It is good at first to understand the steps but definitely research every part In depth because one mess up and the entire design process is messed up for good with no redos. Also, $60 to do all this is really misleading as hell lol. I can’t believe the tutorial tries to act like that’s all you need and you’re set. It’s enough for one tee shirt i guess
@@Gilbertify1 quit lying FOOL this is all you need, if not tell me what else i need. kidding but no seriously ima rookie and i was hoping this was all i needed aside from a heat press, your telling me i got to buy those 15,000 machines for screen printing or can i get away with using cheap stuff.
I agree. The majority of all screen printing videos are super complicated and overwhelming to follow and understand. This was the simplest easy to understand screen printing video.
When I was working at a screen printing shop back in the day, it was largely the same process, just geared toward bigger orders. So, the materials, and equipment were slightly different/more robust. We use sheet emulsion on the screens. We had an industrial arc lamp, and vacuum table to burn the screens. The basement was set up to prep screens for burning, and for reclaiming screens if we we're expecting more shirt orders from that job. We had single, two color, and four color stations, and later added an automatic press that was capable of 8 colors. Of course, there was a wall with all of the various inks we used. A Pantone guide was essential for mixing colors to client specifications. Amazing to think that practically anyone can do this, really.
I came here in hopes of finding a video that was simple + easy and the amount of detail you put into a 5 minute was more than I could ask for! Thank you!!!!!
These blueprint episodes are so awesome for people who are taking their first steps into design. Always love seeing these, your brand is a big inspiration for me. Looking forward to more as always 🙂❤️
I literally just started looking at screen printing today for designs we've had for a couple years. And I am so glad this was the first video I watched on how to stencil for sil screening. I was super overwhelmed in the 10 minutes before I found this. Thank you!
I've been wanting to learn how to screen print for the longest so I can start to learn how to make cloths and you don't know how much this video helped me thanks everyone at chinatown market 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Than you. You gave me so much hope. Because I am home right now rehabilitating hopefully for my future I'm no longer able to do the work I previously done but I am ready to get started but I didn't know how to get started because I didn't have the money right now for any equipment or machines. I am ready to get started with my ideas. Thank you. Although ever so humble very much appreciated.
In high school we had an easy way using screen material, rubber cement, and the three colors red, yellow and blue. I thought silkscreening was for kids but many years after high school the people in the suite next to me were doing really super professional silk screens.
how can this video so short but very informative in a fun way. seriously I watched longer video and learned nothing with their so complicated explanation. I know I'm late for this due to so many options to print nowadays. but i think I can still give a shot to this old method of printing. Thanks
Thanks for this video. Bringing me back down to earth. I was marveled at these laser machines having a screen printing attachment. It's still cool, but that's... pricey. I could definitely jump into screen printing doing this first!
Thanks for explaining the process so clearly. The process to "burn" the screen is surprisingly similar to how that green color (called solder mask) is added on printed circuit boards.
great for first timers, but there was one thing that he could have done to ensure it to always be a better print.... when applying the emulsion it needed to be applied none ink side and then ink side and not scoop off access on the non ink side because that is where it needed to be thickest. Just an FYI.
Hi Tek Thank you so much for your video. I did my first screen this past weekend. I failed, I did my emulsion in the light. You helped me to try again next week. To do my emulsion in the dark. 👍👍
I’m actually starting like a little clothing brand (got inspiration from you and some other brands) with screen printing and this was like perfect timing thanks ChinaTown Market!
It's not hard to do. In fact its simple. You forgot to tell people to take the glass cover out of the light . You need a 600 watt light about 12 inches above and use for about 6 minutes only. You should see the things we make .you would not believe it .
it's so crazy how people misunderstand the whole light situation. first of all, it's different per emulsion. second, the light wattage isn't going to be super strict. none of it is. it's all going to be case sensitive. what's crazier is how people give up after like two tries. you can use all kinds of lights some longer than others guys but as some people find like crispychicken here certain lights may work better than others
I worked at the largest screen printing manufacturer in Ohio for a few years and our darkroom had dark red lights. Not sure if it was a certain kind or just any red would do, but it is def a lot better than pure black.
Thanks for this tutorial! Really helpful. Just wondering my led lamp is 100W , how long should I expose the light? Some say 5 sec, 10 sec , up to 5 to 10 min... I’m really confused. Thanks for any help!
Thank you this helps a lot!!! I’m just wondering how would I apply something that I made on illustrator to the actual screen do I have to get it printed somewhere? Thank you!
This is a wonderful video! Can you link where you got all your products? Ive read there are different model numbers of screens and I want to make sure I use the same one. I want to get everything you had since it came out so great!
And just think….l was going to pay thousands of dollars to learn how to screen print at collage for an art major 😂 learned it for free here! Thank you!
You need to make sure you're flooding properly, one clean flood. And then when it comes to printing, just keep one long sausage of ink/paint at the top then apply lots of pressure and print the design in one solid wipe down the screen. Notice the top right of your final print is blotchy and faint. It's because you let too much ink through the screen before you printed.
I know this was two years ago hopefully you’re still here😂you sound like you know about this stuff, how do I print a design onto the screen so I can make that? If I make sense lol, like he said you can print onto the see through paper? Will this work in any printer? I really want to start making T-shirts with my gf but I’ve been pretty confused
This is not only a gift to fans and customers but a chance to feed the community. If allowed the opportunity I would make shirts for low income less fortunate kids here in Nashville, Tennessee so they can know what it feels like to look good and provide confidence. Thanks CTM
Very clear and nice video. but I have a question. What type of photoemulsion and what light source are you using? Type of light and how much wattage should it be? I would be very grateful if you could give me detailed information about this.
Thanks for your excellent instruction. I keep getting asked to do T-shirts and the idea has always phased me till I watched this. Time to raid Amazon.👍🏻
I have trouble when it comes to washing the screen, I didn’t know if it was because of the pressure of the hose when washing it. Or if I left it exposing under the light too long. Or possibly the consistency of the emulsion. But when I go to wash it the emulsion around the design comes offf too
I had to just say as I'm clicking off and have not seen this video But I love when people give back as this is valuable info listen young ones👌 Or don't...! Just kitten It's not every day I see actually I only come in here once in a while because word of the day integrity!😎
thanks for this tutorial but did i miss material shopping list with links? what type of emulsion? what type iof light in dark room are you using to prevent photosensitive emuslsion fior being reactive? where can i grab the scoop tray and what brand? thanks
This is the simplest and best video on how to start screen printing I have ever saw. Dying to try this out.

