  • Sylvester was amazing to work with ...really talented, a pro in every sense of the word! Wow....As Cherrill says "In time they will be regarded as nostalgic reflections of the disco era" ...and as we now know they are!

    I like the way the intro pays respect to the iconic artists of the 50's and affords Disco artists the same importance and respect by comparing them and taking them equally seriously - that is something that very, very rarely happened! Disco rarely comes across well on TV - you need the volume and atmosphere to bring out the real dynamism of it's natural setting - the club. This trio were incredible live. I saw them onstage in concert in London 1979 and the version they did of Dance (Disco Heat) with the extended vocal interplay on the breakdown parts was a life changer for me, a spiritual experience. Where is the show actually from? The ladies are wearing the outfits they wear on their own Two Tons O' Fun album.

    im gonna download this and edit out that dreadful 1 minute of tired lame chatter at the beginning - Syl and 2 Ton BLEW! LOVED IT! So sad this level of raw talent is non existent now. RIP Sylvester and Izora.

      Izora was the other backup singer 👩‍🎤 to our right. Martha Wash was the other on the right behind Sylvester 👍🏼Both dynamic singers.

      Wow, I forgot Izora passed away 😮
      On September 16, 2004, Izora Armstead died of heart failure at age 62. She was know as part of the group “The Weather Girls” and also “Two Tons of Fun” and I think in her latter years she sung live background vocals for Sylvester. Both were great talents and such a great loss!

    La vida de Sylvester, fue muy lamentable, su juventud, fue muy lamentable; que Dios lo tenga en su gloria, porque no se debe juzgar sin saber .😘🌈😘🌈😍🌈😘🌈. Gracias por compartir desde Puerto Rico.

    He wasn't only a gay icon in our community. But also a disco legend...!!!

    • @discounderground6481
      @discounderground6481 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I would add : A music legend, not only disco. His music is more than disco ( and uptempo r&b is more appropriate than the term disco ). Soul, Funk, Gospel, Soulful, Pop, all these genres are infused in his music. And he s a legend for people who are not gay too. He s a legend, admired, respected by all the music lovers, gay or not. He's so underrated unfortunately.
