What do you guys think ? For me its a bigger sound than its smaller brother and the new upgrades feel fantastic. Im super impressed by this New " Inspired by " line. ⚡️⚡️
The “inspired by” line has had me really paying attention to Epiphone. No longer looking at them as just cheap guitars, but as great guitars for a great price.
I have this guitar and the LE Pro from early last year. Pickups are exactly the same. The only real difference is the headstock and the Pro had push pull pots that are holding up fine and nice block inlays. They have raised the price on these now selling the dot for higher than the Pro was a year ago. Gibson has got to make the money somewhere lol
Looks beautiful, I like the blueberry burst. I’ve heard these are incredibly versatile electric guitar. I’m thinking about getting one. I mostly play acoustic, but I have a strat and a Tele, but looking for something a like 335 that’s sorta a cross between acoustic and electric. For 599, it’s hard to beat it for price.
I just purchased one in Ebony. I did have my friend who is a luthier who I had file and polish the fret nubs and now it plays excellent and I love it. I play with 08's ....that is my string of choice. I've been playing since 1966 and playing the guitar gives me a sense of purpose. 😎🎸
Update!! I just got mine in Figured Raspberry Tea finish, I love it!! what a steal and the binding was perfect and the frets set up well. It plays well. I will upgrade the pickups to hardwired ones to kick it up a notch though. It is a steal no doubt.
I’ve got the Epi Custom Shop ES-335 PRO in ebony. After a pro setup, it’s one of the best and versatile guitars I’ve had in 40 years of playing. I’ve owned some very fine guitars over the years.
ilI bought one of these literally a week ago, same finish and everything. It was hanging on the wall at Guitar Center. The first thing I noticed was that the neck felt great, and the binding on the neck and the frets were perfect, same as your experience. The next thing was that it was in tune, and the intonation was good. I had played one a week before at a different GC, and while the open E chord sounded good after I tuned it up, the open G was a mess. But here, I hit E-G-D and oh my God, the resonance on the body and what I felt in my hand and fingers on the neck. It was incredible. I had played a Gibson ES-335 a couple of week earlier, and didn't even bother plugging it in because it just didn't feel that great in my hands, and it certainly didn't feel like a guitar worth that price. If the Gibson had felt as good as this Epiphone, I would have bought it. As it turned out, I bought the Epiphone, and I knew I was going to buy it even before I plugged it into an amp. Pickups and wiring can be upgraded. But if the guitar feels cheap in your hands, it will always feel cheap. As it turns out, the stock pickups are great. They sound amazing clean, edge of breakup, and higher gain overdrive. That's all I need from them, really. This guitar, for me, is an instant classic, and an instant favorite. And since I saved so much money by not buying the Gibson, I'm looking to buy a Cherry Epi 335, and install a Bigsby vibrato on it, so I can get that vibe, as well. Thanks for your video. If I hadn't already bought the Epiphone, you would have made me give it a serious look.
Sounds great! Like most guitarist I have had the Gibson ES 335 on a pedestal for years now and have not been impressedwith Epiphone’s versions until the 2020s came out. Now The 335 is in my price range! (Plus you can always upgrade the pickups later if needed) Now to watch more of your videos to get my hands to sound as good.
As someone who only played acoustics for my first 13 years of playing I quickly fell in love with the 335 shape and size. I recently played one of these and fell in love - looking to buy one soon. Just wish they offered a non bound neck just out of preference and liking to really roll the edges
I bought my new ES IN cherry just today. I bought it over the phone and saved a lot of money. Almost 300 off. Had some coupons. Anyway. The clerk I bought but from told me it wa buzzing at the 2nd fret and he wants to make adjustments before I come get it. I’ve got a broken foot, so I’m not driving right now. The guitar is nearby and I will pick her up this weekend. Thank you for keeping things real. The few Epiphone that I’ve bought have never come 100% off the shelf. But I really liked this new ES like you. I like the new head stock. I’ve seen tons of review and read many also that praise this instrument. Even my Gibsons need adjustment periodically lol. Thank you very much as I was disappointed when the clerk called me back and told my new Es was buzzing and he would adjust it, but I guess that’s just the nature of the beast. I already own a Gibson es335 like yours that’s in bad need of adjustment lol.