Gotta be a easier process. Because if you gotta do this for every design. Lid what happens to the smiley face design,

Love this video!
extra tip! After printing, seal ur design by putting parchment over it and ironing on a low setting for 30 seconds

Finally someone who knows what he's talking about and shows the whole process. Cheers!!
I never thought of applying a second colour that way!🤩
As a College student studying fashion hoping to start a t-shirt line by this summer, this video helped me soooooo much, straight fire fs!!
Hi Gabrielle, thinking of the same too. Geographically I am in Africa but politically in Kenya. Check my stuff out and I believe you will love them.
Best of luck!

Please more videos with Tek. He's so good and to the point when expanding screen printing.

Love art and i love expression. I need that for artistic expression
this is the BEST screen printing tutorial on youtube ever. props bro 💯
Like this guy very much laid back but not loud, cool but not over the top… Wonderful!

so stoked on trying this process, it reminds me of developing a film photo in the dark room.

That scraping sound gives me goosebumps.
I’ve had a couple failed attempts with my screen printing but this vid is givin me hope
I have come back to say that I’m final all screen printing!

Thanks so much. Wasn't taught this in art school so I've been looking for this. Glad I found this.

Tek voice so soothing. Love it!!!!!

Best video on screen printing! Super clean and simple! Thanks🙌🏼🙌🏼
man thank you! simple straight to the point best video to diy screen printing !
Cool video, thank you!
Few questions: what's the blow dryer temperature? How bright is the lamp?
I’ve been meaning to get into screen printing for a while, this is so dope!
I worked at the largest screen printing manufacturer in Ohio for a few years and our darkroom had dark red lights. Not sure if it was a certain kind or just any red would do, but it is def a lot better than pure black.
Thanks for your video. It’s great. What’s the bulb used to expose a silk screen.
Love seeing more people get into the art of silkscreening
I used to do that. We had a darkroom, drying station. Exposure room.
This was a very relaxed and simple way to describe the process. I appreciate you homie! Going to get the stuff this month
saw another video and was discouraged but now I wanna try it bc you made it look easier
Holy Cow Thanks Tek! Funny, dun, short, concise, great use of sfx and music. I'm so glad I found your video 🥺🙌🏽
Thanks for this tutorial! Really helpful. Just wondering my led lamp is 100W , how long should I expose the light? Some say 5 sec, 10 sec , up to 5 to 10 min... I’m really confused. Thanks for any help!
did you ever find out this answer? i’m searching…
Thank you this helps a lot!!! I’m just wondering how would I apply something that I made on illustrator to the actual screen do I have to get it printed somewhere? Thank you!
You can have it printed on a transparency at almost any office supply store or you can invest in a good printer that will handle transparencies
I needed this. It'll give me some motivation to finally setup my screen printing machine after a year :')
You are not alone my friend. Lol😂
Did you do it?
LOVE THE JOY IN THIS VIDEO!!!!
Your voice is so soothing, I'm almost falling asleep 😽
I NOW KNOW HOW TO MAKE A SCREEN FOR SCREEN PRINTING!
THANK YOU CHINATOWN MARKET AND TEK!!!
That's such a sick design, I legit thought it was a Futura design when I first saw the clip on Instagram!
Does it matter which type emulsion? There are several types on Amazon.
Do you have a video on how to use the vector image as a negative? Thanks
Did you find out which type emulsion is best?
Great success always uncle. Very inspired. HEALTHY greetings.
This is a wonderful video! Can you link where you got all your products? Ive read there are different model numbers of screens and I want to make sure I use the same one. I want to get everything you had since it came out so great!
So simple yet cool. Thank you for this fun tutorial. God bless 🙏🏼🙂❤
And just think….l was going to pay thousands of dollars to learn how to screen print at collage for an art major 😂 learned it for free here! Thank you!
Thank you!!!! You are simply the best!!! ❤❤❤
Great video, thanks Tek 🎉
Thanks ! Super helpful! ?? Do you print without any paper between the front and back of T?
Very nice😊My class used this to learn how to burn a screen and they found this very helpful.Thank you

