You said it right you can't go back . this whole video brings a tear to my eyes witnessing what has happened to the beloved Keys. I first stepped on those once beautiful islands in 1959 , just a few fish camps a few motels and of course Tiki bars. I lived in Key Largo and was a partner in a commercial snapper boat. We sold to the Keys Lobster house which was next to the old pilot house. That bar restaurant was a whole lot different from what you showed in your video. It was mostly a small hangout for the local fishermen with two pool tables and about a dozen tables for dinner. It was later sold to Ernie Bean who up scaled it a little, nothing like what I saw in your video. I don't know who owns it now after Ernie died. The ridiculous traffic you showed is one of the reasons I packed out and headed to Colorado. When it took an hour to drive from my house near the 100mi. mk. down to the Tiki Bar Holiday isle on weekends, I knew the Keys were doomed. That scene out there on the Islamorada sandbar is natural disaster. It's no wonder the beautiful reefs I used to fish on now are just over crowded bleached out rock piles. So sad what man can do to paradise

Love the Keys...Lived on Long Island for 34 years..born there, so I loveee the ocean. Still in the North East - but love the Key's best. Good to visit. Thanks. Robert, awesome as usual and you keep reminding me of the state I miss. My mother lived down in Key Largo and worked at Holiday Isle for quite a few years. I knew Joe Roth and his wife, the owners and they some of the nicest people you could meet. They would even come deliver food when my mother was home sick. I miss the old Tiki Bar. Didn't;t know it had been torn down. I haven't been to the resort since Joe sold it when he got sick. We are still planning on coming your way in July. Looks like Marham Park it will be for a couple of nights. No keys the trip. Anyway, just wanted to hi again and thank you for letting me live in Florida vicariously through your videos.

It does make me sad when radical changes come to my favorite places though. So much of South Florida is so nostalgic to me. To me there's nowhere else like it ... or where I'd rather be ... but I do miss how it was when I actually lived there, especially Key West ! So not the same and way more crowded ... but I get incredibly homesick watching you there ... I still *_love_* it a LOT!!!
I know what you mean by change. I ended up in Leesville, LA to visit my dad's and his mom's gravesites. Grandma's house is gone and now a subdivision of brick houses, the crawfish shack on main street ain't what it used to be, and downtown Leesville has gotten much bigger since the last time I was there in 2005. I'm saddened about the old places lost or changed but excited about discovering new places. Thanks for this video since I didn't get the chance to go to the Florida Keys on my long trip to Orlando (went to St. Augustine instead).
I ate at Dennys Cuban Cafe over xmas....it was good....old school Cuban feel. lady behind the counter was nice. note: their Cuban bread is yellow and no its.not the mustard. Great video Roberto!!!!!
I just bought our boat from Denny. His father was the owner of the liquor store next door. Named it after his son. Now it's just a discount liquor store after he sold it.

The only other travel channel I know where the guy acts like a normal person like Robert... meaning he doesn't act all gimmicky or YouTubish is the guy who has the travel Channel called prsw 100... he lives in Hong Kong and has traveled to some really fascinating places and also does some truly nice videography and he also has a wonderful narrating voice .

This August we are going to Quebec City and have watched your video on your trip there a few times. Also wondering how you are doing with 4k? I just edited my first 4k video from our Easter weekend trip and it was a bear editing.

Once again! Quit following me! LOL! I have been to the Pilot House several times. I never saw an RV Park there, and I ride my bike a bit when there. I kind of get where it may be, there are trailers at that skinny inlet. The Fish market across the way is not the same party seen as Islamorada, but it is a great fish market. The Tiki Bar at Windly Key burned down, and Holiday Isle was purchased by a dude named Paul, he called it Postcard Inn! Then the place got trashed in a storm. It has been rebuilt, but we can no longer get a slip there. They cater to fishing charter boats on long-term leases. Now on that sandbar, a fun spot. We take the dingy there. Like 23 years ago, we were watching our seven-year-old son walk on water, I mean a full sprint run, and dove into the boat. SHARK! We knew better and calmly walked back, and sure enough, a two-foot hammerhead! LOL! I love the Key's, but have not been there in a few years. (We are in Pompano) We charter sailboats, but our next chapter will try the RV, and to own it. None of this we have to be back by......Love your stuff!

Why would they screw with that Holiday Inn?! That place was a goldmine! Even the tourist knew that you had to spend at least 1 night (Coming or Going) into the Key's partying here. SMH!!!

Best Tiki Bar for the middle keys, and it was BYOB if you did not want Budwizer type of beer. Price was always one dollar.
