  • This is BY FAR the most beautiful run I have ever encountered while skiing. The endless sea of trees, the almost knee-deep powder in some places, the impeccable yet imposing Vasquez Cirque in the background the entire time. It is probably unsurprising that the name translates to "Beautiful Forest" in French, though as a French speaker I've never heard fourche used in that context.
Any expert or Winter Park local is probably in agony watching me avoid most of the pockets of untouched powder, but this was my first time back here and I thought I'd play it safe and get familiar with where the trail goes. I will absolutely be coming back to hit this later in the season, perhaps with a more exciting line than just sticking to the easiest way down!
While I mentioned Calypso was probably more fun since I was more comfortable with the pitch and tree spacing, I genuinely don't think I can ever match the pure beauty and power of this trail from anywhere within at least a 3 hour's drive from Denver.
Advice: While I held off from going too far into the woods this time, there are plenty of opportunities to go further off the beaten path in search of powder stashes, of course at the cost of leaving the easiest and most visible way down. I would recommend staying near the main tracks the first time you do this run just to get a feel for it. The way I took isn't particularly challenging although it gets a bit steep before the Upper Egress runout.
    Overall Difficulty: 6/10
    Relative Difficulty (Diamond): 3/10
Accessibility Rating: 4/10 (Can only be reached from one lift with a super long traverse)
Open Trail Index: 2/10 (Often takes a while to open after much of neighboring terrain is filled in)
Enjoyment Rating: 10/10 (Astonishing view and super good snow!!!)
