There is no goat of any sport that has lost more than they won. Every goat also had to repeatedly over come adversity. No goat recruited all the best players to play with them. Goats live for adversity. They love competition. Lebron hates competition, it gives him a headache and makes him quit

The ‘98 series alone proves why Jordan is the undisputed goat. And to me it’s one of the best series performances ever. At 35 and playing without pippen for half the season jordan led the bulls who were the oldest team in the league and one of the worst ranked offensive supporting casts ever, to a 62 and 20 record while he led the league in scoring, made the first team all defense and won the mvp. He went to win the championship facing the Utah jazz who at the time had the greatest power forward ever and one of the greatest pgs ever that beat the Hakeem, drexler and Barkley rockets and swept the Shaq lakers in the playoffs. He did that with pippen struggling with back injuries that final series especially in that crucial game 6 . He single-handedly took that team on his back yet people talk about how lebron “carries franchises” and “bum squads” to the finals

Jordan may of got beaten down hard by those teams in his early years, 3 things we can say for sure.
    1. He had 0 all stars on his team. (As Skap noted)
    2. He still perform amazing in those series, even though he was beaten down.
We live in a society that want instant gratification and always take the easy way out. A wise man once said “Nothing in this world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty”. Hence this last one is the defining factor for me.

you know from my perspective, even though he lost those series Jeff himself was never beaten.... i think in every series lost he averaged like 40 to 45 a game, I know for James his average in lost ply off series is much less, so I've had to come to terms w/the possibility that if he did have better plyers back then like say for instance a prime Ice Man George Gervin he probably would have done better or maybe even gotten passed the early Pistons.. I dn't see the Celtics though they were just way to deep to beat and had a Larry Bird before his back injury that changed everything for him....

      2017-18 lakers. 35-47
2018-19 lakers were 20-14 when LeBron James got injured on Christmas day.
As you can see When LeBron James joins a team, the team improves more than Michael Jordan and when LeBron James leaves a team, the team always goes into the tank.
Michael Jordan, excluding the 94-97 seasons, when the NBA moved the three point line to 22 feet, was a career 28% three point shooter. LeBron James is a career 34% three point shooter
Michael Jordan was a great defensive player, in an Era where you could handcheck. Playing defense is much easier when you can handcheck. For nearly 6'9 250 LeBron James' entire career he wasn't afforded the opportunity to handcheck.
THE EVIDENCE IS CLEAR..LEBRON JAMES IS THE GOAT!!!!!
      I have added a Postscript
So many have replied, that LeBron james didn't make the playoffs his first two years and Jordan did. What they fail to say is, in 1985, 16 of 23 teams made the playoffs. In 2004, 16 of 29 teams made the playoffs. It was MUCH EASIER Making the playoffs in 1985. Also, I don't know, possibly, maybe, Jordan had a HUGE ADVANTAGE considering he played three years of college basketball and LeBron James was 19 years old, and straight out of high school

He might of had a great performance in the series, but to be the goat is to have the mental to push for that extra inch when the pressures on the most. Kyrie took the last clutch shot because Tyonn Lue looked at LeBron and knew he wasn't there mentally to take it (he said in an interview) whether from exhaustion or something else, he called the last play for Kyrie. You can't be called the Goat when you aren't even involved in the final play for the chip. And yes Jordan did pass the ball two times for the final shot (Pax, Kerr) those were option plays based on the defense not a iso play for Kyrie like in LeBron case. Bron fans just can't admit he's great but not goat material, and that's OK.

All that you need to know is the 2011 Finals. Lebron was playing on the super team of his own creation. They were the favourites in the finals (barely), and Lebron was supposed to be the best player out of all the players on the floor. He felt so confident in winning that he thought he could mock his opponent's illness. And they lost. And Lebron was maybe the fifth or sixth best player in the series. That is not something that the Greatest Player of All Time can do in their career. That ends all debate for all time.

