I'm sorry but you absolutely do not point your antenna at the drone, the weakest signal is at the very top, so your antenna should be upright and facing the drone
Yeah, I had figured that part out lol. I just got a pair of them Ultimaxx range extenders (use them facing the drone), and they actually do work really well. Farthest I've gone (my set limit in the Go app) is 500M. Without them, I'd start to get a little less signal. But with the reflectors on, it still holds full bars at 500m.
Thnks for the video! Good info. I just purchased a Phantom 3 4k. And I'm trying to learn as much as I can about it. I and very disappointed that there is soo many different types of Phantom 3s. Before I bought it, I was excited to see that they can fly aprox 3.5 miles. Come to find out, that's only the professional series. Unfortunately, the 4k is not. Oh well, too late now. But it's still fun to fly. And I'm too afraid to go very far anyway (i keep within view of the aircraft) lol. But one day, I would like to go farther away. But it seems the most I'll get is about 1/4 mile with the 4k. Maybe I can find a range extender to help.
Hi mate you said any input welcome well I flew my p3 1100 meter's and only one weak signal flashing light...far out man I got a dish to try next time the dish Say's 300 meter's more range ...how far do you want to fly...lol
LOL man that's huge! yeah exactly distance is not a factor really if you are simply trying to take photos/videos of nearby area unless of course you are doing a search and rescue activities and flying all over the place
Bro you apply 27dbm on the stock antenna your range will be between 1500-2000m and if you swap out your stock antenna with itelite or 4hawks with the 27dbm you will be hitting nearly 4000m.
I just want to get the most out of my Phantom. Sometimes it seems like it is flying in Beginners mode but it's not. Ready to send it in but if you can give me hints on how to get the most, I would appreciate it
Really depends on what you are after and what are your objectives, are you interested in drone photography, drone videos, what's the drone laws / regulations in your area as they may impose some limitations on how far and how high you can fly
In case you haven’t already found out, you can unlock your signal to 24 - 27 dB using Magic Power app for Windows. Loads of info about it online. I too got 500m with stock but have yet to test the range after unlocking because the weather has been bad here in UK. Good luck.
Hello again. I bought a parabolic range extender for my Phantom 3 Standard and increased my range 289 ft. Now flying at 1973 ft.Much better. But no GPS. I have 10 Satellites when taking off but my phone n my pocket is not receiving any GPS signals. Only 4G. Thanks.
Good to hear it improved, from my experience GPS is dependent on where you are located and sometimes it can take a while to get to 11 or 12, however even if you got 10 satellites you should still be able to fly because the phantom 3 standard can do ATTI mode which is kinda like manual mode flying without the GPS.
Hi I have never lost any signal from my controller always full strength. My wifi starts to loose a line at about 500m I'm in the middle of now where and have a massive property 2 miles long and 2 miles wide private to fly in. But at times I still get electromagnetic interference from hot rocks in the ground here. My Phantom 3 standard is stock as well. From one end of my property my Phantom wont make 2 miles distance with out loosing wifi
+Kim cool thanks, do you have a good GPS number? Also regarding WiFi, I find that if you’re flying in nearby trees or poles it can disrupt the signal. Can you post a video of your flight ?
Hi Dennis. I get average 12 sats. I fly around all sorts of things. Some of my flights I'm beaming in direct line through a transformer and high power wires. I also fly around hot rocks and also forests. I have a bunch of videos of me flying on my channel. I have 2 mile by 2 mile private land to fly. A couple of my searching for goose videos was flying real close to 35000 volt power lines. I get 500m before I start loosing a line on my wifi but my controller and drone connection is always full. I have even had no lines on my wifi and the controller and quad was full bars. I bought one of those cheap range boosters its the foil thing you attach to the antenna and that gave me more wifi not much but was more stable. check out some of my video's may enjoy them.
man you have a huge property! maybe its because you're flying near powerlines etc.. that may cause the losing of the signal... have you ever tried flying out in the ocean or a beach?
My yard or property is so big 2 miles long 2 miles wide. My Phantom 3 wont make it to each end without loosing wifi. Its just to big here for a standard. But I can get a little over a mile before I start loosing bars on my wifi but the controller and drone is full bars.. I live pretty far from an ocean or a beach. In the spring I'm going to try a test and push her till all contact is lost and she RTH I would say 2 miles on a standard.
You have a 4k model? That's cool, what is a passive signal booster? How does it hook up? what brand is it, and where do you get one? Sorry do many questions lol. Thanks!
No mods except a windsurfer 1050 meters out at 120m amoung wifi in homes then in a remote field in surrey overlooing a busy main road i flew 2348m ant up holding remote in middle makes a hug diff to wifi signal in my case in normal use for everyone theres 8 fingers coverin both ant`s when flyin. So to balance my note 8 i got a fishing weight non lead comp at the back of the remote under the plug to even out the huge point towards the ground done by fone
I've sent you a link when I reached 3200m with my itelite dbs I now have the 4hawks antenna and reached 3700m could of gone further I'm going to do another video soon with the 4hawks but weather here is not too good at the min.

@@droneguy001 the answer is because he can 😁
I can only go 1681 ft. 8-9 bars on GPS. Any suggestions on how to go further?
That's actually quite good, maybe try to get a wifi extender amzn.to/2EOmxvu and see if it improves, curious why do you need to fly so far?
@@BossD3nnis you fly further in your videos. My drone should do as well. I can fly in some trees and do better than a field without trees. 500 ft.

@@BossD3nnis drone videos and photography but if the drone only goes a short distance, I can't get the shot. Like around the coast.
Why don't you unlock it to 27dbm fcc
how can i do that?
Dennis Chua hey why don’t you unlock it so it can go 5 miles . Don’t ask me how though 😆

@@BossD3nnis So the satellite bars are considered the GPS?
And can you fly further in ATTI mode?
The number is the GPS satellites , the bars is the signal reception from your remote to the drone
@@BossD3nnis Got it. See, you have great info for everyone who wants to fly.

You live in the netherlands?
Nope
WA ??
I have reached 4,5km distance with passive signal booster
Awesome! Thanks for sharing this!

Nice no mods and still getting good range! Thanks for sharing!
I have phantom 3 standard 4hawks Sr antenna and I've unlocked my drone to its factory 27dbm power I hit around 3700m lag free :)
nice nice! yeah i haven't done any mods just yet! 3700m that's amazing any footage you have?

marvon howsin how can I do that too?
I hit 1233m with phantom 3 standard
Damn!
Takes 2 minutes to put to 27dbm and its like flying a new drone
ok let me have a look
How do you do 27dbm on the drone?
500 m with phantom 3 standard
nice! on another note I've managed to hit 1000m and will be uploading a video of it soon!
I've achieved 1800 mtrs in distance with the magic power 5 firmware upgrade (free) and a cheap parabolic dish.
Max height is limited to 500mtrs
Awesome thanks for sharing!
Trouble is....in most countries the maximum allowed height is 120m (400ft) above ground level.
1000 ft.+-