I've just used a green dish scrubber pad and lightly taken the high gloss off the neck and in minutes it's now a nice satin finish that feels warm and smooth..this has become my number one guitar these days...I put flatwounds on it as well and love them.
Not really, Epiphone ES had a unique headstock, closer to sheraton modell, than the ugly ones what you found on the LP and SG models. The new one look like a spade one and kinda ruins the ES vibe. Doe it sounds really good. They still doe make the Dot n Pro modells.
Been thinking about buying a Gibson ES-335 but after watching you play the Epiphone, I think I'll save a good bit of money and get the Epi. Thanks and great picking.
Just picked up the red one. Same issues initially, but after a good set up, she’s a singer! Epiphone really knocked this one out the park. Great review 👍🏾
I planned to buy a Gibson ES-335 but they're out of my budget these days. So to me, the next best thing is the Epiphone "Inspired by" model. And from watching your review, this has to be my choice too. Thanks for the review and clearing up my mind, man.👍
Great demo Thanks for keeping it mostly clean. I can hear the versatility. I am not a modder love focus on playing. I would to hear it with a fender deluxe. Great playing. Very useful demo I am sold.
Interesting way of attenuating, never thought of that solution, I’ll give that a try myself 🤓 I really like how the rolled of tone responds to the volume pot. Nice demo 👍🏼
That sounds really great and I love the neck binding and updated headstock! I have the Inverness Green Epi 335 Traditional Pro and it has really sweet clear tone. The older Epi DOTs used to sound a little muddy but a pickup upgrade helped a lot.
Hey I just bought the Inverness green also yesterday and I'm digging the color..I have many Gibsons but I thought for the look, the price, and the quality why not..
SOLD! I've been thinking for the last few days about letting go of my Epi ES 339 and my Epi Les Paul Classic (inspired by Gibson series) and picking up the Epiphone ES 335 in Raspberry Teaburst and you've convinced me, my friend. Might have something to do with your incredible playing, great soul, great feeling, just beautiful, the way I'd like to be able to play if I live long enough. Thank you for this awesome vid, mate. Cheers.
It’s funny how I have always dismissed semi-hollows. Then, after seeing my guitar teacher playing one (an Ibanez), I have decided to pull the trigger on a Epi ES-335 Inspired by Gibson Blueberry burst. This is now my favourite guitar, I just love it. I love how it sounds, I love how it feels and plays. It’s just perfect for me. Epiphone scored an homerun here, imho.
funny, I have always been the same way. I also just picked up a blueberry burst Epi 335. Epiphone is just amazing nowadays. Up until 2020, I never considered Epiphones. I now own 4 of them. LOL
Nice review and great playing. Yup, Epiphone alway has, and continues to, make outstanding ES/ semi hollow guitars that are a huge value. I have a 1998 Dot and it’s an awesome guitar.
G'day Richie, i've watched this vid a few times now, it's really good. I've got the same guitar and it's become my main rig, i LOVE it. I'm considering going out of phase with the neck pick up, i've watched a few videos and really dig that honky sound out of phase provides. Would you ever consider doing it? If you did, i'd be keen to see a video on you making the change and playing it through. Cheers man, keep on keeping on!
I just bought a Cherry red one from Sweetwater and it is fantastic! You confirmed what I already know. It takes a great bite into that solid tone. The easy adjustment to almost any direction of tone and nice it is to play really makes you feel like it's a more expensive 🎸.
Never expect a good set up out of the box, unless your shop was to do that prior to shipping. I’ve recently been having all my guitars plekd and set up by my dealer. That 335 sounds amazing, im awaiting one.
Fantastic review. Still waiting on mine been on order for a few months now. This review was really informative this guitar will be well worth the wait.
I have that exact guitar and absolutely love it. The only issue I had was the output jack coming unscrewed....I fixed that myself and lowered the bridge and intonated it and this guitar can cover any ground you need to cover ....I switch mainly between it, my Casino and a Martin...highly recommend the Inspired by Gibson Epiphones...they always need a setup but they are bar busters and players instruments. I like the big curves of the 58 style of this one....beautiful guitars.
