    I was 15 at the time. So freaking priviledged and honored to have experienced the 70s as a teenager

    Those cheers at the beginning and Dick Clark’s intro... chills! This must have been so much fun! I wish I was around at that time! I pray music from that era will return to popular culture for my generation and be as loved as it was... 🥲

    Aww, look at all these fresh-faced, all-American kids just having a blast dancing in their own unique ways to one of the best disco songs ever released! They all look so cute and "girl/boy next door". I really, really wish someone could invent time machine technology so I could live in the 1970s. This was the best time for youth culture, from "Summer Breeze" to Donna Summer. And I would kill for some of these fashions! Long live the '70s!

    This is the bomb! Seeing the reaction of the kids when this song was new, it's priceless. It's still an incredible & timeless song 32 years later. Donna Summer RULES!!!!

    🤔 This song is/was a head of its time. A lot of kids are having a hard time dancing to it. 👑 Donna Summer was diffinatly the Queen of disco/dance. The song went up to #6 on the Pop charts,l believe. 😊 #1 on the British charts.

    • @edgetaker
      @edgetaker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1977, a month before Saturday Night Fever came on the scene..so ahead of its time. I don't think people were having a hard time dancing to it....looking at the studio, I think they were so packed in ..even on the risers...they probably couldn't move as freely as they would have liked.

      I was five years old when my sister came home one day with this 45. It was unlike anything that had been heard on the radio at that time. It was new. It was revolutionary. It still sounds futuristic 45 years later.

    Disco that became the first commercially played tracks like this, originated in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands..ahead of their time in sync pop..which was prolific in The British New Wave of a few years later. Yes this lit the Dance floors in clubs in NYC and Boston. Love it

    My favorite part of this entire clip is during the time of 2:53 til the end, espeically when the lady with the funny hair realizes she's on camara. You can just feel the energy in that studio.

    Oh, the memories ~ Dittos (saddleback, of course), tiny tight t-shirts, NO bras (how daring and cool, we were totally groovy), platform shoes (on guys and girls alike), puka shell necklaces, and feathered hair ~ all afloat in a sea of polyester. And God how we LOVED to dance!

    @djguy1 That's because AB did disco better than Soul Train. Dick Clark said once before he loved the disco era the best. Don Cornelius didn't care too much for disco and he definitely didn't like rap, but he went with what was hot.

    Gag, children this is what it was all about fashion, hair, looking fierce, check out the chick @ 3:04 she is all that! she represents what that time was all about, she made me miss those days, chicks I hung out with dressed to impress, they didn't want to look like everyone else, it was all about originality.

      Mikalo Madge eyes my guess is you know nothing about fashion or being fierce so I wouldn't expect you to get her or her look. No worries, mama is fierce and she knows it.

      @mrinkspot2245 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      123dynamics I suppose, but why her? Why not that girl 1:47? Or her @ 1:25? I think they're more polished and stylish.

    • @123dynamics
      @123dynamics 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mikalo Madge eyes because the people you pointed out are average looking/average dressed, very safe in their choice of fashion. I like people who stand out and think outside of the box. She's dressed very New York , very studio 54 which was the club to go to in Manhattan back in the day.

    • @mrinkspot2245
      @mrinkspot2245 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      123dynamics You know, I guess you're right. She is trying to stick out so I don't blame that girl for that.

Fact its still super fresh and never gets tired means back then they mustve been like WTF is this lol. WHY arent there 'moments' in music anymore that come semi close to that 3:00 minute mark :/. Prior to this disco was basically ALL 4 on the floor, Barry White, The Hustle sounding songs.

      This recording is quite blurry for some reason. I'm guessing it was recorded at home on a VCR that needed a good cleaning. Either that, or it was recorded in the SP 6 hour mode. I like Donna Summer, but I've always found this song to be monotonous and boring.

      Jako32 .... Disco, born out of the black and gay clubs of the very late 60s and early 70s. You could hear disco coming in many late 60s Motown songs. It popped its head out beginning in 1970, more noticeable by 72 and everywhere by 74… Strangely, in 1980 it returns to its underground roots in the club scene, morphed itself into House Music and many other dance genres. The history is quite interesting.
