the soft distortion mode on the compressor is great for vocals. little soft clipping causes a third harmonic on it and you can use the makeup gain to drive into it and use the output gain to level match
Dang dude.. You make Logic sound like a Neve.. lol Bro, what type of monitors you use? I ask because you make my monitors sound amazing through your tutorials.. I am like, this dude is sick with the teachings.. I am just curious if you don't mind me asking.. Outstanding video dude, especially with only Logic plugins.. I see some of the ones you use and be like dang, I am so surprised none of them jokas sponsor you guys.. MAn, I have learned so much about Logic through Sage Audio University.. These tutorials are like Tony Maserati, Full Sail and Sage.. Ya'll are extremely helpful to from the hobby jokas to the pros.. 3 videos will instantly improve anyones approach to mixing and the nuggets you drop in them videos are nerdy but IMPORTANT.. I can't thank you guys enough man..
Great Video.. But I still wondered why you mixed that vocal on Strereo input instead of Mono input which In turn brings the vocal to the middle? Can u explain that..pls..
If it’s a mono recording, using a stereo track is no less “in the middle”. That is, using a stereo track won’t create side information when only middle information is present. The reason he has a stereo track could be because of the way Logic bounces tracks. Most ways of doing it produce stereo tracks. (You can bounce/render/print mono in Logic but you have to be quite intentional about it) All that said, he could still switch the channel to mono even if the file is stereo, and that would save a tiny bit of CPU.
Bro NO LIE this video helped me create industry standard mixes. You’re changing the game!

I believe the “auto makeup gain” button you selected at 3:34 is actually an auto release button.
