The actors union polices names so that's why you see say Samuel L Jackson as there was already a Samuel Jackson. So yes it is a young Andrew Sachs. You'll also find him here as Father Brown and Dr. John Watson. Like many good comedies they used proper actors. One of the other protagonists played the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham on tv.

I so wanted to like this. I mean, the idea of the story is a good one. However, the script was quite awful and unfortunately so was most of the acting. Could not stop listening to this wonderful story more like this please
The BBC period of radio dramas, thank you very much
they still broadcast them on R3 and R4, but not as often as in the past.
Absolutely loved this theme, very well written and acted by superb actors of the era. More of this please. 🎉🎉
Another excellent story. Really enjoyed it and the novel theme. Thank you

I always enjoy the voice of Alan Wheatley a radio actor going back to the 1930s.
Cue the music and the men in green....😚
The best Sheriff of Nottingham .!
I love Alan Rickman but Alan
Wheatley just nails it for me.
The definitive Sheriff of Nottingham.

Your perception is quite accurate. This is a very well written description of when you hear the spirit you will find your answer ;

The picture used here of Tower Bridge is very misleading...
The image of Tower Bridge is clickbait, unconnected with the play