Sounds sweet already, nice tones; like most new guitars they seem to bed in over time and aquire their own tone. I really like the sound and tones you can achieve from semi-hollow bodied guitars. Your touch brings out the best in these guitars. Yes I would like to hear it played through some of your other amps. I like also that you only tend to put your guitars through the minimum amount of pedals and seem to get most of your tones through the light and shade style of the touch on the strings.
Thank you Gary , I appreciate those words 😊. Yeah I think as my playing is maturing [ I may not be though 🤪] im picking these semis up more and more , I played my Strat earlier and was quickly reminded of how easy they are to play but soon after got my epiphone back out. I like the softer and thicker tone of a good hum bucker recently and like you say they are so versatile, that trick in the middle position is a lot of fun and the bridge has bite like a single coil with extra growl. This is a great guitar that I don't feel the need to do anything to 😊⚡️⚡️
So am I floored! Nice playing and great sound! I have a 70’s 335 with all its issues and this is the best homage guitar I’ve heard and makes me think where was this guitar when I was saving my bucks to buy my guitar! Seriously thinking about selling it to buy that one now!😉
nice , i have mine epi ES 335 since a few day's , and i have already sold my way to expensive gibson ES 335 and i do not miss since the epi sounds killer too .
Very informative... Unboxing turned to demoing. Lovely to see someone skilled guitar player demonstrate affordable guitar (s) keep up the hard work mate. Also I love the blues style what you play. Do you teach music please. Cheers Roland
Well, here is my comment. I always disliked Epiphone, like everything about them. I'm not talking about the made in USA ones. Let's get that out of the way. I have been waiting for a year to see this ES-335 from Epiphone, and I love everything about it; for me, it's perfect. I will be getting mine in 3 weeks from now; I just ordered it today. I'm not inspiring to get a Gibson es 335; a bit too pricy for me. This will go well with my made in the USA Gibson Les Paul jr sunburst with 1 P90 bridge pick-up. Your review sold me on it. Great review, great video, thank you. Finally, Epiphone inspired me to buy their es 335 hollow body. Thanks for the review. Well done, Epiphone. But for now, I wait. I didn't want the floor model, I told him. I don't mind waiting for her, I said to myself. :)
I traded my pro ii with Duncan 59’s to my best bud and figured I’d just jump to a a Gibson 335. Played one of these at center and said fuck it. Gonna save $2500 and get one of these.
I love that they changed that ugly pickguard. I just bought a Epi Dot and I am shopping for a 335 pickguard. Here in Brazil is impossible to find. Bought one from China (yet to come) to see if it fits. I had many Epi Dots, including a PRO (which had the "nice" 335 pickguard). I think they are great for the money. Be safe everybody!
Epiphones get a bad rap as Second hand or lesser Gibsons which couldn't be further from the truth. Epiphone makes fantastic instruments. I have a Toni Iommi signature that plays better than some Gibson SG standards I have picked up. It also depends on who sets it up. A good setup can make a world of difference.
I have a cherry red 2016, and had to correct backbow like you did.l I was upset about a minute before I thought to turn the truss rod. Lol Killer Guitar! Running into 68 Super Reverb, 66 Pro Reverb and Vibroverb clone w/ JBL
I’ve got the Inspired by Gibson 50s standard LP. Great out of the box, but I am upgrading the pickups with a set from a small builder in Ohio. But there is nothing at all wrong with the stock Probuckers. In fact, they’ll likely go in my Ibanez semi hollow, unless I sell or trade it.
I've an older Dot 335 Epi and it sounds and plays great, no complaints, I'm a "ind the right guitar for the sound I'm looking for " type of guy and the Dot works for what I ask it to do.
