11:37 I don't see the skull, but the dark area of cooling rock at the upper right clearly looks like a fetus. Symbolically fitting for the birth of new land.
Thank you so much for sharing your incredible experience with the volcano! I'm absolutely in awe of the last two photos, I've never seen anything so beautiful! ❤️ ✌️ ❤️ 😂 From Northern California 🤓❤️✌️
I really enjoyed watching the Michael. Those top down videos were mesmerising. And that photo of the 'dragon' was incredible. It is a great experience watching a live volcano that is for sure.
This brought back so many incredible memories from my own visit and I can only agree it's a highlight of a landscape photograpy career! We must have been there only a few days apart. Good to see I'm not the only one who melts drones 😅 - incredible photos as always! :D
Thanks so much Mads, glad you were able to catch it as well! It was hard to capture just how spectacular it was in person. I felt like even though I was happy with my photographic results, they still didn't do justice to the whole experience. Yeah, I was surprised I didn't catch you or Albert out there! But it was quite the crowd at times haha
@@MichaelShainblum yes absolutely, catching the size and from a low angle was really hard. It seems they had it a bit easier last year. I'm quite content with my final photo with two people in front where I managed to perspective compress the photo. I aimed to get one with myself, but despite going back and forward three times in the darkness I just couldn't line myself up between the volcano and camera 🤦♂️ I'd love to come back to CA and it would be great fun to go shoot together 🙏
Baaahhhhhhh those drone sequences are magic mate. Great choice of music too. Amazing work Shainbloom. Top down is where its at for this shoot for sure.
Amazing photos and time-lapses. Wonder what would a photo-blend would look like. One shot freezing the smoke and lava splashes and the other a time-lapse of just the river flowing.
Stunning images Micheal, I was lucky enough to witness the previous eruption in August 2021 with my daughter on the last night of our Iceland trip. As you say it’s tricky capturing crisp images due to the heat, smoke and brightness. I was a complete novice at the time but managed a few good images, one of which has literally just made the final 50 in a photographic competition back home in the UK. It was just getting dusk at 23.35pm and the eruption and lava lit up the clouds above with incredible colour. I am very proud of the image and feel extremely privileged to have witnessed such a wonder of nature. Possibly a once in a lifetime moment and one that will stay with me forever 🌋
Just when i though you were one of the best photo guys on the you tubes...you do this! OMG! some of your best work yet! absolute blast to watch this vlog and keep up the stellar work!
I love all the lava drone shots! One of the most eye pleasing images I've seen. Love the dragon shot, I immediately recognised it. Also the first one of the 3, looked like a bonsai tree to me for some reason, the trunk and branches have some resemblances.
So incredibly inspiring ! I'm a retired commercial photographer and since a few years swapped corporate deadlines , weddings and portraits for reasonably well paid Landscape photography. No more stress , just enjoy what I do best and get paid for it as well. Your work really inspires me - your 'photo eye' is just perfect. And your friendly way of sharing your work just makes it an awesome pleasure to watch. I wish you many many more great images 'for ever and a day ' ! Greetings from 'Warrumbungle' an ancient extinct volcano - where I live - in Australia.
This has to be your best video to date. Great compositions showing the lava textures, these are some of the best I've seen. Good tip about switching the memory cards in between flights. I hope I can exprience this some day.
This is the best photography video I have seen on TH-cam and some of the best images. We are off to Iceland at the end of February but don't for a second think any of our images will compare to yours. Thank you
This whole thing was simply amazing. The images, timelapses, and video sequences were all top-notch, but the clincher for me was the footage around 11:00 where you could see the ripples moving through the lava like the surface of a lake.
I think the heat bubbling the air actually gives a really interesting effect; it looks like the background is being viewed through a clean sheet of ice. Not the type of atmospheric separation one sees very often. Amazing photos overall.
It's incredible to see what you were able to photograph there! I really love the last image, reminded me of my walk back from there to the car when I was there. Thanks!
what a epic way to send off a drone that is being retired it gave you some epic last shots and as the owner I can think of a better way to retire a drone then how you did it!
Holy smoke! This is the most spectacular of all your videos I've seen. What an incredible place, and you made some astonishingly interesting and beautiful images. Utterly excellent. The whole video production is top notch as well, images, footage, editing, sound mixing, music selection, narration. So enjoyable to see and hear.
Absolutely stunning footage of the volcano. Love your photos and the way you share your insights. I was lucky to visit the first Fagradalsfjall volcano 4 times and each time the landscape looked completely different. I can't think of anything more spectacular on earth, to be honest.
12:37 the first one: for me it looks like the bottom is a mountain peak rock, and the above is a growing tree. The second one: above the half looks like a sky of a different plannet and below that, imagine that the black areas is land, like you are looking horizontally and the lava looks like a croken damn and liquid flowing thougth the opening.
Some of the most incredible images I've seen from anyone. A lot of the images you've captured from the air remind me of patterns of fractals. Awesome work!
Super vids and photos especially with the drone. If I ever go visit an active volcano, I'll make sure I have a drone with me. Those top down images were mesmerizing.
Highlight of your photographic journey, for sure (absolutely breathtaking and captivating)....Thanks for bring this wonderous world into our world. 👏👏👏
Wow. I am dumbfounded. This has to be the most beautiful and unique photography I’ve ever seen. The drone footage is extraordinary and mesmerizing. (I’m sorry for your loss Michael). The textures and colors are phenomenal. I could stare at them for hours. I definitely see a dragon and other mythical creatures in some of those images. I love all of your videos but this one just got first place in my mind. Thank you again for sharing this beauty. Your work is outstanding and always leaves me anticipating your next video. I’m going to have to watch this one a few more times though.
Amazing photos. I have seen other photographs of this volcano and to be honest yours stand out much higher than others among those I have seen. Great job Micheal! It's always true inspiration for me to watch your work. Thank you
I know I‘ve said it a few times now, but your videos are simply the greatest photography stories on TH-cam. I love watching your content, it‘s so inspiring, calming and exciting to watch. Thanks for sharing your images and thoughts with us. Also great photos as always 🙏🤩
Amazing video and images ❤️ loved seeing them on Instagram and Facebook but the process getting them in this vlog was awesome, many thanks for taking us on this journey with you ❤️
Pure awesomness so well done almost worth the drone ! From the three lava pics in the first I also see a figure and the lava squirst out of its head ! Greetings from Sweden !
You've been my favorite photographer since I came across you on 500px years and years ago. You are only getting better by the day and have been a huge inspiration. This video and the photos from this trip are amazing. Never stop!
Congrats you did an amazing job ! I. ncredible compositions in your drone footage and I likd the great "dragon" image the best . Keep up the great work.
Amazing video Michael! Really enjoyed the images and video! A few people have mentioned it but the fire breathing rabbit is very eye catching!! in the 6th minute!
Wow Nola, thank you so much for the donation! That is extremely kind of you! This will go directly to my new drone fund, but this time I promise not to melt it in a volcano! :D
Wow Michael! This video was a visual crescendo start to finish and just kept getting more amazing. Best volcano footage I've seen. And yes, dragons all the way through!! Very smart advice to periodically save the cards and so glad you didn't melt any of them!
Absolutely incredible Michael, the long exposure image was just amazing. And the drone footage was magical. TH-cam video of the year for me. I so want to go to Iceland now. Thanks for sharing this amazing work.
Just epic in many ways! We've just come back from 10 days in Iceland, shame we didn't get to see the volcano active but we had lots of aurora to enjoy 😀 My series of vids is on my channel
Wow! Incredible photography. The larva dragon capture is mind blowing. You deserve so many more subscribers. I've seen some so called landscape photographers with half a million plus subscribers on here and are no where near as accomplished as you Micheal.
This one counts as one of the best, if not the best, video I've seen from the group of professionals I regularly follow! Well done, Michael. My wife and I both sat and watched and we were equally in awe. In the second image (you called it a skull) I thought I saw the Alien that attacked Sigourney :) and the Dragon - that one was spot on. Keep it up, really enjoy your channel.
Spectacular Michael. You impress w/ every video. GREAT images. I'm sure you had more than me terrified ready to watch the video bubble out from all the spews exploding up to us after you prepared us for a surprise ahead. I'm prone to seeing Anima in all pictures so I'll spare you but to say Yeah you're right w/ that. Thanks always for your always incredible adventures.

