It was absolutely STUNNING !!! BEST JIVE EVER !!! It was like watching two pros dancing together. Exquisite technique - super sharp and bouncy. The choreography was so, so intricate (there were so many small details , every beat of the song was accented amazingly). Terrific dancing quality, sensational musicality, fabulous acting, super intricate and intense choreography which she handled astonishingly well and flawless technique - it was BEYOND FANTASTIC and BEYOND MESMERISING!!! A 10!!!
She is in my opinion the best contestant they've ever had on this show. Yes yes, dance experience (not in latin and ballroom mind) but all the dance training in the world doesn't give you the performance level she has. She completely and utterly sells each dance. People can have so many different opinions about her but I am thrilled she's done Strictly. And Pasha is rising to the challenge each week. 10
Stephanie Gale not true there’s having a dance talent and having a ‘performance’ factor. Some people have it and some don’t. Ashley has that beyond any professional ability. It’s very tired now brb going to watch Steps.
@@topcatrox That is true, not all artist have the IT factor that Ashley has. In my opinion lets say Faye who is a part of a group she doesn't have that IT factor.
God I LOVED this! I have never seen Jive technique better than this on any celebrity dance show! I just knew that this would be her dance! I love the fish and chips shop theme. Her kicks are as sharp as some of the pros! I was amazed! Her arms also looked controlled, and she managed some WILD movements without getting off time! Craig should have got his 10 paddle out last week for her Contemporary but the fact that he didn't made this moment even more amazing- for those who watched it live- did you hear that anticipation in the ballroom when the voiceover called out his name for the score? Finally a female celeb to beat Jill Halfpenny's Jive. 10.

@j4Rose no I think its that she already has experience. She's been dancing since she was 3 studied dancing in school and is a former member of the pussycat dolls, hence making it unfair for the other contestants like Stacy, Charles and Joe who are really working hard on improving and learning new things that Ashley learnt when she was in school.
Alfreddoplays 19 I agree! 💯 percent!! Literally, you guys need to GET A GRIP! Let me give you guys all a few pointers here from a fellow professional dancer who may even have taken a few classes in the same room as this girl: A) BALLROOM IS NOT THE SAME AS THE INDUSTRY THAT WE/WERE IN! Being a trained dancer in Hip Hop, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, etc is SOOOOOOO nowhere near close to the training you need to be a ballroom dancer. I took two latin ballroom privates at Dance With Me (Maks/Val/Tony from DWTS) dance studio in LA. This lady attempted to teach Cha Cha basics and......a JIVE, what you just saw performed by Ashley. When I tell you, it was like dancing ALL OVER AGAIN with two left feet. It was like my first day back in dance class. I literally felt embarrassed that people were watching me lol. Its a whole different vocabulary. Its all different movement. Its different weight changes and different weight placement. Its different usage of the body. The ONLY advantages that Ashley has coming from a professional dance background is the understanding of her body, rhythm, musicality, and memorization skills (maybe a few small minor things I cant think of). I mean, the basics of Jive is staying on the balls of our feet and bouncing...that was SO DIFFICULT FOR ME! Its a brand new way to think of using your body. So...Ashley is BUSTING her ass and nailing these dances because when I tell you it was hard for me, Im sure its SO hard for her. Give her some props. Shes performing. Shes killing it and shes busting her ass. You cant take away from her performance quality and how good she looks. Sure, shes getting great scores and slaying the competition but thats because of her work ethic. This doesnt come natural to her, I can guarantee that. It feels different. Anyways. Im so tired of people comparing ballroom to other dance training. Its far beyond different.
Definitely well deserved. What an accomplished performance which demonstrated just how good Ashley is both in and out of hold with splendid isolations. One of those dances you don't want to end. :)
I'm soooo glad they had that well-deserved perfect score, and in one of the trickiest dances of them all!!!! They are brilliant. I'm #TeamPashley FOREVER!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
This song will always remind me of Alesha’s Jive. She was good then when she did that Jive with Matt. But this one was simply out of this world! Look at those mean kicks and flicks! It’s executed so precisely she almost looks TOO good doing it (did she do Jive before in her life?!). And I especially love those Shirley moves (airplane moves I call it). Those are HARD and never attempted on Strictly and Ashley did it like she has been executing those move since childhood. This is an amazing routine, beautifully choreographed, and the best routine of the night for me. A worthy 10!
