I'm here because of tv girl and i'm so happy to be. I listened to all of this and i'm literally bawling. I'll for sure recommend this to someone too, because this story is so underrated and deserves to be looked at more, truly. This story writing was so moving.
NOOO HE WAS AN UNDERCOVER SPY SENT TO TEST HER LOYALTY AND TO SEE IF SHE WOULD BETRAY HER COUNTRY BUT HE FELL IN LOVE WITH HER EUEUEUEUEEUUE this is actually awful. i’m so sad.
“you know nothing about me, youve known me only three weeks…” “three weeks? catherine ive known you all my life…” “all your life?” “its true, ive seen you in a thousand plays… read you in as many books.. well ive heard beautiful music, ive thought she’d like that, ive looked at flowers and known that one day id give them to you….” 9:22
Yes, TV Girl did sample text and parts of this old-time radio episode itself in the songs "The Getaway" (2014) and "Cigarettes Out the Window" (2016). This was an audition episode for the radio series "Dangerously Yours", recorded June 20, 1944. I added a comment to this Reddit post, www.reddit.com/r/tvgirl/comments/gkeeqm/comment/hvy9r0r/.
Another old-time radio episode they used is from the series Crime Classics, titled "The Torment of Henrietta Robinson, and Why She Killed" th-cam.com/video/Bna1c2C7qL4/w-d-xo.html. It was used in "Death of a Party Girl".
@@lalisa3082 I think "Lovers Rock" (and "Birds Don't Sing") used a different episode from the same series, at least according to the comments there. th-cam.com/video/cbRCK6jZzqE/w-d-xo.html.

Absolutely beautiful storytelling. Quite a unique one at that. I never get to see and kind of sad romance story's that are portrayed in a loving manor. Not only does it include genuine love, but has secrets, lies, passion, and 10/10 writing. I wish there were more story's like this, simple but mesmerizing.
I love so much their voices and dialogues, this piece is very touching, emotional and delicate, really dear to me in 7:45 is the most beautiful part for me, I love how he love her and how he is so dramatic in way that he told her about his love.
honestly, I must admit. I was absolutely delighted to finally listen to this wonderful piece. However, I soon was appalled at thee ending despite already being aware of the plot. I will forever hold Miss Katherine and Sir Rudolph in my heart. It was a splendid piece to listen to, though I do not believe love like this, still continues to exist. One may only dream of such love. This may be one of the few things I hold dearest to my heart. Despite the short length, it made a huge impact on my being. Perhaps I should stare out of my melancholy window and decide if this life is still worth living.
@@lillielavender652 Rudolph was an undercover spy hired by Mr. Kolenkhov. (Mr Kolenkhov is Katherine's boss) Katherine was being tested by Mr Kolenkhov to see if Katherine is loyal and could be trusted.

I replied with this elsewhere in the comments for this episode: This series was renamed Matinee Theater in October 1944, and trended even more to the romance side (mainly remakes of classic novels, along with some contemporary books and movies). If you go to the main page of our channel - www.youtube.com/@otrr - there's a section for Drama & Romance that should have some other shows somewhat similar to this.

CATHERINE: You can do anything you please, Rudolph! But you have very little time to do it in.
RUDOLPH: You mean you're actually going to kill me?
CATHERINE: I mean just that.
RUDOLPH: Well, go ahead.
CATHERINE: I'll do this my own way. Look, you already know my purpose in being here. Now you will either give me my information, or I will kill you.
CATHERINE: You have until 9' o'clock.
RUDOLPH: You won't do it. You can't pull the trigger. YOU CAN'T PULL IT BECAUSE YOU LOVE ME. IT TAKES A VERY BRAVE AND A VERY COLD WOMAN TO DO THAT CATHERINE. I DON'T THINK YOU CAN! Isn't it true? Isn't that why you're waiting?
CATHERINE: That's not true!
RUDOLPH: Or is it that you want to watch your victim? You want my heart to constrict with agony, my hands to shake, YOU WANT ME TO PLEAD FOR MY LIFE SO YOU CAN MAKE A GENEROUS GESTURE AND SPARE ME! Sorry, Catherine, I don't seem to be in the mood for prayers tonight.

RUDOLPH: You tried to deceive me.
CATHERINE: I'm tired of listening to you!
RUDOLPH: You gave me your heart you know! You'd like me to hand it back, whole again. But I won't. You'll live a long time yet, Catherine, an eternity without me. You will look into the faces of passersby, hoping for something that will, for an instant, bring me back to you. You will find moonlit nights strangely empty. because, when you call my name through them, there will be no answer. CATHERINE: You dare talk of bravery?
RUDOLPH: What else do we have to talk about, Catherine? For me, there will never be another woman but you. But for my heart, there is another love that must come before you, my country. You're so still, your face is like ice. What are you thinking of, Catherine?
CATHERINE: What does anything you say matter? You betrayed me with words. What good are words? Your heart is breaking. If I fail now, i should deserve to die. You tricked me into loving you.
RODOLPH: Aren’t you forgetting you came here for the same purpose?
CATHERINE: I couldn't betray you, I tried to tell you, you said you already knew! I was as honest as I knew how to be.
RUDOLPH: Do you think I wanted to love you? Knowing where you came from and what your mission was?! Don't you suppose every hour we were together I was thinking “she’s just pretending” ?!
CATHERINE: I wasnt! I loved you!
RUDOLPH:And I loved you so much I let you pretend. Because, you brought something to my days i couldnt stand the thought of losing. Listen to your heart catherine. Feel it pounding.
CATHERINE: Your time is up.
RUDOLPH:In my last words, I Love you catherine.
CATHERINE: ARE YOU DETERMINED TO DIE WITH A LIE ON YOUR LIPS?!

RUDOLPH:I…Love you catherine..
CATHERINE: Oh god..

I love so much their voices and dialogues, this piece is very touching, emotional and delicate, really dear to me
in 7:45 is the most beautiful part for me, I love how he love her and how he is so dramatic in way that he told her about his love.

honestly, I must admit.
Tbh I couldn't be bothered to write completely formal so I could've done better but it's whatever, you get my point

Please someone explain the plot to me

Well there are other episodes, you could listen to them. They’re all from “dangerously yours” I haven’t listened to all of them but the ones I’ve listened to they’re all about love
@@rey8711 mind recommending me some of the best ones from the playlist, because I have listen to some of them but they haven’t hit the mark like this one when it comes to the dialogue.
I replied with this elsewhere in the comments for this episode:
This series was renamed Matinee Theater in October 1944, and trended even more to the romance side (mainly remakes of classic novels, along with some contemporary books and movies).
If you go to the main page of our channel - www.youtube.com/@otrr - there's a section for Drama & Romance that should have some other shows somewhat similar to this.