Awesome video and shots mate. Yeah, that heat haze is really challenging but the end result is still impressive. I'm looking at flights right now...
*A wild Gavin appears*
Thanks so much man! :)
What a video! Everything is perfect: amazing rushes, beautiful music and obviously wonderful shots... I was absolutely fascinated.
Spectacular work, Michael. Man, the dragon and the last shot of the smoke plume are incredible!
Baaahhhhhhh those drone sequences are magic mate. Great choice of music too. Amazing work Shainbloom. Top down is where its at for this shoot for sure.
Thanks so much Greg, really glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely incredible shots. I have never seen lava in such beautiful detail.
Amazing photos and time-lapses. Wonder what would a photo-blend would look like. One shot freezing the smoke and lava splashes and the other a time-lapse of just the river flowing.
One of my favourite videos of your Mike and some of the best aerials of the eruption. Holy! Excellent.
6:47 that’s my favorite, love the simplicity
Breathtaking! My favourite are the dragon and the Chinese Empress or a lady from a Japanese print at 10.00. These two form a perfect diptych.
Some incredible images for sure.....Almost a once in a lifetime event!
Just wish I could make it over there 🤩
Thanks for sharing! 😊
The most incredible video of a Volcano I have ever seen. I am so Jealous. Keep it coming.

The top down photos are really special. Mesmerising fractals. Incredible work!
The most spectacular and poetic photos/vids I have seen from this eruption! Kudos, Michael!
This whole thing was simply amazing. The images, timelapses, and video sequences were all top-notch, but the clincher for me was the footage around 11:00 where you could see the ripples moving through the lava like the surface of a lake.
Wow! My favourite images are the one at 9.59, 14.31 and that amazing dragon. Wonderful.
Just MAGNIFACENT footage and photos! I was mesmerized by lava flows, patterns and textures. Well done!

Talking about playing with fire... Stunning work! That "dragon" shot is unbelievable, and so is the "skull" one.
Mesmerizing imagery and cinematography Michael, thanks for the video. The overhead drone images were great.
You are really "the smooth operator" of landscape, seascape and now on of volcano eruption.
This was epic to watch. Some truly great moments captured on camera in multiple ways. Congrats and well executed Michael

The word is used too often but in this case, it's just worthy. "EPIC"