Much better than Alesha's jive - there were a couple of throwback tracks this eve (Dancing Fool will always remind me of Jason Donovan's showdance!). She really is indistinguishable from the pros. I really like her, but she is almost too good to be on the show really. I know we have ringers - Faye is also a ringer, as was Danny - but Ashley really is the ringiest of all ringers. But she is very likeable and I enjoy watching her.
@@annec42 I actually don't mind ringers as long as they tackle really challenging routines. Danny Mac was the ringest of all male celeb ringers for me but I LOVED seeing him on the dance floor.
Pasha as always King of the Jive. You know you're in for some brilliant choreogaphy, amazing footwork and sheer enjoyment. He's the best male dancer on the show now by far.
Gotta be honest. While I think this is nearly perfectly done, it leaves me cold. It's almost so good that it's boring to watch. And I think that's why so many people gravitate towards and are invested in contestants like Joe (or Charles), who's really busting his butt, it doesn't come _as_ natural to him, and yet he progresses and improves so nicely. There's an arc, and that's quite more exciting and charming to behold.
...Ashley is "too good it's almost boring", I personally look forward to Ashley's dances every week because I know they are going to be exciting, well executed and well choreographed. Ashley isn't trained in Ballroom. Yes, she has dancing experience, but it's totally different dance experience to the skills required on Strictly! Ashley is doing amazing and I'm glad she ignores the haters and smashes her dance each week, well deserved 40!
Yeah but ballet is the foundation to EVERY dance style from commercial to ballroom , therefore any dance background would automatically give her an unfair advantage. It’s like saying Ariana grande doesn’t have an advantage over people that have never sung before because it’s an opera competition and she’s never sung opera...
Stephanie Gale I see you’ve read the other viewer’s Ariana/Opera comment. I just think people need to chill, she’s on the show and it’s not changing despite people moaning! Plus she’s doing a damn fine job.
I respect that some people watch strictly to see novice dancers take on the challenge, but I wish those people would respect that some people love to watch the dancing and to see how these styles are supposed to be done! Ashley did just that tonight (as she does every week), and I'm so glad she's on the show. Surely this has got to be one of the best jives ever performed on strictly!?
I'm glad you said it! I watch Strictly for enjoyable dancing and that can be done be either a novice or someone with experience. Yes, Ashley does have a lot of dance training but it doesn't bother me in the slightest when we're given routines like the Jive she did
@@acig9881 exactly! both novice dancers and experienced dancers have produced some of my favourite strictly routines, I wish people could just sit back and enjoy the dancing without getting hung up over who has the most experience!
It's a show where many ex dancers have been on, but they never got so many negative comments as Ashley has. It's a competition so she should win, even if she don't, this show will enhance her career, what with her singer I can see her in the near future in a West End Musical.
One of the best jives I’ve ever seen on strictly come dancing 💃🏼. Ashely and Pasha will definitely the WINNERs of strictly come dancing 2018 I really hope she wins I’ll be crying if they don’t win 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🥳🥳🥳🥳
If I see one more person criticise Ashley’s place on the show just because of her dance background I’m going to lose it. Having pop stars on the show is nothing new to Strictly. You’re all forgetting about all the other contestants that have dance backgrounds also, even since the beginning of Strictly - where’s the same critique for them? People just have to find flaws in everything and need to drag others down when they’re thriving. And Ashley is clearly exceptional. No one would want to watch the show if they were all crappy at dancing, you need to have good ones to balance it out. So enjoy the damn show and stop with all the negativity. Ashley works hard and puts on a fantastic performance each week despite not being trained in this area of dance. She makes the show worth watching.
Finally Craig gets his 10 paddle out! Very well deserved. I don't care about Ashley's dance experience. The people who continue to moan about it can bore off. All of her and Pasha's dances are amazing to watch every week.
