    My wife and I bought one. We just went to Hatfield and McCoy trails it was a blast the maverick trail did not disappoint.

    Probably one of the best review out there. Honest and forthright without being too over the top or too negative. Touched on all the things most riders are interested it. I live in WY and my experience tells me the one thing to keep in mind is very few trails are going to get wider from what they are now. Over-use with wide machines including jeeps and large pickups will cause many public areas to be narrowed or no longer maintained. From that perspective a 50" machine makes a lot of sense for now and future riding.

      I appreciate the comment and feedback! With that being the case with our trail systems, i'm definitely glad that the SxS manufacturers are looking forward and pushing their 50" lineups. - Josh

    Thanks for the video and I have a Maverick trail 1000DPS wich is my first UTV and feels great. My wife drives it with ease and it fits everywhere. The only negative point is the mirors that snap and break and cost a bundle. I also added the full cabin and in winter, it fogs up and freezes. No problemo, next winter, I'll keep the windows open. It is really lots of fun.

      John Robinson how does the clutch engagement compare to the Polaris? I’ve driven a couple older Mavericks and always seem like they rev a little too high before engaging

    Love this SxS. One question. Why only 75HP? Did they go for reliability and low maintenance over power?

    • @1kukini

      Most likely, on the trails this is designed for, big horsepower is useless.

    One thing I didn't hear you comment on is the sound level of the engine. How does the sound levels compare to other SxS's? I like the look and specs of this SxS but if it's loud like some others, I'll pass. Riding for hours in a loud cockpit is slow torture. Can-am also had issues in their commander line with heat as well. Are those issues fixed in this model?
    Great review , best I've seen !

      Craig Hudson I’ve only had mine for 3 months but I can say it doesn’t seem to get as hot inside as people said it would. Most people I know have . I’ve also had a few people say they’re surprised how quiet it is as well. I myself have heard louder.

    Rocky Mtn, how is the noise level? I really dislike how loud the ones I've tried are. Kawa, Honda, Polaris... it seems you have to yell to communicate to your co-rider. Can't they make a quieter UTV/Side-by-side?

  • @earlfletcher4814
    @earlfletcher4814 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wish they would really talk more about the durability than what the machine has to offer like it's features. Because if it can't hold up over time it's not worth buying!!! I've heard the stock tie rods I really weak in the 800 cc not sure if that is true or not?

    I’m really interested in the 800cc trail but am curious if it ever feels underpowered at times? I ride Michigan trails. Will the 800 be fast enough to rip and have a good time?

    I am thinking about buying my first SxS. This is a great video. I live in MT where we are very width restricted. I also wanted to go duning at some point. Is this good for that as well? I would be getting the 1000. Do I need different tires for that?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're planning on getting the 1000cc then you should have no problem in the dunes. It's definitely worth looking into some sand paddles if you want to have the best experience in the sand dunes. It also might be worth looking into some wheel spacers to widen the stance a bit, especially since you wont have the 50" restriction in the dunes. Thanks - Josh

    There is no doubt a need for them ,and I'm glad can am is in this market. But with just a little more in a few areas and this machine could be 10× the machine it is now.
    I feel can am fell short in a few areas.

  • @georgeiriarte3566
    @georgeiriarte3566 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    When do you think that can am would have the rebates on this SXS ? Does the 800cc come with the full door or you have to buy it separate. Would it be worth the extra money to get the 1000cc in your opinion even though I ride only trails. Thank for your time

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It looks like the 800cc does not come with the full doors included, but you can purchase them separate. I personally think that it's worth the extra to go with the 1000cc machine. It's kind of one of those situations where if you need the extra juice, you've got it. Also your SMG (smiles per gallon) are greatly increased with the power of the 1000cc motor. Thanks! - Josh

    • @bigbluegpr
      @bigbluegpr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My buddy just bought a yellow 800. He bought the doors for the Mav Sport, which are wider than the Trails doors and guve a little more room in the cab.

