- Reviewing the HasLab release of The Vintage Collection The Razor Crest. This was a crowd funded project from Hasbro where orders opened up in September 2020 needing 6,000 units sold before this vehicle went into production. The Razor Crest started shipping in Feb 2022. Included with the Razor Crest is a 3 3/4” The Mandalorian action figure with a soft goods cape
All 5 tiers of stretch goals were also unlocked…

Nice to be back-ish 😀. It will be a bit before I can get back to two videos a week but I’m still trying to get content out there. Hopefully I won’t have such a long gap again, this one took some time to make.

I wish this vehicle could have been put up on shelves. This would have been the market right here at a decent retail price. All Hasbro has to do is get the figures out into the market maybe a few cases of figures that Everyone is going to want, stock the pegs again & then get a few cases of this ship like Three or four of these & put them on the shelf it's not that hard. Retail today is open for that stuff. You don't need to online back a project up because it's a never before seen made vehicle. Hasbro acts like they've never done this thing when in the past THEY produced over a hundred & thousands of different vehicles many times. They re packaged the original Kenner vehicles a few times, they went all out with that legacy falcon, they made newer ground vehicles & re done starfighter ships. They did everything out of the book. Star wars was a king of the iful tower of retail. Every vehicle & character you could ever want was right there. Until they started downgrading. This ship is like a mini sized but rebooted restart for the modern collection & I say modern because it's supposed to be the modern collection and Hasbro screwed up on that logo. They called it the vintage collection when now you're redoing vintage Kenner re releases of older sculpts in the retro collection & the retro collection is wrong too. If the retro collection is a consistent of vintage vs modern. Modern is the modern collection, retro collection would be the 90's action figures for instance those are the true Retro collection figures from retro collection. The potf 2 action figures.
The vintage collection is a collection about vintage. Obviously referring to the vintage Kenner re releases. Like farm boy Luke, Han Solo, Yoda, princess Leia, Chewbacca, boba Fett, stormtrooper, bespin Luke, hoth Leia, lando calrissian, those guys are all vintage. They are vintage because they are re released straight from the people that stuck a stake through Kenner's cold black dead beating heart. And they're still doing it. You don't see re issues like the original millennium falcon being in the retro/ vintage collection because they already done that already with the 2004 release & the x wing & tie fighter.
The redone Darth Vader tie fighter from power of the force 2 is not the same ship as the vintage one is from 1978. They're both different molds from two different decades in separate centuries of the vintage - retro era. Modern would be the present day such as now for a matter because you're still at it. You're making toys in the modern age. The vintage collection has to be changed to the retro collection and the retro collection needs to be left alone to the 1990's sculpts and be layed to history because it's very less to happen Hasbro is going to redo those next (Please don't Hasbro, you're ruining the brand just by trying to confuse these lines.) They need to get that typo banner fixed & changed.
If they can switch around the vintage collection to the re released Kenner sculpts I'm also referring to this being done with the Jedi wave that may come up soon. They should also change the logo at the bottom from Kenner on the card to Hasbro Because Kenner is no longer in business hasn't been for yrs. They can make an exception with the original Kenner sculpts having that logo on the cards because they're by Kenner & the original owners but Hasbro has to start taking responsibility that every star wars action figure they do with multiple points of articulation is not what Kenner would do. That's g.i Joe perspective not star wars. The new banner should be called "The Modern collection" & the vintage stays with the original Vintage era stuff from the 80's & 70's. That's all vintage not modern.
& Same goes for retro. Retro is riced only to the 90's not 80's stuff with it.
& I have no idea what Hasbro is thinking calling the Mandalorian Retro that is not retro that is modern. The Mandalorian never existed in the 90's or 80's for that matter sure Boba Fett was around & he was popular but he wasn't called a Mandalorian that didn't happen til the Knights of the old republic came out along with the progression of the expanded universe. Boba Fett was just known for as a bounty hunter not a Mandalorian. Sure he got a backstory in attack of the clones 2002 but that's not his original backstory his original origins came before attack of the clones.
Obviously he was a white guy with a white beard his ears looked like an elf. This is a reference to the original actor who played him who is long deceased. Jeremy bulloch. Im sure they meant the Vintage collection What if? Kenner made the Mandalorian wave. Instead of Hasbro blankly putting "retro collection Mandalorian". That typo is really damaged
That doesn't sound right.
And I really don't want any information to be heard about Hasbro is going back and redoing the 90's figures all over again. And if they do what're they gonna call that line? Oh the golden goose line from before Kenner got staked with a stake to the heart by Hasbro. That's like you're future self going back to the time after you regret almost everything you've done only to witness you're greatest big mistake happen in front of you only to push yourself out of the way & prevent that mistake changing history. So what's Hasbro gonna do? Go back to the time when they put a stake to Kenner's heart then future Hasbro pushes past Hasbro away & pulls the stake out of Kenner? Then past Hasbro fights future Hasbro & past Hasbro ends up putting the stake back in. That sounds really stupid to me. You can't make progress with what you've already done. You can only do what you're doing with modern & keep vintage as vintage.
But you can't go in between the lines between 1999 & 2001 & say I wanna prevent the pursuing of our company future. It was in the yr 2000 or 2001 Hasbro took over from Kenner. They can't redo the 90's figures it's impossible & will never happen due to the molds from yrs and yrs ago being outdated. Those sculpts didn't even succeed the first time what makes Hasbro think they'll do it again? If they redo them. It's not gonna happen it never will.

Great in depth review Erin! (I don't know if anyone has mentioned already, but I believe the drum magazine accessory in the gun cabinet is for the large blaster rifle, like the one Cara Dune uses, I wonder if it actually clips into it, not that I expect you to try to pull those back out to find out. LOL) Thanks for taking the time to show every detail, for those of us who make never get a Razor Crest!

Brilliant review of the Razor Crest. I have watched a fair few and this is by far the most detailed and thorough I have seen. Visually, technically and also descriptively all aspects of this video were perfect! I loved some of the set up shots you did of Mando in and around the ship. Excellent work, thanks and this deserves way more views!
Oh my God! This is the most detailed vehicle I have seen! I was surprised about the Salve 1 vintage version which was huge and incredibly detailed, but this… this is amazing!

Very comprehensive review, Erin. I did order one and absolutely love it, and yes it’s a great companion piece to the Barge. Fwiw, I still haven’t opened my carded figures as I want to see if they get reissued in some other format like Yakface. Btw, Grogu’s left hand was remolded to include the knob. Take care! 👍

I wanted to like this so much much, but honestly - I hate it. The landing gear is the worst. The designer said they can't mechanically get it to work, which is absolute bullshit. If Hasbro can make giant transforming planets, they can make working landing gear. Not having pegs on the bags to lock them in place is bullshit too. The rear gun is way too stiff. Not being able to put the ship on the base with the landing gear on is an unacceptable oversight for a project like this. Lastly, not having space in the bunk for a figure is wank. So many fails for an expensive toy. Sold mine.
Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy it as much. Honestly I didn’t even try to put it on the stand with the landing gear attached so I didn’t realize that. Sadly for such a large vehicle already I have to say just a little bit larger would have helped give some space in the back. Even if it was just an extra inch. Fair point on the bags. Personally I like the hook system they went with keeping the aesthetics of the bags and wall a bit cleaner. The trade off though I suppose is they can fall off easier.
....and quickly Disney got rid of it and made it unimportant.
