    Most monologue demos sound like the thing ate an ashtray and is farting it into the recorder. Thanks for showing that this can sound good.

    It's my first synth. And every time I check a random video on TH-cam I find something very cool and interesting. The first sequence you make is really cool.

    Great session especially from 7.00 minutes - great sound. I was looking for a synth for my volcas - one guy persistently offered me his almost new monologue, he urgently needed money - I watched your videos and could not resist - now the one red monologue is on the way to me. You are great at playing and inspiring

    Sounds cool. I know you can record motions like instant octave switching with that sequencer, like drop a low bass and it sounds pretty awesome. It's kind of like a glide. There's a guy on TH-cam that does it and and I can't remember his channel damn it!

    • @tarikkeskin
      @tarikkeskin  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you can automate the octave (or say coarse) of VCO2. Not an option for VCO1 though.

    Great vid! I have one and I can‘t figure out how you go to double time at the beginning when the pattern runs at 8ths and then you play in 16ths (I think). How???

    • @tarikkeskin
      @tarikkeskin  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The sequencer is playing 16th notes at about 120bpm. I can't exactly point out what you are referring to by "double time", can you explain more?

  • @lensw0rld633

  • @valdiskrebs566

    Nice demo and sounds! How did you sync the Monologue to your iPad/DM1?

    • @tarikkeskin
      @tarikkeskin  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks ! I did not, they aren't synced. I play them both manually. I know this doesn't make sense and sounds like old skool DJ stuff but, it was just more practical.
      To sync them there are two options: One is over your DAW. Connecting the Monologue via USB and connecting the iPad via iRig Midi. You can choose this option if your soundcard has only one midi input. Second option is, again with iRig, use the "Midi Thru" port of the iRig and assign the Monologue as the master controller. Basically the Monologue would route to Midi In on the iRig, and Midi Thru from iRig goes to iPad. This second option you can sync them without any computers, and the third option is that adding Midi Out > Soundcard Midi In routing to the second option, to have the second option also with DAW...

    • @tarikkeskin
      @tarikkeskin  ปีที่แล้ว

      You just play the sequencer on top of a drum machine or a sample from your DAW, It's simple actually. You can create a basic sequence just using octave notes actually, the important thing is how to edit it.

    I’ve never used a synth before but I’ve been thinking about adding one to my band. So far these guys look like the best to get for a beginner. Cool sounds. How long did it take you discover how to reach all these different sounds?

    • @tarikkeskin
      @tarikkeskin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, it took me about three weeks to get familiar with this. And another month to master it. But I knew about synths before, it's not my first synth. But this thing is just practical it has lots of shortcuts to cool things.

    Great video - love the jam at the end. What’s going on with the filtered / pitched noise there? How are you doing that?

    • @tarikkeskin
      @tarikkeskin  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you. It is because you can program four parameters to each of the sixteen steps of the Monologue's sequencer. So like for example in steps 5 and 13, I program the VCO2 to have the noise waveform particularly in steps 5 and 13. So maybe some accents or other effects on other steps and so on.

    I make dub and reggae music and am looking for a synth that can deliver deep, round and fat sounds. Would u recommend the monologue for this? thanks.

    • @tarikkeskin
      @tarikkeskin  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Monologue in my opinion, is a versatile synth, however, it has a slight tendence to delivering bass sounds. The filter is seriously good compared to a entry-level synth. You'll get tons of resonance, great resonance that builds up good deep sounds. In this video check out around 6:30. I crank up the resonance a lot, actually that is a resonant patch, I mean it relies on both VCOs and the filter itself actually. You may think of it like this: This has three VCOs actually, one being the filter. The filter can self resonate and delivers a sine wave. Please check that guys video to understand it: th-cam.com/video/HX2ytAd8pMI/w-d-xo.html

  • @joebaf
    @joebaf 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    So did you just put the 2 (drums and monolgue) in the same bpm? im asking because its hard to do this with volca keys. The monologue shows u the tempo that u are playing?

    • @tarikkeskin
      @tarikkeskin  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, they are the same bpm as Monologue can show on it's screen the bpm. With Volca it's barely possible because you have no indication of bpm, however Volca has the bpm in increments of one, which means it wouldn't set a bpm like 123,47. So it's not impossible but difficult to beatmatch with other stuff. But hey, DJ's used to beatmatch different records by hand, putting stickers on vinyls.
      There is a moment at 7:27 btw where I miss the beat. It's not always easy not using a sync cable.

    Do I need a Subwoofer for this synth?

    • @tarikkeskin
      @tarikkeskin  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I observed, the sound it makes can go well below 20hz so yeah a sub would do good about that. It's incredible that the wave shape is still solid at those frequencies, sound is very clear.
