Salute Keith. Rough week for my 2008 ML 350 104K Miles. My serpentine belt snapped. The belt went into my oil pan, cam shaft, some of the belt was lodged inside behind the large pulley. Locked up my alternator. Metal shavings from the alternator pulley in the engine bay. Smoke as well coming from under the hood. Hefty bill. Went to my mechanic. Not the stealership. I heard some noise coming from one of my pulleys earlier. I was actually going to the my mechanic a few days later in the week. This taught me a valuable lesson. It's not worth it, your car gives you signs. Take advantage. I lose some stripes as a car guy on this one. My ego is checked at the door. Thought I share this with eveyone. Don't procrastinate. illwills i feel your pain. That's really annoying that the belt snapped and did the damage that it did. Keep me posted as to what the mechanic says, finds. I've been there too where i hear a noise, ignore it and then boom! Major damage.
@@iRepairAutos Hi Keith. My Mechanic showed me parts of the serpentine belt in my oil Pan, I noticed the large pulley, there is a rubber lip on top, That was totally gone. So, my belt slide directly off the pulley. Once my old alternator was out. I saw the serpentine belt was fully wrapped over the pulley. It was a mess. OH EVERYONE Should check their Tran mission Pan. I have to change mine, and it is severely rusted. Living in the northeast. We should pay attention to this as well. We have snow and then salt from the ground can cause this.
@@illwills yes. The guide pulley doesn't have sealed bearings and will freeze at around 100k causing the belt to fly off when the plastic pulley melts result is catastrophic damage. Anything and everything. The belt was new in my case. Total loss 2003 e500
That’s an amazing fix. You saved me a ton of time and money. My 2011 E550 4matic radio was pure static no music. I reset it as you instructed and it works great and I didn’t lose my preset stations. So thank you!!
Thank you sooo much 🤘🤘i had the same static sound in my s class but 100 times louder, almost blowing out my ears because of its loudness. With this procedure i got it fixed after resetting 🤘🤘a million thank you 🤘🤘

1776 man you good! I have a 2008 s550 Mercedes and l broth it it had that static in thr radio and done change all the speakers and put another radio in and l still have that static! So my question to you what can l do to ratify this problem! Thanks in advance!
1776 thanks make 2014 ML350 has extremely annoying static coming out of the far back left speaker and your fix seems to have cleaned that up. Especially since the static was going on with radio off. It was driving myself wife and 4yr old NUTS! Thanks again!

Hi Keith, I have a 2007 GL450 Head unit comes on no problems, but no audio navi works cd player all but no sound. Any ides? Also where is the fuse for the amp?

I want everyone to know their options at a minimum. Know what's involved in repairs and if possible do certain things themselves. I often wonder how much money has been saved because of the channel.
@@iRepairAutos Hi Keith, I've invested in a pair of drive-up ramps and a trolley jack, multimeter and a substantial toolkit that I've built up over the years. Add to this the Haynes manual series and I have saved thousands. I would set about the equation as follows;
To start Labour costs, here in London, UK, a "cheap" local garage charges £70.00 ($89.94 US) per hour for labour, so even if you were to tag/rate each video with an estimated duration to complete time, e.g. 30, 60, 90 120 (minutes) that would show roughly how much labour charges are saved.
Secondly, the cost of diagnosing a fault as we know is both time-consuming and frustrating as well potentially costly. You can add a minimum of 30 minutes minimum automatically, per each video. (which garage won't add a "finders fee" not to mention charging for work that wasn't even done.)
Thirdly, your clear and methodical step by step instructions in the videos will save huge amounts of time when people actually go to work on the car, as they know what to expect before they even get there.
Then you can put a total hourly rate cost to each video and multiply it by $89.94 haha! that would give you an approximate total saving you are giving per video.

Keith...glad to see you up and healthy again! I have another problem....my 08 ml350 command display is stuck on the logo screen. It used to keep playing like this, but now it stopped and it won't even turn off even after the key is removed. I've been able to pull the fuse and get the display off, but would like some music playing again. Is this the head unit, or another bad SAM? I need you Sir! What should I do?
2008 GL450 radio speakers sound staticky or like they're blown but once the vehicle warms up stereo sounds fantastic any idea what module it might be I took the amp apart under the driver seat because it was wet under there at one time but I fixed all that and warmed it with a hair dryer but no change any idea what module would cause this I appreciate all your help you're awesome.

1776 Thank you! Great content as always! Could you please explain how to fix command display problem when horizontal lines appear on the screen? Will resetting the command as you've described in this video solve the screen lines problem, too? I have a 2007 GL550.
Are the horizontal lines always on the screen? When in navigation mode, am/fm mode, or only sometimes?
@@iRepairAutos This only happened a couple times in winter, but when this happens the screen is completely unreadable in any mode including the back-view camera. The problem did go away after restarting the car several times, but I've heard this is a widespread problem with MB Command monitors and usually gets worse with time until a Command unit replacement becomes necessary!
How about if the command keeps rebooting and the buttons does not work.
1776 I have a 2008 Mercedes ML350 and the screen will not start up at all, it is just stuck on the Mercedes-Benz Startup screen when you startup the car, how can I resolve this?

I ended up in the boot playing with the antenna which did help a tiny bit but its definitely interference.

Hi Keith. I have a 1999 CL500 with stock radio, Becker I believe. The Exact sound is coming from my radio only on the left channel. It doesnt matter if radio or CD or tape. That Exact static noise. What can I do? Reset that old stock radio?

@@iRepairAutos I got this old MB a couple months ago. The antenna tip was exposed to the elements and I put a new plastic shark fin cover on it, but it still only plays well on 1-2 strong stations. Thanks for your knowledge sharing.

1776 I'm having the same problem with 2008 Mercedes s550 l have a lots of static in my radio. I when to someone that do audio shop they end up playing me out of 500.00 dollars because they told me that l needed to change the big long speaker in the back window. But that didn't solve the problem because l still have the same problem plus l have lost 500.00 dollars.
I’ve tried this several times and it didn’t work. Balance, fader and sound profile resets but still have presets. This is in a ‘07 E320. All static and no audio on any input.
I have a 2008 E350 does this work for that class as well? because my radio and CD player has a lot of static ,its like the channels are fading out all I hear is static. My radio and cd player was working fine idk what happened to it. I even checked certain fuses that didn't work, any help?

Biggest suspect is your stereo amp. They are prone to burning out from water damage

Before that we got to make sure the amp is truly dead. I would pull the fuse and see if it's good. Then put the fuse back in after 5 minutes. With that said, it's probably easier to find a used one online at the famous auction sites.

It's possible. What issues are you having with bluetooth?
Sometimes the convo get staticky and the person you’re talking to can hear you. I have switch to the phone 📲 to continue the convo

you didnt even check the sound on the same station as before when the static was present 95.1 had static, but you go back to a different channel once you cleared your system. I bet 95.1 still had static on it. Waste of 8 minutes.
