I wasn't expecting to enjoy this channel as much as I have, your playthroughs are fun cause I can watch someone who actually knows how to do the cool stuff in ONI
5:50 The Oxygen Masks and mask checkpoint don't use power and are 2 tiles high; they would actually fit right there where the o2 from the Electrolyzers pass by. Yes dupes exhale in the masks, but they exhale co2 so it doesn't matter, and they won't get eye irritation down their either. They also don't get suit debuffs with just a mask. There aren't _many_ situations for the masks, but this feels like a good one lol.
@@EchoRidgeGaming Fair point; as well, once you mentioned the Natural Gas coming out of the refinery, masks would dump co2 in that room and cause problems, so yet again they aren't useful. xD Though on the note of temperature, watch that those plastic ladders don't melt. xD
Loving this run, Echo! The thing about heat spread is heat does not transfer well in the down direction, which is why the cool floor was so cold. Also liquids transfer temps out of abysallite whereas gas doesn’t seem to.
It's really funny watching the consequences of not expanding your water storage come to pass - I remember you for 3 episodes talking about plans to expand it, then you built infrastructure right underneath it and started dumping water.
The slickster ranch would actually be a good place to use oxygen masks. Just have the transit tube drop them off behind an oxygen mask checkpoint and you're good to go.
Great series Echo! Can't wait for next one. You inspired me and I did all achievement challenge just yesterday. But it wasn't on hardest settings. At 3:40 those radbolt... I think they move like a spiral.
Good morning Echo! I love too see every space getting used up on the home asteroid, and enjoyed your petroleum build. Sorry these supple hands are ment for piloting and not digging . Thanks for another video and I hope you have a good fourth!
You mentioned diamond tiles being a solution to your meteoric woes, but you can see a dupe repairing them at 9:10 . Was there something else that caused that damage or was that meteors damaging window tiles?
Yet another episode, lightly glazed with chaos. Love it. Who says you have to think before sending dupes on space missions, anyway. Nothing wrong with the LEEEEROY JENKINS approach. I am here for it. :p Thanks for the fun content!
I had a colony completely fail because the abyssalite was transferring cold into the air of my base without me realizing it because I had thought the abyssalite had no thermal conductivity. I saw the cold leaking out and was SO confused, so I didn't do anything about it at first because I didn't think it was the abyssalite. When I got a little more desperate to save my poor dupes I finally put down some insulation tiles there and it stopped the cold-leak, but it was sadly too late :( I'm sure that the abyssalite issue wasn't the only thing that brought down my base (Because I'm not that good at the game), but I wish it was more obvious that abyssalite did in fact have thermal conductivity.
Being as you're doing super low volume petroleum, I figured you'd just tap into the lava directly and skip the counterflow petroleum boiler. The oil refinery just sucks so much LOL :)
So what I've found is that abyssalite will transfer to fluids very easily, and gas not at all. I don't have proof, but my guess would be that as soon as the slicksters pooped pul oil it hit the abyssalite and transferred temp.
Still it shouldn't exchange heat with abbysalite. Edit: Just learned about "flaking" This game is overcomplicated or simply full of bugs. Too damn bad I like it so much 😅
Hey Echo! Love this playthrough so far. For the next playthrough, I'd love to see you play the Baator mod! It's got some interesting new twists on the base asteroids.
RE The cot being unavailable in the rocket: You can, I think, set it as 'uncontrolled' which should make it available to sleep in again (instead of having to deconstruct). That worked for me. However, it will remain available when the rocket is grounded which is a pain :/
create a cubby for oil with mesh tiles on top and pump in the middle and move the slicksters up a few tiles so they wont be hit by rocks chill on the bottom
Echo, you should be spinning for and collecting the Exuberant mutation for all your food producing plants. Speeds up growth speed and gives extra Rot Pile to feed to Pokeshells plus requires Darkness, making Bristle Blossoms even less cost. Does require slightly more fertilizer ingredient and must be cooked or frozen to kill the Food Poisoning, but you’re gonna do that anyways.
You dont realy need an atmo sensor for the oul refinery since every time its producing heat its also dumping that into the new natural gas but putting the sensor in saves power it doesnt matter much
Also are you planning on using an auto-sweeper in the slickster ranch? If you move everything over, put a ladder and move the door up 1 or 2 you might be able to have an auto-sweeper put an egg into that incubator without the need for some huge system. Might save a bunch on dupe labor! (If I remember correctly, auto-sweepers work through pnuematic doors, right?)
Question, could atmospheric sensors detect heat? If so, why not rig it up so that the heater is turned on when it starts to get too cold close to ground level, to keep the slicksters alive! Haven't played ONI in a while, but I do wonder if this is possible. Or if the heater can get automation wires.
I hate zombiespores. More for the name than their effect. I wasnt playing when they got added so when i picked the game up again and saw them i freaked out assuming that was going to literally ZOMBIFY my dupes if they got infected. Nah, its just a -10 to attributes. Which is painful, but not lethal.
Your solution is not fool proof. You have nuclear use 10 heat deletion system for all your temperature control. Also start petro boiler already. Water to oxygen should be priority as they can work without any power, 1 pump is enough. Also I do not like you boil normal water, please boil salt and polute water.
I wasn't expecting to enjoy this channel as much as I have, your playthroughs are fun cause I can watch someone who actually knows how to do the cool stuff in ONI
That and echo is a very humble and not all knowing TH-camr unlike some other people
Which makes me enjoy his content more :D
echo: it may not be the best plan but it's a plan
the dupes: i'm in danger

