Causes of the current state of Britain's big cities can probably be summed up as: decline of UK manufacturing; decisions made by councils and developers, leading to new buildings and shopping centres that lack the attractive architectural features seen in older buildings; a massive influx of relatively poor individuals and families
i know, when you look up at the architecture you can see the wealth and heritage of the city so well. Its so sad that now its more like a 3rd world slum isnt it
The city centre is half the size it used to be. Anyone visiting today would think it a small town because so many streets of shops and buildings have just disappeared. 10:20 is a good example. These streets are no longer there. This is just a road and open spaces now going past the Odeon and Alhambra. This is the same all over Bradford centre. It's a real shame.
Born in bradford in 1958 was dragged away in 67 to live in lancashire we went back on a visit in 1973 the house we lived in on st stevens road had gone but my old school ryan st juniors was still standing watching this brought back memories
I went back last week to visit my Brother and friends, some of the buildings are still standing but look very strange against the new buildings it's such a shame things have to change 😪. I called in at Leeds too it's like the New York skyline and very easy get lost now there's so many changes...
thanks for this, interesting to see how places i know, and a once great industrial city has now changed. i have known bradford well since the 70's, and have lived in one of the better areas on the outskirts for almost 30 years now, but whenever anyone asks me where i live, i don't want to even acknowledge bradford at all, it's joke and a shithole now, and we all know why. the ridiculous woke 'city of culture' award for 2025 is totally pathetic, given to pacify just one culture, and it's not ours. i rarely go anywhere near the city now unless forced to, in part coz the standard of driving has to be the worst anywhere in the country.
Lovely pictures of a bygone era. Thank you 😊
Looked better then as in now

Beautiful ❤ I enjoyed the multiple features of Bolling hall.
Once a proud city! Been in decline for decades now!

Blame corrupt Councils for destroying what was once grandeur. Sickening and a real shame.

Is it nostalgia for the past ? Is it reincarnation ? Either way I feel that I have walked those streets, somewhere in time !

The majority in the city are White. Stop blaming minorities for all your problems. Blame those who destroyed the city centre in the first place.
Wasn’t always a shithole
Excuse me 😡