Great video. I got a used 2014 Epiphone Es-335 Pro and actually loved the way the Alnico Classic Pro sounded in the bridge (alnico V magnet). It was Thinking I should, I put new PAF style alnico ii pickups in the guitar and vintage tapered 550kpots. I hated the taper and the brightness and the scooped sound of the PAF. The stock alpha pots that come in these epiphone Pro's say 500k but they actually measure between 400-450. So when used on the bridge tone pot, they take away some brightness and sound really good! unfortunately they make the neck humbucker sound too dark! So i'm putting the stock bridge humbucker (alnico classic pro) and stock pot (Alpha 500k) in the bridge, and getting a new neck pickup and CTS 500k audio taper pots
Great video mate, I love mine, got the Raspberry Tea burst. Couldn't be happier, only thing I have changed so far is the pick up height. its as good if not better than the Epiphone Super Dot that I stupidly sold to a mate. What I'd like to see is some more overdrive and fuzz pedals with it, there are not many videos with 335's and pedals.
I've always preferred the cherry finish but have not been impressed with the lack of wood grain showing through the stain. I am, however, a huge fan now of the burst finish. Looks great and sounds great too. Cheers from Canada.
Great review and playing mate 🙌🏼 that guitar is very cool for the money, and i reckon just changing puos and fit a faber and you must get real close to the real deal
Great Video! I have gotten 2 Epiphones inspired by Gibson from the 2020 line myself. I like you have hated the Epiphone headstocks before as well. Not anymore, it's pretty close to the Gibson look now for a quarter of the price lol. The quality for what the price is good. Again, they are affordable now right? I'm very happy with my Epiphone Les Paul modern figured and the Epiphone 61' Les Paul SG. I kept the Modern with the stock pickups no change, love it. I however changed the pickups on my SG. The SG was a little too bright for my taste in stock. That's the whole thing about these guitars, if you need to change the pickups, your still way ahead in savings over its Gibson big brother. With the $300 pickups, it made the guitar sound better than most Gibson's I've owned with its stock pickups and surprisingly a lot better. My next in line will be the Epiphone 335 hopefully Red like some of my favorite guitar players owned. I won't say that the Epihones are better than a Gibson, but you can make them better by changing the pickups. Thanks for your honest opinion on the 335 and I know that the vintage Fender Amp you own is very very clean, great playing too.
Excellent video and review. I agree entirely with your thoughts. It really is a fantastic guitar. The pick ups are essentially indistinguishable from Gibson classic 57s
Dude, glad I stumbled along this video. Really enjoyed it and was chuffed when you started playing the Marcus King lick too! Have subscribed and look forward to more of your videos ✌️
I have read the neck of the 339 is a bit fatter than the one of the 335 , how true is that? ( both inspired by Gibson series) . Great channel, very useful , keep the good job goin on! Bern.
How do you feel about the construction of this model? I’m debating between this and the Joe Bonamassa model, but that one doesn’t have the stop tail. I feel like the construction would be very similar and not too far off the vintage original design. You have much experience with epiphone les Pauls? I feel like the Pauls wouldn’t live up to the name as the 335s as I feel the construction is much closer with the latter
@@FretJunkies Thanks, I'm excited to see it arrive , I've never played a 335 before but I think it will instantly become my #1 . I hope it sounds at least half as good as yours sir 👍🏻🎸
Just received the Blueberry Burst version today and it's awesome. I can't put it down. I must be lucky because setup is perfect and paint is flawless right out of the box 👍🏻
That tone is amazing! Goes to show you don’t have to spend crazy money, especially if you’re a good player like you are, it can sound great. What speakers are in that vibroverb by the way? Is that the stock speaker? Sounds good man 👍
I have several high end guitars in my collection, (Zemaitis (2), Ormsby, (2), Gretsches, (2), PRS and on). When it comes to Gibson style guitars I always prefer to buy Epiphones in the $5-800 range. You get more features, they are well built, and don't cost an arm and a leg like Gibson. More bang for your buck. They don't have the same resale value, but I buy guitars to play, not sell. That's what music stores are for.
What do you guys think ? For me its a bigger sound than its smaller brother and the new upgrades feel fantastic. Im super impressed by this New " Inspired by " line. ⚡️⚡️

The pick ups certainly sounds better than previous versions in the Epiphone guitar range. Nice video

sweet axe!! epiphone have knocked it out of the park with this series.