This dance requires a health warning. Just rewatching with my morning cup of tea and honestly nearly choked to death with excitement: NOT TO BE VIEWED WHILST EATING / DRINKING 🙈😵😻😻😻💕❤️🎶
This was so friggin' awesome!!! Favorite routine of the night. (I just kept saying YES! all the way through, lol.) I don't care about her dance training. Pasha is long overdue for a great partner - they are perfect together... Also, I thought the pro dancers were integrated beautifully into this routine, whereas in some other dances they detracted from the celeb.
All I keep reading are ‘it’s so unfair’ comments. How old are these people? You know what’s truly unfair the amount of abuse this girl is taking for being asked to star on an entertainment show, and even worse is the fact she has no chance of winning it and someone who is mediocre at best will go on to win. Still she takes the abuse smiles and delivers smash hit after smash hit which I find amazingly satisfying.
I’m so sick of seeing these ‘she’s a professional dancer, it’s not fair’ comments. Firstly, she is NOT trained in ballroom or Latin dance. The only thing she actually has up on the others is picking up choreography quick and knowing the beat of the music. I don’t see the same comments regarding Faye? I’ve always learnt that someone who is doing something right will be the ones who have the most negativity thrown at them. She’s so good, and it’s amazing to actually see such good dancing on a series. If you don’t like the dance or the dancer, why bother wasting your energy? Move on.
If you did even the tiniest bit of research, you would know that it doesn't really matter that she hasn't been specifically trained in Latin and ballroom. That much is evidenced in her performances. She has been professionally trained in all kinds of dance since the age of 3! She is up to the same standard as the professionals she is dancing with! It makes it pointless to the other contestants even showing up. That's why people get annoyed. Before making silly comments like 'shes not trained in Latin or ballroom' when you have been professionally trained in dance since you were three I'm sure you've probably a one over on everyone else!
She should have gone into strictly as a judge not a constestant. Her fellow Pussycat doll was a judge on the skyone dancing show... which sums this up. She’s amazing but too good.
Aston, who also judged the skyone show Got To Dance, was a contestant last year. It doesn't matter if they have got dance experience, I'd rather watch a show with good routines than lots of newbies
Wish people would stop whingeing if they don’t like Ashley or disagree with her being on the show then don’t vote for her. Every year there’s a contestant or two who has had some form of dance training only prerequisite for Strictly is that they don’t have a Ballroom / Latin dance background. If Ray Quinn was a contestant then I could understand because he was a junior Latin & Ballroom dance champion. People complained about Alesha Dixon, Frankie Bridge, Denise Van Outen note usually women and even Danny Mac. I personally find Ashley entertaining and I want to see a mix of abilities those that go on a journey - those that are good and keep upping their game - those that are pure entertainment
There were quite a few that complained about Debbie McGee having dance experience last year & being catty about her ballet. There have been a few others out there that have had dancing experience even Faye Tozer this season. So what is the problem with Ashley Roberts also having dancing experience. Really enjoy watching Pashley & Stacey Dooley & Kevin Clifton either must win!!
I'm not really that fussed about her previous dance experience. I think it's more a positive her being on the show. I mean, I'm not sure if any of the other dancers think this, but if I was on the show, I'd be playing Ashley's dance background to my advantage, as if to say "Look, you may be getting high scores every week, but you know what? Sod your previous experience. I'm going to match you."
it's not by the blues brothers, although it appeared in their movie. Original version was by the Five Du Tones famously covered by James & Bobby Purify , Tina turner recorded it and then it was in The Blues Brothers.
The entire routine was incredible. Ashley is a natural born dancer, worthy of the maximum score.

@ Craig finally gives a ten? Couldn't be more worthy a dance to bestow his first ten of the series!
@@scdobserver835 actually think Ashley is ringier! But I agree.
@@annec42 Ah, but notice I say Danny Mac is the ringest of MALE celebs? See what I did there?! LOL
Fantastic Jive. Should be the winners. You rock Ashley 💙💙💙
Pasha as always King of the Jive. You know you're in for some brilliant choreogaphy, amazing footwork and sheer enjoyment. He's the best male dancer on the show now by far.
That was brilliant. I love Ashley and pasha
Yard Name totally agree with this 🙌🏻
could not agree more with you, underrated comment
Ashley's the best get over it.
Gareth Wiseman
Opinions, opinions.
