This is one of the most accurate songs to how most Americans feel about our country. People stereotype us as hyper-patriotic but most younger generations are almost horrified by our own history and feel nothing towards it but melancholy.
god this song hits so different. its literally describing so much of my life about growing up christian and in public school and now i refuse to stand for the pledge and i believe in every god i just hate the christian one. i almost killed myself in sixth grade because i felt so abandoned by god, i was almost the same as his friend. its so wild hearing my life from a song ive just discovered
i came close to killing myself too. i connect to the song as well. i was raised ignorant and happy, i thought America was the greatest nation in the world, that's what everyone around me told me. i was a christian for 16 years of my life. but then i was diagnosed with autism, adhd, ocd and realized i was trans. being neurodivergent is fucking hard in a world that says you're lazy and that you aren't trying hard enough. and being trans is also pretty bad, concerning all the bills that are being passed, i'm afraid to go outside or go to school because there are people at my school who say horrible shit, and 1 out of 12 trans people are killed, so i'm always wondering if i'm going to be that 1. i was also sexually assaulted and when i told my dad what happened he laughed and said "he probably couldn't help himself" i realized in a short matter of time that America, the place i thought was so great is actually a piece of shit. i also hate the anthem, it reminds me of a cult or something
Drumming Bird realy summed up my feelings about growing up in America enjoy!

"Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out."
As someone who feels so disconnected from religion sometimes. But has faith in something. It hurts.
Please never delete this ❤️