Man! I've been playing guitar nearly 30 years. That's some sweet tone!!!
Thank you 😊
I’ve got the Epi Custom Shop ES-335 PRO in ebony. After a pro setup, it’s one of the best and versatile guitars I’ve had in 40 years of playing. I’ve owned some very fine guitars over the years.
The tip on rolling back the neck in the middle position for that “quack” is a game changer for me! Thanks

Great demo! Your playing really brings out the best in this guitar.
I love this guitar! I’m also loving the Markus King The Well riff there. His music is one of the reasons I picked up an es335.
Thinking about getting one of these bad boys for a jazz fusion kind of thing. Love how versatile these pups are.
I've just used a green dish scrubber pad and lightly taken the high gloss off the neck and in minutes it's now a nice satin finish that feels warm and smooth..this has become my number one guitar these days...I put flatwounds on it as well and love them.
2:15 - Neck looks lovely
3:10 - the neck had quite a bit of back bow in it
👍
🤣
hahaha yeah I need to work on my first impressions !!
Impressed! Sounds amazing and the headstock is much better.

I’ve always enjoyed the unique headstock on my 1998 Epiphone Dot. It’s an original Epiphone shape. But the new shape is cool too!
Nice playing ! I really like the Marcus King touch.
Astounded at how good it is. The CTS pots make a huge difference and the pickups sounded as good as any equivalent Gibson I've played
What fine funky playing my friend. I have the 339 with Wilkinson pups, thinking about the 335. Can't beat the value of Epiphones.
Great video! I just bought one myself, and love it to death. Such a fun guitar to play. Versatile as can be.
Been thinking about buying a Gibson ES-335 but after watching you play the Epiphone, I think I'll save a good bit of money and get the Epi. Thanks and great picking.
Thanks Ritchie, one of the best reviews of this I've seen. Great playing. Keep em coming. Best Tim
Thank you Tim , I appreciate that ⚡️⚡️
Just picked up the red one. Same issues initially, but after a good set up, she’s a singer! Epiphone really knocked this one out the park. Great review 👍🏾
Great playing! Nice guitar. I've recently got one in blueberry burst - love it!
Great demo I’m probably going to get one because of this video great licks too man , good job

I've been thinking about buying this guitar. I think you just sold me on it. Really sounds great!
The big clipped head stock on the Sheraton is perfect
Excellent demo! Thanks for posting. Also, love ur style. 😎
I really like the tones that you have dialled in. More particularly I love those riffs and your playing.
Interesting way of attenuating, never thought of that solution, I’ll give that a try myself 🤓
I really like how the rolled of tone responds to the volume pot. Nice demo 👍🏼
Been waiting for mine for months! Apparently Epiphone are having supply problems.. Guess I’ll just have to wait for the in depth review.
I don’t think the neck is muddy at all. I just bought one tonight, same color! Cheers! Great playing
I just bought one. I’ll be waiting for your longer video on this. You do a great job on the guitar.
Agreed about the older Epi 335s..too muddy
SOLD! I've been thinking for the last few days about letting go of my Epi ES 339 and my Epi Les Paul Classic (inspired by Gibson series) and picking up the Epiphone ES 335 in Raspberry Teaburst and you've convinced me, my friend. Did you get it? May I ask what style of fret inlays it has? Trying to figure out which one is currently available to me

Great review, great guitar, I just got one in Raspberry Tea Burst, Love it!
Those epiphones 335 are really good copy of a gibson so no wonder they are great instruments. Sound is really close to the original. Great workhorse.
nice playing. nice turnaround there too. :))

Really nice playing brother ad the tone is fucking outstanding! ❤️👍😎
You make it sound like a Million bucks - Thanks for breaking it Down-Time to finally check mine out
Fantastic review. Still waiting on mine been on order for a few months now. This review was really informative this guitar will be well worth the wait.
Bought this exact model! I do not regret it at all. Needs a tiny bit of fret redressing/filing, but the tone is just ... stunning.
Tone is fantastic and 335 authentic for sure.
