A suggestion MD, though the soil or water or other stuff are cycled earlier....adding fresh soil will leach ammonia and shrimps can't handle that. Give them time in the old water and add after sometime. It's just my experience regarding this. Happy Aquascaping!❤️

I'm so jealous of how much more affordable aquascaping is in the UK and how much easier it is to get access to quality materials. The aquascaping hobby in the US is pretty much monopolized by like, 3 brands which makes everything incredibly expensive.

I have a lot of cherry shrimps with my betta but the tank (10 gallons)is very heavenly planted and yea at the beginning he was very interested in them (not aggressive) but now he doesn’t care. Careful with ghost shrimps as I had some with my betta and they loved to fight with him for food. They would nip at the tail

I also read an article a few months back saying that water fleas (cyclops) thrive when the water quality is great. And they're part of the cleaning crew as they eat decaying organic material, detritus, most algae, bacteria and yeast. But their presence also indicates that you have an excess amount of food. I have them in my shrimp tank too.
Well done for creating this piece btw!

Hi MD crs are caridina shrimp and they prefer lower ph water. the crushed lava rock actually increases the ph thus lava rock is mainly used for keeping Sulawesi shrimp or neocaridina shrimp in the hobby. But if you check the ph and it doesn’t increase too much I think that wouldn’t cause too much of a problem. Hope this helps :)

Sponge filter, filters water by the flow created by the air bubbles coming up, so more the flow more efficient the filtration. But as u kept it hanging in top there won't be good filtration.

The thing you’re saying about water fleas, in a survival situation, if you came across two ponds of water, one completely clear with nothing swimming in it, and one slightly dirty, full of things swimming around in it, you’d want to collect your water from the dirty one. If nothing is growing in the water, it’s a sign there is something wrong with it. So yeah, you’re right. 🤙🏻

You might not see this as busy as you are, but if you do, I think putting an elbow on the top of the sponge filter lift tube will reduce the bubbling and splashing in that corner and also give you a slow circular water flow if you angle the opening towards the front.

That looks fantastic. I still think you need a tall plant in the corner between those racks. Can't wait to watch the other tanks getting set up.

I think it would be awesome if you could do a rockpool aquarium only using stuff you find on the beach!!

Personally i would never mix 2 types of hairgrass.
When ghey spread with their runners it all mixes up
To get this look its easier for maitenance to get the big one only and trim it short or let it grow however you want.
Forgot to say right now it looks amazing 👌

I been watching your vids for a few months now. And it’s bugging me where I know you from. Our paths have crossed and I can’t think where. Love your work tho just wish I had more time to have more tanks my self. I live alone and my reptiles take up to much of my time. So I’m happy just with my 180l community aquascape tank.

normally u should put some hiding place for the shrimp because they usually change their shells and need a place to hide before the shells be harder ,and this help a lot to make the shrimp lay their eggs
sorry if i got it wrong this is just my teory

Beautiful. Water fleas are cool, but I worry about plenaria in a no-fish tank.
