    My Golden Retriever ate one of the supposedly indestructible Kong toys. Unfortunately I worked out of town so no one noticed anything. When I returned I noticed he didn’t want to do his retrieving training drills and he was eating grass in the yard. I took him to a vet who missed his initial diagnosis. Saw a second vet who diagnosed him with a bowel obstruction. Underwent surgery and ultimately had a chunk of Kong toy removed along with two feet of grass behind the obstruction. He was up and eating the following day and returned to his formal training program. Lived and retrieved birds until he was 15 years old! Fabulous dog. I miss him.

      I am sorry you had a bad experience...it must have been traumatic ...I have a high drive working dog and he gets a frozen kong every day...his teeth are pristine....i have seen some knock offs sold as kongs...i own 13 kongs so when one looks a bit diffrent it warrants inspection ....make sure it is a genuine kong. I have bought other stuffables... some good some bad....but i loooooooove kongs

      Sorry to hear about your dog's bad experience. I'm stating this information to others out there considering buying a Kong: The Kong company manufacturers a "Kong Extreme", which is made for "power chewers". It is black rubber instead of red. Also, be sure to get the correct size! A small Kong for pill-sized dogs can be swallowed by a large dog! I saw both the red and the black Kongs in stores and decided on the Extreme; why not? Our puppy is a chewer and I figured I'd get their toughest product!

    I have a shepherd mix rescue and soften kibble, mix with a small amount of peanut butter, stuff then freeze the Kong. It works wonders for teething discomfort and she’s busy for hours. Best toy ever!

    The baby kong broke apart and my puppy swallowed it. He had to have surgery to get it out. Just always watch your puppy’s whenever you give them anything! 💕

    These are the saviour of dinner time! My vizsla gets one that's been stuffed with baby bell cheese, some dried meat pieces, sealed with a blob of yoghurt and then frozen. She will sit on her towel beside the dinner table and wait, drooling! It takes her a good half hour to get through, she stays on her towel the whole time and it means we get to eat in peace.

    Our pup had such a rough time teething so I got some big, chunky limited ingredient chew sticks and shove one into the Kong so he doesn’t choke on the leftover nub. When he gets it all I take a chop stick and shove the leftover piece out to toss in the trash. Our other dog can’t have Kongs with food inside because he resource guards them, we can pet him while he’s eating dinner but can’t go near him if he’s got a stuffed Kong, it’s a bit odd that it’s only an issue with this specific toy/food. This means the little guy only gets a Kong in his playpen or if we are holding it for him.

    My 18 mo old Yorkie has destroyed 3 Kong toys for heavy chewers since I adopted her 7 months ago. Thankfully, the ONLY thing she chews on are her toys.
    My Cavachon had the same Kong toy for 13 years.

    Thanks for another great video! One big question though- doesn't it mess your pants up, keeping cheese in the pockets? Im trying to find a cheap fancy pack or something to keep stuff in cause I don't think I could keep treats/cheese in my pockets lol!

    • @infin8ee
      @infin8ee ปีที่แล้ว

      How about a treat bag? That way it's with you when you need it but not in clothing. I used to constantly be finding treats in pockets on wash day and sometimes I'd find them AFTER the washing - yuck😂
      Lots of places sell them, McCann's have them so it's just a matter of finding the right one for you. All the best 🤗

      You could keep it in your mouth then. When its time to hand over, just open your mouth wide open right in front of the dog's face and let 'em at it! 🙂 your lil furbaby will surely love it!

    I just took home a 5.5 week old puppy and want to start training him, however he is still eating soft food and can’t chew a treat yet. Is there anything you suggest I use for now until he’s able to chew store bought treats?

    • @birdenthusiastg5570
      @birdenthusiastg5570 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe dip the soft food in chicken or beef broth to add some extra flavor and put those in there? That way you know the puppy can handle the food but the broth taste will make it more appealing?

    I’m not sure if you’ve done a video on this but could you make a video on remedies for fixing puppy breath? Or like how to help fix puppy breath? My 6-8 week pup has really bad breath it smells as if she’s only been eating her own poop since day one about 7 days ago and seems to only be getting worse. Her whole cage lingers with the smell despite cleaning almost daily.

    How in the heck do you get the dog to chew the Kong to break up the frozen stuff at the bottom of the Kong? My Dal won't chew the rubber toys to get anything out of them and wants me to break it up for her and get it out

    • @mattrice6356
      @mattrice6356 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Start with soft unfrozen treats like peanut butter or wet food smeared near the top then progress to frozen once she begins to work it out. Our Springer never chews them but will spend ages licking out the contents. PS She’s probably also learned that it’s easier to bring it to you to do the hard work! Just leave her with it to work it out or hold it while she licks.

I originally bought the red one when she still under a yr old. That was a joke... Girl at pet store guaranteed the Black Large version will be Much more durable RIGHT? NOT... funny thing she chews on all her toys but not destructive in house??? Thank goodness!!! Love her very much anyway.. I just cant leave her alone with toys like that ...EVER!(! expensive Lil girl 😂)
