    Love that you made the demo with a "clean" sound. So many new guitar demos are always "dirty"(distorted). Everyone doesn't play with a "dirty" sound. I always look for guitar demos with a "clean" sound. Hard to find. Very nice sound and playing!!!

      He is a jazz and jazz blues guy so clean is king! I agree. Not enough clean demos.

      I would consider this an unclean tone, there is definitely some dirt here

    • @TimLerchGuitar
      @TimLerchGuitar  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      The only dirt here is under my finger nails. I went straight into a Princeton reverb with the volume set at 3.

      ty for saying that...soooo many videos show,...30 seconds clean and then...hits pedal and crunchhhhh.... crip[es i could have a sears guitar sound good with distortion.

    I just purchased this exact guitar yesterday as a little bday gift to myself. Could not be more impressed!!! As gibson owner and lover I've always wanted a 335 but just don't have another $3,500 to put out right now. This guitar is just as beautiful clean as it can rip with some good overdrive as well!! Beautiful playing sir!

    Beautiful guitar and very good tone out of the box. And thanks for doing a clean sound demo. I can tell so much more about a guitar without distortion. The distorted sound is more about one’s own pedals and setting preferences than what the guitar really sounds like. At only $600 it’s a no brainer compared to a $3000 to $4000 Gibson. I got to have one!

    Fantastic playing…. What a guitar! Just picked one up used for £300 here in the UK. Sounds fantastic as it is. No new pickups needed in this one . The stock ones sound great 😊.

  • @pharmerdavid1432

    The new "inspired by Gibson" ES-335 Epi dots seem to be a better quality build than the previous versions (?), more consistent anyways, at least I haven't been reading any negative comments about them. The pickups seem to be improved, maybe GIbosn is using a lower wind now? Epiphone has overwound their pickups in the past in many models, humbuckers and P-90's both. This video shows the Epiphone version of that guitar can sound just as good as a Gibson ES-335 costing $2,000 more, even more for a custom shop version. I don't know how Gibson sells them at those prices. I recently got two ES-335 type guitars that cost less than half as much as that Epiphone, made by EART (humbuckers) and Grote (P-90), both have Indian rosewood fretboards and bone nuts, well cut frets, and good sounding pickups. That new Epiphone ES-335 "inspired by Gibson" model is more traditional looking, and a beautiful instrument, especially with Tim playing. Thanks for the demo!

    Just stopped by because I have a Korean 335 I got about 15 yrs ago?? Very nice. I did put a set of Gibson Les Paul pickups in it when a guy asked me to put di marzios in his Les Paul.
    He said keep the pickups. They do sound warmer and louder but the Epi’s were fine. Great playing man. Very classy and smoothe.

    Did you tune down? Really sounded great in the middle position. And not obnoxious in the bridge. I owned an Epi Dot decades ago. Never bonded with it. Sold it. Was bought by Snooks Eaglin one of Née Orleans iconic and unique guitarists. I could only hang my head in shame listening to the sounds he got out of it. He, like you had magic in his hands. Nice man. Miss him a lot. Shal

    As always, great playing Tim. And I agree that clean tones are more telling of what a guitar can do - or at least that's where I like to start. I've got a couple of these "inspired by Gibson" Epiphones (an SG and a LP) and they benefit greatly from lowering the pickups.
    Thank you for sharing your talent with the world.

  • @barbmelle3136

    From Leo: Epiphone certainly found a top notch player to demo the Guitar. I have a 9 year epiphone es335 and a 6 year old. ES339 pro. The dot was ok, the 339 had so much back bow the strings pulled against the fretboard and a defective selector right out of the box. That was the last money I spent with them. The one you demo'd sounds great with your playing skill. Maybe adding 50% to the price helped their quality control. Thanks for your work.

    Yeah I got one too recently and it’s got the cherry blueberry burst but the quality is really up there and it sounds just like a ES 335 no kidding on it has sustain and I found out it never really goes out of tune I mean that’s amazing I just went out of town recently because it was cold but when I first got it that was a thing and you know I have gotten Gibson ES 335 studio and when I got it I could not keep that thing in tune to save my life.

    Totally agree with the guitar being more "telling" in a clean mode. Driving it has a benefit, but if you want to know what the pickups offer, the tone of the woods, etc., a sweet clean tone, which you obviously have in spades, is the right and proper way to reveal a guitars secrets. The question is, will I play like you if I buy one?! 😉

    I love my epi 335 pro. Ive had it for years! Im also a tele guy. I bring that up to say, for the most part, when I have had squier teles in the past, I alsways long for the fender version. Not once has that been the case with the epi.. infact if i did have the gibby 335, I'd probably enjoy it less and be way more protective and cautions than I am now.

  • @FoxMulder22
    @FoxMulder22 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bought one- she would be delivered tomorrow, in cherry red- It would be nice to test her with my 335 CS from Gibson 😉☝️
    Now she is in. About the sound nearly to the Gibson ES - of course not exactly, but very good to play. Clean it Sounds nicely - the distortion could be more different in the output- it sounds a bit dirty, but playable if you take care with the amp. I‘ll test her on an Line6 240 Head without the cab, only with the build in speakers and compare her with my ES335 CS figured gloss from 2008.
    Update:
    The Intonation on the 12.Fret is not justiable, maybe the frets need a plek-setup- I sent her back and looking forward of new updates, from this time, with Thomann. The new ones will pas arrive at August, then I try another one. Also the neck is very sensitiv against bowing, unless that it is an setneck (with 2/3 pieces of wood).

    I have one that is about 3 years old. It's the 335 dot model. I felt the same way as Tim for about a year. Then the pick up selector switch stopped working. So I think a great mod would be a new wiring harness with better components. Mojo and Gibson make the wiring. Going to have someone do it for me though. Looks like a real pain in the ass to do it. But I love the feel and the pick ups are adequate.

    Hello, wonderful fingers. I'm learning to play (some jazz) with my Epiphone LP Special Yellow TV. Is it possible to get the backing track? Thank you

    I think you could make a broom handle with rubber bands attached to it sound good. Great playing as always.
