    I have at least five Expedition models. They are undemanding, unassuming, throw-on and go-on trusted companions. Yes I have Tudors, GSs, Longines etc., but I regard my Timexes as trusted, unassuming and loyal. I am trying to decide on the sixth to add a green dial to my collection; camper with green dial 40mm, or the smaller green dial Expedition with a metal case. Not sure yet but thank you for an authentic and sensible review; I just discovered your channel and subscribed.

    Great watch. Articulating ends on the band help it to conform to the wrist along with the turned down lugs. A great size and super light. The band lasted for years then I finally had to replace it. Long battery life if you don't use the indiglo often. Indiglo beats any luminescence on any watch. I now have 2 and they are my all around go to watches.

    The expedition line is fantastic. I have the Expedition North Field Post Solar and it's great.

    I bought this or its predecessor about ten years ago because Timex advertised a ten year battery life.The original battery gave up after roughly nine years (which I thought was pretty good).Mine says it is water resistant to 100 metres.The indigo light stopped working after about five years.It differs by having a steel bezel and a back that is lever off rather than a screw down.It keeps excellent time.I'm expecting it to give up pretty soon so keeping my eyes open for my next purchase.

    i went to war with a timex camper back in the 90s. It was the mechanical winding movement. it did not last 1 year in the field. I bought another camper, this time the expedition. Again it only lasted a few months. i then bought a casio HDA600 and it lasted 3 years of hard living until i misplaced it. In civilian life, my field watch is the citizen oxymilitary which needs servicing now ( after 10 years of casual use). if you want a beater/outdoors watch, japanese watches are more robust

      @beber forumer, thanks for sharing! It is always great to get a real world field experience perspective! I will also have a closer look at Casio HDA600 and citizen oxymilitary, so thanks for mentioning those as well! 🙂👍

    Interested what the all stainless watch is, far right on your stand. Looks similar to a Rolex but I couldn't catch the manufacturers name. Thanks nice review of the Timex, excellent for my dad.

    I prefer the Indigo Mark 1, without calendar, 40mm. Mine is good to 30 meters. NATO Straps are a godsend.

    Hey Shiny! Great review... Timex..Not my cup of tea... bring in a Seiko military on a canvas strap! And then compare the 2...👌🔥

    • @ShinyThings
      @ShinyThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @WesKnows if you mean Seiko 5 field watch - it is a great watch, but it is almost 5 times more expensive than this Timex. I will add it to my review log, so we will need to wait and see... 🙂 Thanks for your support! 🙂👍

      Lots of more expensive watches offer more for the money. Seiko isn't one of them.

  • @tech29X

    I wish watch makers stop putting a date window on their watches. Nowadays date function is rarely needed considering how many devices we have show the date. Unlike time, date only changes once a day. On the other hand it often ruins the symmetry/esthetics of the dial and adds one more (unnecessary) complication to the movement. Resembles a pirates eye patch.

    Nice review but the model is for kids 😂 and teenagers. I'm from india and this model was not available hear. In our country people mostly buy watch from Titan Company.. do you hear the brand name.. hope you will reply my comment ..

      What makes this model a kids watch ? Timex does make watches for kids, but this model can be worn by kids and adults alike. Titan ? Never heard of it.

  • @sam9242

    Timex makes better Expedition watches than this. The T49962 at $29 for example, real metal case, larger 24 hour numbers, more readable hands and much sturdier crown. All subjective though.

    • @ShinyThings
      @ShinyThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Sam thanks for sharing, I looked at it, and I am a bit on the fence though, no crown guards and the date window is a bit less readable, also in UK this model is much more expensive than in US - on Amazon uk at least. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍
