- Welcome Back to McAllen, TX -- McAllen Offers a mix of benefits and drawbacks for those considering a move. On the plus side, McAllen has a lower cost of living compared to the national average, making housing and everyday expenses more affordable. However, the city does face some challenges, such as high temperatures and a risk of severe weather events like hurricanes and windstorms. Additionally, while many residents appreciate the strong sense of community and local amenities, others may find the job market and economic opportunities somewhat limited compared to larger metropolitan areas

By the grace of God, I’m moving to McAllen Texas this month. Moving with my son and I am nervous! Wanted to move to Austin, but God got us a home in McAllen ; and I’m grateful.
Thank you for sharing. This helped
Welcome to the valley! I'm happy to hear it worked out for you and your son!
I am in Ohio and looking to move before my daughter begins her next school year. I have been looking into Mexico bordering cities because I definitely want to be able to visit there often. I love Mexico. I think I am going to have to call you! This is enticing.
I'm from southern California and just got out of the Army, as well just got back from being deployed overseas for two years. I currently live in Fort Worth but have my eye on the RGV, especially McAllen. I of course moved away from California for ALL the reasons one should. And I vow to not bring that mindset here lol. I'm currently looking for federal jobs in McAllen, although I don't really have to work anymore. I also plan to use my G.I. Bill and Hazlewood Act of TX to continue school at the university. I love to travel. so it's great that there is an int'l airport down there. I of course plan to use my VA home loan to buy a house. I cannot believe the low prices of the great houses down there. It almost seems too good to be true. I refuse to pay those San Diego prices ever again! I'm 37 and single, never been married and only one child who is almost grown, and would like for her to go to college somewhere that isn't too wild, when she moves to TX. I kind of wish there were was a little bit more black people in the area; but being from souther Cali and a veteran, I am totally fine with any culture and creed. It's just good to see a similar shade sometime to share cultural similarities with, no matter who you are.. I have now realized that I've made a dating app profile in these comments. Sorry, I'm just excited to get this ball rolling.
Great video.

Adding a few things: 1. Construction is so bad that construction sites look exactly the same 5 years later, and as soon as one is done, the next ramp or intersection is next, it's a never ending cycle. 2. There is little violence that spills over, however, you are definitely living next to mafia money. It's so overt, there will be a $1M mini mansions in a neighborhood of $100k homes. 3. Corruption among politicians and law enforcement. It's confined to mostly drug trade, but it's very bad.
How bad is the drug thing
Yea how bad is the drug trade? Is there junky’s and gun violence around the family communities?
@@dianerodriguez6546 It's not a drug area where you will find a bunch of junkies. The cartels move it across the border and stash it in that area for the drugs to be sent out nation-wide. It's not a 'in-your-face' type of drug area. but yea, it's there haha. If your children go to a very nice school, then chances are your children will be going to school with children who's parents are connected to the cartel. But to think too deep into that is bad, as most people are not into that and just want to raise their families and be happy like anyone else. I absolutely think it is worth it to move to McAllen and enjoy the greatness it offers.
How much is an average 2 bedroom house cost ?
I was really surprised to find out that 2-bedroom houses range from $85000 to $600000! There is a lot to look at. There are 29 2-bedroom homes on the market in this area. Are you from here, or are you looking to move here? Of course, this number is just for houses. It goes up considerable if we factor in Condos and mobile homes.
As a McAllen resident I don’t mind ya living here , but ya really welcoming other people here and gonna make our community bigger lol the traffic is gonna get bad 🤦🏽♂️smh all these people gonna move now , 4-5 years ago was so calm
I don’t like the idea of cutting trees to built houses. That is going to hurt the environment and the birds.
The problem in United States is capitalism. As soon as they find a place close to the beach with opportunity of making money.
Bye bye middle class
I just moved here from Oregon. Oregon has turned into a shit hole. McAllen is so much nicer. The houses look better the streets are clean and there are little homeless running around leaving needles everywhere. I also like the fact that crt and wokeism isn't prevalent here. The cost of living is literally half of what it was in Oregon. They have everything you need here then the whole state of Oregon. I've lived in southern Oregon and in Salem so I've been through the whole state. The women here dress more conservative, the only downside is how hot it can be, but even then it's not as bad as Oregon summers. Every summer in Oregon is basically a smoke fest since there's fires every summer down there. One of the best choices I've ever made was moving to Texas.
Give us a call when you are ready!
can you shut up and stop telling every one. they need to learn to live with their needles.
In California, the property taxes Once local adjustments are factored in, the effective property tax rate in Sacramento is around 1.3% of your property's purchase price.
And CA State tax so how much is it over there? Also other fees like smog etc
According to smartasset, its 1.6%. Smog? Unheard of here. It is occasionally hazy due to agriculture.
It's like 3% per year. But homes are 1/10th the price in CA.
@@LivinginMcAllenTX except you also have Tornado's, Hail Storms?? , Humidity...among other issues and humid sticky air….
Guessing they make up for no state tax by higher sales and property taxes?
Been to taxes, too hot 🔥
border town
Rampant racism
I'm white and I'm just fine.
@@LivinginMcAllenTXI think Leo was being sarcastic 😊
I’ve lived down there. It’s a shithole. To use trumps words
Aww that’s harsh 😂😂😂😂