Thanks for playing it without a pick , that’s where the real tone is , cheers
Great guitars. Excellent demo. thanks 👍🏻

Thank you Roland , I appreciate that !
I do teach yes ~ if you’d like more info you can mail me at fretjunkiestv@gmail.com 😊
This is by far the best review of this guitar on youtube
Proper skill+proper amp
It’s so nice, and the headstock looks great! Love the vintage tuners as well, those pickups sound great, very versatile too!
I have the 339 with the coil split. So I prefer the older 339. I already have a 335 Gibson. I LOOOOVE the epi
Sounds great! Reckon could sound better with heavier gauge on low and high, but for out the box tone... sounding awesome mate! 🤟🏼🤛🏼
really nice playing and sound
thank you for your video.
Amazing tone and playing. Cheers.
Great video I’m considering buying one this week! Can I ask, when it comes to changing the pickups, what would you recommend?
I hear great things about wizz pickups or Throbaks ! 😊
Great playing, great guitar. Nice job and thank you for the great review.
Love your style. Holds your attention.
You are a very fine guitar player, sir. And getting great tones from the new 335. I have a cherry red 339 from the same series.
Thank you 😊
Great video.
Good choice!
I've always preferred the cherry finish but have not been impressed with the lack of wood grain showing through the stain. I am, however, a huge fan now of the burst finish. Looks great and sounds great too.
Cheers from Canada.
thanks for a great vid,,,,so your your turn up the amp and controlling the volume with the pedal?
That is correct 😊
Great review and playing mate 🙌🏼 that guitar is very cool for the money, and i reckon just changing puos and fit a faber and you must get real close to the real deal
I’d love to hear some Clapton tones through that thing!
Great Video! I have gotten 2 Epiphones inspired by Gibson from the 2020 line myself. I like you have hated the Epiphone headstocks before as well. Not anymore, it's pretty close to the Gibson look
now for a quarter of the price lol. The quality for what the price is good. Again, they are affordable now right? I'm very happy with my Epiphone Les Paul modern figured and the Epiphone 61' Les
Paul SG.
Hi Liam , Marcus king !!! What a PLAYER.
Thank you buddy ~ I appreciate that 😊
What’s the name of the Marcus King song?
@@snowryder1080 'The Well'
I have read the neck of the 339 is a bit fatter than the one of the 335 , how true is that? ( both inspired by Gibson series) . Great channel, very useful , keep the good job goin on! Bern.
How do you feel about the construction of this model? I’m debating between this and the Joe Bonamassa model, but that one doesn’t have the stop tail. I feel like the construction would be very similar and not too far off the vintage original design.
You have much experience with epiphone les Pauls? I feel like the Pauls wouldn’t live up to the name as the 335s as I feel the construction is much closer with the latter
The particular one that I had been using in this video was top tier in every way 👍🏽
great review, great playing and good info.
Great review, thank you.
I think I need one of these.👍😊
an absolute win for the price
Great review and playing. I just bought this guitar and I'm here for a listen. I should have mine by tomorrow . Very nice 👍🏻
Thank you - Your gonna love it .
I'm gonna be honest here.....I'm stealing most of those licks. Nice vid.
I like the chords you play from 5:04 to 5:14
That tone is amazing! Goes to show you don’t have to spend crazy money, especially if you’re a good player like you are, it can sound great. What speakers are in that vibroverb by the way? Is that the stock speaker? Sounds good man 👍
I am looking at how it plays more than the style. but the headstock was an issue?
I have several high end guitars in my collection, (Zemaitis (2), Ormsby, (2), Gretsches, (2), PRS and on). When it comes to Gibson style guitars I always prefer to buy Epiphones in the $5-800 range. You get more features, they are well built, and don't cost an arm and a leg like Gibson. More bang for your buck. They don't have the same resale value, but I buy guitars to play, not sell. That's what music stores are for.
Epiphone vs VIntage VSA500 - any thoughts? I must say you have THE best accent of any guitar YTer, it makes me want a pint a dairk. ;-)
Hahahah !!
I’ve not played the vintage style of this model , I do however rate there Les Paul style guitar ⚡️⚡️
Nice playing mate !!!