Great points. Thinking that area might get to scalding temps eventually though. Not sure yet.

Found a bit of abysalite with a temp of 530. Just dropped crude onto it.

14:18 I just couldn't resist pointing out you missed a tube! I'm proud of my dupe
6:00 - If you plan to ranch molten slicksters, the plastic tubes will melt unless you control the temperature in a very specific way.
The slickster ranch would actually be a good place to use oxygen masks. Just have the transit tube drop them off behind an oxygen mask checkpoint and you're good to go.

@@EchoRidgeGaming This is the way.

Great catch. Didn't notice it!
"It's easier to train a rancher to do piloting than it is to train a pilot to ranch." Basically the plot of Armageddon (1998).

Lock the door to forbid moving through it at all (when the movement permissions don't work, e.g. from entering from top or bottom)
Thank you for the content. I think, your content is awesome!!
Thank you.

A good day for an episode!
I’m always in the mood for spaghetti. Comes with my heritage.
Great video as always, Echo.
Thank you.
If you're running out of igneous rock there's about 1million kg in liquid form on either of your starting astroids. ;)
I knidna wanted this to be longer.
But I also hope that you had fun in your outting, whatever it was for 😊
another great episode ! tnx m8
Thank you!
22:50 - "Anything but being ranched by Echo!" - slicksters, probably.
lol, ouch. ha.
Scar, now while you are fully awake,
"you blew up Mumbos base"
Did you comment on the wrong video? This isn't Hermitcraft.
4:09 I believe locking the door resolves this issue (and I agree, it's pretty annoying).
Great point. Should have tried locking it!
The uncontrolled bug can be fixed by clicking the "uncontrolled/uncontrolled" button on the bed instead of rebuilding it.
Came here to say the same thing :)
Put insulated tiles on the floor of your slickster ranch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah, I love seeing 100% organic oil production.
Wonderful.
So what I've found is that abyssalite will transfer to fluids very easily, and gas not at all. I don't have proof, but my guess would be that as soon as the slicksters pooped pul oil it hit the abyssalite and transferred temp.
Enjoy you trip! Have fun!
Why not replace those cold abyssalite tiles with insulated tiles? RSSA.
great series
About the unexpected heat transfer: The slickster did put oil instead of CO2 down there as a transfer medium!
Still it shouldn't exchange heat with abbysalite.
Edit: Just learned about "flaking"

amazing echo

Petroleum overflows at 740kg per tile. You might want to lower that hydro sensor a bit, or it'll pump in forever.
Great catch.

Echo repeating Armageddon lines
Hey Echo using lumber burners is a much more efficient way of creating co2 for your slicksters
9:14 someone was repairing diamond window tile.
Wow, amazing catch!
Oh no, not chaos! :D
Echo, at 9:15, it looks like a dupe is repairing the window. It may not be indestructible.
Great catch. Didn't see it until a couple people pointed it out. Thank you.
Up for 30 hrs now...

*oh gee I wonder how that could have happened?? It's not like anyone was freely venting water into space*
Touche' ha.
Anyone else hear a voice resemblance to Cookie Masterson from You Don't Know Jack? Just me?
Can u link a video where u explain how to cool the base whit liquids or gases?

Guess the abyssalite bug works both ways (hot and cold).