@@jamesjohno1180if you go to staples or something you can get transparent paper that you can run through an ink jet!!
I think he meant print on the see through foil and then the ink of the print will shield the screen from the light @@jamesjohno1180
Was that a pressure washer you used to blow out the design or just a jet spray from a standard garden hose nozzle? Thanks for the great video!
This is not only a gift to fans and customers but a chance to feed the community. If allowed the opportunity I would make shirts for low income less fortunate kids here in Nashville, Tennessee so they can know what it feels like to look good and provide confidence. Thanks CTM
you have to provide blank t-shirts anyways but thats still dope
That’s so sick dude! Have to try this myself
loved this. what was the wattage of the flood light. i used a 500 watt for five minutes and got serious underexposure. thanks
This video is excellent. Quick and to the point. Great detailed directions. Great camera angles.
Nice and professional. Great work
Nice video, Tek. Really clear. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your easy simple video 🔥
awesome! is the screen able to be used again? how do you get the emulsion off to do a new design?
+1 I have the same question too.
This is insane! I started customizing art in my videos 🖤🖤🖤
I love this so much. Chinatown market honestly one of my favorite brands. You guys are killing it!
Good, good video to start off with.
Nice orientation. Thank you.
You give off really sincere vibes bro. 👍🏼
Dope video, that’s a pretty fast exposure time. I have to wait 3 min & 50 sec.
Probably depends on the UV output of your lamp/light source.
I have trouble when it comes to washing the screen, I didn’t know if it was because of the pressure of the hose when washing it. Or if I left it exposing under the light too long. Or possibly the consistency of the emulsion. But when I go to wash it the emulsion around the design comes offf too
I have this same issue that why I came to this video for
I love that you offer screen prints and even those tie dye kits. I'd like to win this screen print as the image is 🔥
This is really simple video. Well done, brother! You're talent and professional!
Like it but is there a bulb model number you are using in the headlamp?
I learned how to do this in a 10th-grade art class at Berea High School in Berea Ohio in 1980!
Always wanted to screen print this would be an amazing way to start
I had to just say as I'm clicking off and have not seen this video
But I love when people give back as this is valuable info
listen young ones👌
Or don't...! Just kitten
It's not every day I see actually I only come in here once in a while because word of the day integrity!😎
So inspired, going to try making my own t-shirts now.
Thanks for the video, How did you come up with 2 mins for exposure time?
This would be crazy to be able to do at any time
love everything Chinatown Markets do this video is a big help
My only wish is to have this guy teach me EVERYTHING!
Good job man quick n easy
How to video
This is all I wanna do, bring my art to life on shirts.. thank you sir
How great to learn more about the geniuses who make this possible
Aye Tek!! Appreciate this video so much!! Thank you!!
The short is so dope. I literally learn new things every episode. Love it.
thanks for this tutorial but did i miss material shopping list with links? what type of emulsion? what type iof light in dark room are you using to prevent photosensitive emuslsion fior being reactive? where can i grab the scoop tray and what brand? thanks
Sweet bro! Thanx for the vid! Way cheaper than I thought!
This is dope how you guys show industry outsiders how it's done, y'all are awesome 😎
Bang bara nomor ape
Urang dima.bang
How long did you blow dry the emulsion and was it cold or hot
What color emulsion do you use? Does it matter? How dark should a room be when adding the emulsion? Can I use a uv light to burn the screen?
Yo this is absolutely dope. I’d be keen to try this out a lot if I won.