Does ONE series decide a player's 20 year career? So is Malone a terrible player based off his choking performance in the 97 NBA Finals? Steph Curry isn't great because he choked during the 2019 NBA Finals? Larry dropped 15 15 and 7 on an inefficient 46 TS. Closeout game 6 1996 NBA Finals, Mike shot 5/19 with 12 Freethrows. Let's not forget TRAGIC JOHNSON was a thing too.
Greats can choke at times and play poorly, it's about how they bounce back. Since then LeBron has won 4 titles and came back from a 3-1 defecit. LeBron averages 34, 10, and 8 in elimination games for his career. Let's not go too hard on James when he's great too.

In the early years (from '86 to '90), when Jordan was basically playing by himself and getting eliminated by Celtics and Pistons, here are his averages during those playoff series:
    - 1986 ECR1 vs Celtics: 43.6 PPG (he set an all-time NBA record by scoring 63 points in a playoff game, against '86 Celtics!!!)
    - 1987 ECR1 vs Celtics: 35.6 PPG
    - 1988 ECR1 vs Cavaliers: 45.2 PPG
    - 1988 ECR2 vs Pistons: 27.4 PPG
    - 1989 ECR1 vs Cavaliers: 40 PPG
    - 1989 ECSF vs Knicks: 35.6 PPG
    - 1989 ECF vs Pistons: 29.6 PPG
    - 1990 ECR1 vs Bucks: 36.7 PPG
    - 1990 ECSF vs 76ers: 43 PPG
    - 1990 ECF vs Pistons: 32.1 PPG
Obviously he did all he could, then once he got another all-star on his team (Pippen) and played a full season, he never again DIDN'T win the championship in 6 games or less. Unbelievable.

"Jordan's competition wasn't as good as LeBron's" argument is so stupid, because when MJ played the game was far more physical and defenses were much greater, so even if Jordan played against slightly lesser competition (which is very debatable), it was still much harder to dominate the game then than it is now. In the 80s and 90s, average team score was ~ 90-95 points, today it's ~ 115-120 points, and Jordan still averaged OVER 30 PPG, and over 33 PPG in the playoffs and Finals series. Not to mention, he was simultaneously one of the best defenders in the world. If Jordan played today, against this "superior competition," he would undoubtedly average over 40 PPG, while simultaneously being one of the best defenders in the world. Let that sink in...

In Finals, he averaged 33,5 PPG, winning, as we all know, 6 Finals MVPs and never even allowing a game 7. That's inhuman

Not only did Jordan face better teams during his championship years, but he also had to play in a much tougher NBA in which a degree of physical contact was allowed. This smash mouth environment gave birth to the Bad Boy Detroit Pistons who played a brand of hard knock street basketball that would make modern NBA players run for cover. The Pistons won back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990 by literally beating up players on opposing teams.
Jordan had to deal with hard fouls and hand checking, both of which were removed from the game in 2004. Lebron's longevity is likely the result of his body not taking the physical beating 1990s players were accustomed to. It is much easier to score in Lebron's era than it was during Jordan's time. Also, the 3-point shot has become more important than working the paint and fighting for close range shots and lay ups. The center was more dominant in Jordan's era. Nowadays centers want to play like point guards leaving the basket unprotected a majority of the time.
By the way, the NBA removed hand checking because players were having a difficult time generating offense from the perimeter. Jordan was so good that without hand checking, he would have destroyed defenses and attacked the basket at will on every possession. Jordan was so good the Pistons had to create so-called "Jordan Rules." Not a single team has had to create a special game plan to defend against Lebron. Just play him like you would any other player. The media hacks and LBJ fanboys need to shut the hell up.
There is no debate. Michael Jordan is the GOAT. He is a true leader who made his teammates better. The Bulls were trash when he arrived in 1984. Before his rookie season was over attendance went up and eventually the team found themselves playing to record setting crowds. Jordan grinded his way to the top and carried the Bulls with him. Lebron lacked the leadership to make the Cavilers better, so he left and joined a super team. It's like buying shark cards and using cheat mods in GTA Online to get ahead.