Yard Name
Yes definitely agree
...Ashley is "too good it's almost boring", I personally look forward to Ashley's dances every week because I know they are going to be exciting, well executed and well choreographed.
@@Lucy-cb8nr I completely agree with you!
I cant hear this song without thinking of a tap routine i did like four years ago lol
Is she a professional dancer? Yes. But does she make the show great viewing? Yes, Yes and Yes!
It's a show where many ex dancers have been on, but they never got so many negative comments as Ashley has. It's a competition so she should win, even if she don't, this show will enhance her career, what with her singer I can see her in the near future in a West End Musical.
Alexandra Burke got a barrage of hate last year, simply for being in a couple of musicals that had minimal dancing in them!
It felt like a musical scene, loved every second of it 😍
Wow. She is amazing!!!!
THANK YOU!!!
well said
I think Stacey Dooley makes the show worth watching but I respect your opinion!
@@amyring4054 Stacey is also great to watch, people can enjoy more than one performer
@@yelyahgemma Very true!
TENS TENS TENS ACROSS THE BOARD!! Well deserved Ashley!! ♥️♥️
I love this. They look like they had so much fun!
That was a totally well deserved 40!!! Ashley does it like a pro dancer 😎
All I can say is, brilliant Jive, well done and a deserved top score.
She deserves to win she works very hard even for a dancer.
This is just a different level
Truly amazing, she deserves to WIN
Hannah Marsh nah it's unfair she's a professional they should let someone who is a beginner to dancing to win
still missin pasha !!
Amazing. No other words.
It is astonishing to me that women can dance like this in high heels.
At this point I don't even care that she could dance before... This was perfect!
The real winners of strictly 2018
I love, love love this dance. Definitely deserved a 40.
Ashley is a great dancer.
Finally Craig gets his 10 paddle out! Very well deserved. I don't care about Ashley's dance experience. The people who continue to moan about it can bore off. All of her and Pasha's dances are amazing to watch every week.
you cant really say it doesnt matter when shes on a dancing competion with news readers who have never danced etc .
So good! They deserved their 40 💖
This dance requires a health warning. Just rewatching with my morning cup of tea and honestly nearly choked to death with excitement: NOT TO BE VIEWED WHILST EATING / DRINKING 🙈😵😻😻😻💕❤️🎶
Ashley is amazing and should have won.
Absolutely first class!
My dad said that this was really good and I replied, she has danced before.
I love strictly 😍😍😍😍
Amazing. They are a joy to watch!
Fabulous
They carried out their.vendetta against Ashley but she pulled through and her brilliance as a dancer shines out from every one of these recollections.
She should have won she was the best out of that season
God gave them all such gift of dance, He loves them and wants a relationship with them and you❤️love
Best Duo! 😍😍😍
why is no-one talking about how much energy the guy in the black and white shirt has
MY FAVOURITE COUPLE IN STRICTLY 2018💋💋💋💞💋💋💞
God tier
Wow, that was super explosive!
HAWT!
she my winner
She should have gone into strictly as a judge not a constestant. Her fellow Pussycat doll was a judge on the skyone dancing show... which sums this up. She’s amazing but too good.
Either a Judge, or one of the pro dancers that don't have a partner, but are in the group pro dances.
Aston, who also judged the skyone show Got To Dance, was a contestant last year. It doesn't matter if they have got dance experience, I'd rather watch a show with good routines than lots of newbies
True she was a judge on dancing ice also!
that's the point of strictly tho- celebrities whi haven't danced before compete.
@@emmabailey-wright1957
Awesome!
Well done... it’s long overdue .. perfect score👏👏👏
Lovely dancers
That's brilliant!
You have to remember that even though she’s had dance experience, her dances are significantly harder than the others
Ed Lockley they r harder because she's a dancer duh
If a swingathon was done Ashley would definitely win it! Speaking of swingathons and stuff I wonder what they will do this year.
it's not by the blues brothers, although it appeared in their movie. Original version was by the Five Du Tones famously covered by James & Bobby Purify , Tina turner recorded it and then it was in The Blues Brothers.
Wow 🤩
What a pro!! Oops, see what I did there 😂
