  • Easyjoint is the All Weather Paving Joint Compound. Phil discusses a job installed 9 years ago with EasyJoint and shows how well the product held up in a high traffic, heavily power washed area. Isn't this the kind of product you would want installed at your house?

    We did our first ~325 Unilock Beacon Hill Flagstone install with EasyJoint, and loved it. Would highly recommend... easy to use, apply, permeable and has held up great so far (only 6 months ago but still, loved not having to worry about hazing and the likes).

    And it also stains the surface of slabs due to its oil base. I think its best to just pour it over the joints and compact it down with a jointerrather than brush it round into the stone

    Most the time it's improperly installed if it's coming up like that install it correctly you would put a light poured out on the pavers spread it out with a broom and plate compact it but put some carpet down so you don't hurt your pavers

    Can you use the easy joint product to repair flagstone mortar issues where there are holes or large gaps that have deteriorated over time?

    • @PaverToolInnovators
      @PaverToolInnovators  ปีที่แล้ว

      Be sure that you have a solid proper base otherwise any joint will fail. Easy joint could be a good application for this but be sure that you have at least one inch of depth and joints no wider than 5 inches.

    Thanks for the video! A couple of questions:
    1.) Do you compact the pavers after sweeping the slurry into the joints?
    2.) Would this product be suitable if most joints are 1/4", but some joints are 1/8" (or slightly below) because of paver cuts? Unfortunately, I let some of my joints get smaller on my first attempt at my paver patio!
    3.) Is this product suitable when using an HPB setting bed (i.e. 1/8" to 1/4" crushed limestone washed clean)?
    Thanks!

    • @PaverToolInnovators
      @PaverToolInnovators  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello -
      Thank you for reaching out to Pave Tool. We do recommend compaction, 1/8" joint is very difficult to use with this product - it can be done with a lot of patience - we would only recommend an experienced EasyJoint user. Dense or Open Grade base systems are fine, with Dense grade bases we suggest keeping an eye on how much water is being used making sure it does not puddle, Open Grade bases applying water generously. Not recommended for any concrete bases.

      @@PaverToolInnovators Thanks for your response, you guys are awesome! I didn’t realize you had responded until I was researching and found your video again haha! I’d say that less than 5% of my joints are about 1/8”, and 95% are about 1/4”, so I think it might work! A couple of other questions:
      1.) I know it isn’t supposed to haze, but do you have to somehow clean your pavers after everything dries? Or do you have to meticulously ensure that all the slurry is washed off the pavers?
      2.) If I’m using a compacted crusher-run base (properly sloped for drainage) with a 1” HPB bedding layer, I think my installation is compatible with easy joint?
      Thanks again!

      @@bryandonkersgoed3579 they also have another product called EasyJoint Pro. It uses little water, soaking the pavers before applying and maybe just a little during installation to keep it thinned out if it's too thick to work with. A plate compactor will help the product settle into smaller joints. But be sure to use protection between the plate compactor and the pavers, as to not scratch the surface. They also recommend sealing the pavers beforehand to minimize hazing.

    How many tubs would I need for a roughly 420 sq ft patio? I believe each tub is 40 lbs. My joints are of different widths. Some places they're 1/4 inch, some places they're wider. The tiles are also of different sizes.

    Hi, great info here! I'm a homeowner doing my own patio and have already laid the pavers over 6+ inches of crushed concrete and a final 1 inch layer of 100% sand. I know the crushed concrete is permeable but is the 1 inch layer of sand permeable enough for Easyjoint? Thanks

    • @PaverToolInnovators
      @PaverToolInnovators  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is - the trick is to keep it wet so it does not cure but not so wet were it puddles and you can't get it to drain. You need three people to really do this job correctly. One to broom, one to watch the moisture on the product and one to work with the edges and make sure there is no missing spots. It is, if installed correctly an amazing product. You can call in to 860-870-8665 to obtain more information.

      Hi. Yes, you can install this without the Hydro Broom but I would not recommend it. It is the perfect bristle and allows for the perfect water flow for this product.

    Hi. I have an enclosed paver patio that was installed a few years ago. At the time I had no knowledge of polymeric sand or sealer. The contractor used play sand in the joints which easily washes out and gets algae/mold, weeds and ants -- as it rains a lot in the Summer where we live. Polymeric seems very temperamental; and I want to avoid using since its always so moist where we live and enclosed space would be hard to get all the sand off of the top of pavers before setting. The EasyJoint product looks promising... However, I see that it is recommended for joints 3/16 and up. Most of my joints are tighter than this, probably 2/16. Would this product still work at all for me? Thanks in advance.

    • @PaverToolInnovators
      @PaverToolInnovators  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, Thank you for watching our video! Yes, the requirement for EasyJoint installation is that the joints needs to be a minimum of 3/16. With joints tighter than this it is difficult to properly install the EasyJoint product and it will not settle properly within the joints.

    Why not sweep it in " dry" and then wet it?

    • @PaverToolInnovators
      @PaverToolInnovators  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi - without it being wet it would be much harder to get into the joints - not to mention you'd have to make sure it is all wet for it to adhere together. U would not recommend it.

    • @PaverToolInnovators
      @PaverToolInnovators  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Deirdre -
      Thank you for your question!
      I reached out to the distributor because we've never heard of this issue.
      The distributor stated: Usually the oil in the EasyJoint will stain when there is not enough water applied or not enough rinsing of the product. It will go away 3-6 months naturally. You can speed up the process by lightly torching it but this can be VERY dangerous not to crack or ruin your sandstone. Not worth trying it - in our opinion. They said sometimes contractors are so used to Polysand that they think they are using a ton of water because it is more than they would normally use but this takes a Lot of Water. I hope this helps for your next project.

    On the project you showed that was a year old, what type of base stone did you use? I spoke to a contractor who uses eazyjoint and he mentioned that he uses a 10 inch base of clean stone with no drainage pipes in the patio base. Do you guys use any perferated pipes to help with the removal of water while using clean stone? Do you think a 10 inch base of clean stone is enough stone to not install drainage? Also with walkways, like the one you showed in the video. What type of base and drainage did you use? Thanks for any info you have. Thanks

    • @PaverToolInnovators
      @PaverToolInnovators  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Nick,
      When Prepping a base for open grade (permeable) simple walks and patios, we will dig 10” down from finish grade. Note; always make sure water has a way out of your sub base. This can be accomplished with a pipe or a simple crushed stone relief area to daylight. We always recommend a soil stabilization fabric. We use ASTM #57(3/4”clean washed stone) Once base is graded to perfection we lay down 1” screed rails and screed 1” of ASTM #8 or #9 (3/8” crushed wash stone) Lay pavers, cut pavers wet or with dustless technology, Install Hybrid Edging(the only open grade edging on the market with a positive connection to the earth, which was also chosen by ICPI for there latest open grade test area) I hope this is helpful, please do not hesitate to reach out if I have not answered sufficiently. Thank you. Sincerely, Phil Bahler