  • @Tyleraversano
    @Tyleraversano 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did the cabin heat up a lot while riding? I know a lot of other sxs get hot on the inside.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it didn't. They designed the Trail to direct the heat from the radiator off of the firewall and out to the side of the machine. I was actually hoping that the cabin would heat up because it was pretty cold where we were riding, but it never did! Thanks - Josh

    How big of difference in gas mileage between the 800 and the 1000

  • @mikemercier8163
    @mikemercier8163 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    did you find that the 51hp 800cc was enough power to really run the trails and get through tough spots? artic cat runs abvout 63 hp, while polaris runs 75hp for the 50in class. price point are close between cat and can am but just not sure about the hp

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I found that it was plenty capable! I rode the 800cc version on a high elevation trail that ended up taking us through about a mile of 1 foot deep snow and the machine didn't have any issues getting through it in 4WD. We also went through lots of deep puddles and tighter mud trails that it handled just fine.
      Both the 1000cc and 800cc are great and super capable, and in my opinion I think it's worth the extra $ to go up to the 1000cc. It's a lot of fun when you want it to be, and still good for the tight and technical terrain. It all comes down to what works best for your needs and budget. Thanks for the comment! - Josh

    • @1kukini
      @1kukini 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mike Mercier While I don’t own a Maverick Trail, my Yamaha Wolverine R-Spec at 700cc and 45hp is plenty strong enough for the trails and the tough spots. I’m not looking to race anyone or going to beat a machine up trying to climb a mountain at 50 mph because of its big horsepower. I’m seriously thinking of adding at MavT to my stable and the 800 is my first choice. When your doing a 200 mile loop fuel consumption is definitely to be considered.

    How is the engine noise in the cab? I had an Arctic cat wildcat trail that was very loud.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It isn't abnormally loud. The stock exhaust is pretty tame. We were wearing helmets the whole time, so that did dampen some of the sound. So depending on if you do or not, your experience might be different. - Josh

  • @ttreb48
    @ttreb48 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    How does the 4X4 system work compared to Polaris and Arctic Cat? Do they still use the visco-lock system like their ATV's. It seems that this is been a problem for the can-am and not having true 4 wheel drive.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they use their Visco-Lok front differential on this machine. I didn't notice anything unusual and the 4x4 worked great on the terrain and trails that we were on in the video. Can-Am has been improving the Visco-Lok year after year, so we'll see how it does when we can really test it in some true rock crawling situations. If you get the DPS model, it does comes with a locking rear differential switch also. - Josh

      It's so funny to listen to people talk about how bad it is without ever driving one. It's a different way to drive that's all unless you strictly rock climb.

    • @curtisbull1583
      @curtisbull1583 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a 17 Can Am renegade that has the visco-lok, and believe me it still sucks in technical stuff. I doubt that this new Maverick Trail has any changes in the visco-lok from my 17 renegade 1000.
      This Renegade 1,000 is a blast to ride but in technical rock climbing and such my grizzly does much better with having a true front Locker.

      MARTIN WOOLDRIDGE ECU tuning I believe. All the same engine tho. The Maverick sport has the 1000r which is even higher hp than the outlander 1000r.

  • @upaginit

    I like this machine, but wonder why it’s choked off from 101hp

    • @reesemcgee5803
      @reesemcgee5803 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Upaginit 101 these things would be awesome with the 101 hp of the full size maverick!! Maybe it's because of the more narrow width? Could be easier to tip, that's my best gues...but then again they do make ATVs with more than 75 hp

    • @curtisbull1583
      @curtisbull1583 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question while you may not need all that horsepower on tight trails the extra horsepower would be nice for when using the machine in the more open type of scenery such as going down the road or sand dunes. Really pretty discouraging if you ask me. They have two engine options so why not make one of the options a high-horsepower Thrill Ride?

    These SxS will sell like hot buns. Lots of people have been caught in the hp war to later realise their monster SxS can't go anywhere in trails. Owners of pick-up truck with decent bed will also carry them without a trailer, just like it was with the first rzr 570/800.

      some people like you just don't seem to get it. You may not necessarily need more horsepower for the trails but it would be good to have more horsepower for when you're out on the open road or possibly in the sand dunes. It sucks to spend thousands of dollars on a machine and it only be good for one or two things. This machine is close to being good for a lot of things. And certainly one of the things they could improve on is more horsepower for when a guy wants to take it somewhere other than a tight Trail.

    • @jean-francoisberube710
      @jean-francoisberube710 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Curtis Bull It always depends on where you are from. Where i live in Canada, most trails are narrow and woods are thick. Most trails accept 60in, but it's not fun at all. Atv or 50inch are the way to go to have fun. Sure you a little restricted in the straights, but youre still having a blast most of the time. I mainly cross 50inch rzr and commanders when i go for a ride, so i am convinced these will sell like hot buns here. I also see a lot of people with big SxS on social media where i live who ask for large trails or open areas because they struggle everywhere they go with their 64in.
