct frames from the radio; - you do not receive frames due to transmission errors on the cable. There is no other option. The buttons work because commands are sent independently of the frame reception, but this is not a solution. Frames must be received correctly to use the program. Update. I emailed Radioddity to advise of the poor packaging and the change of mounting hardware. Apparently,, the length of two components (5 & 7) have also been changed. I haven't assembled the antenna yet, but concerned that the measurements used by others from a video by KK6USY may now be wrong. Here's the reply I received today: Hello Debbie, Thanks for reaching out to Radioddity Support! I am Helen and I'm happy to assist you with this. Thank you for your detailed feedback! We are glad to know that your VG-4 antenna and accessories were delivered smoothly, but we are deeply sorry for the damage to the packaging during transportation. At the same time, we will take your opinions on improving packaging precautions seriously to ensure safer transportation in the future and reflect our attention to our products. Sorry the supplier modified the parts so the VG4 you received without the main support plate is correct and does not affect installation. Please check carefully according to the user manual to see if there are accessories missing. After Xiegu confirmed, the accessories of the VG4 antenna have been changed. The main support set plate and four U-shaped clamps have been removed and replaced with two U-shaped clamps (as shown below): The lengths of No. 5 and No. 7 of the antenna body have also been unified, both changed to 250 mm. We have corrected the product listing, are communicating with the supplier, and modify the installation method of the instructions. I suggest you try the installation again. We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause. Hope for your kind understanding. Regards, Helen Lu Radioddity Support Team
