I left for the Highlands of Scotland, but I do miss the good old days before it was over run with crime and drugs.

Some good photographs. Best viewed slowed down, I found.
Most notable for me were the Fine Fare in Forster Square (when it wasn't a square anymore!) Famous for its inclusion in the film Billy Liar along with all the construction around; and the remains of Busby's basement. I was cycling home from work one afternoon and stopped to watch as smoke had started coming out of the windows of the old closed-down store on Manningham Lane. Then the fire engines came and I thought they'd soon have the fire out.
As we know it burned to the ground, as did the Royal Standard pub opposite, and around the same time. This coincidence was very timely as it allowed the swift development of the road works that would eventually bring to the city, the beautiful splendour of Ham Strasse - a magnet for so many.
Bradford has had many similar strokes of luck, as its old, disused victorian architecture happened to burn down just as the council wanted to replace it with our current, modern, regimented heaps of concrete, steel, glass and asbestos; much of which is now in the process of itself being torn-down.

Wish I'd had the foresight to take photo's of my time growing up in Bradford, so many memories in your photo's, especially the ones taken on Leeds Road, judging by the cars these would have been taken mid to late 1970s.

The Cemetery pub! My first job was behind there, at lunchtime it was absolutely normal to split times and go for a pint & food with your workmates, no wonder we were happier then.

.50 is the demolition site on Manningham Lane where Debenhams/Busby’s dept store used to be. I left Debenhams in February 1978 and the store remained open for a few months longer. Apparently there was a preservation order on the ornate frontage to the building and it burnt down some time following.

The most noticeable thing is that no cars appear to be parked on the pavement i travel on of these roads daily and you would find it hard to walk unobstructed for Audi's and Golfs.
