Original Movie: M3GAN - บันเทิง
So fun fact! M3gan was actually rated r but after the dance scene went viral on tiktok, the studio knew that this movie would make more money if it was suited for younger audiences so that cut out most of the gore and made it pg-13! The rated r version is available on streaming now!
Oh thank god! I never knew that. I liked the movie as a creepy story but I always wished there was more horror. I'll have to check it out!
Rated R version could pass as pg 13 haha
@@JonahG-wv5kd Yeah our society is getting pretty weak on what it considers extreme as far as movies. I wouldn't be surprised if we regress back to the "video nasties" days if directors actually wanted to make some classic horror again.
The rated R version is still tame, really wish this was more brutal. But it was still a really fun movie and i remember it being funny how many people didn’t catch on that this movie was meant to be funny and were using “it’s more funny than scary” as a reason to bash on it.
She was watching the Unrated/R version.
The "running on all fours" bit came about because the little girl who plays Megan physically is a dancer. During rehearsals one night her mum sent the director a video of her doing it in their living room with a text that just said "Amie's just worked out that she can do this, is it something you could use in the film?" and he was just "hell yeah!"
That little girl deserved several awards for her performance. Every iconic move Megan did was done by her for reals, including that reverse kipup she did with only the need of a single guide wire for balance. If I recall, the dance scene wasn't initially scripted, but because she was a dancer and was goofing around off camera in costume the director liked it and shot the scene initially as a gag, but then decided to keep it in and it wound up being perhaps the most iconic moment of the entire movie.
It also makes sense in universe. M3GAn goes down on all fours because quadrupedal robots can move faster and change directions far easier than bipedal ones in real life.
Happy Death Day is another horror that is hilarious. It's also just a fun story with some sweet moments. Definitely worth putting on a list.
i love these movies
Eh. I'm tired of this offensive pathetic weak bs rated as horror.
@@alricaneshama It's horror comedy, and frankly, it's the best thing to come out of the horror genre since the 90's. You sound like a 12 year old who watched a behind the scenes about The Exorcist. Pure chuunibyou cringe. You're on the internet. You have free access to horror so cursed it can give you a mental illness. You wouldn't even be able to handle Faces of Death. Poser.
@@alricaneshama Tired? Just sleep it off man. Works for me
"It's not a horror movie! It's campy!" I would argue there are PLENTY of campy horror movies out there, and honestly, they're fantastic. The two genres are NOT mutually exclusive.
Absolutely
Evil Dead any one?
I was very confused by this too! Campy horror is like, a thing lol this movie is such a fun send up to those and is a straight up comedy horror film.
@@TheStealth128 Groovy.
@@marsalien4 Which parts are comedy?
Fun fact: M3gan became so popular that he started a Twitter feud with Chucky. I'm not making this up, that really happened.
The episode of Chucky lol
I thought it got popular because of the viral dances
@@jeasysilva4255 You are correct. Then was the cosplay. Finally the beef (coming later).
@@jeasysilva4255 After that Wednesday, and Abigail pull the same thing, and both became popular joining M3GAN
m3gan is a girl??
M3GAN was totally intended to be a Comedy/Horror movie, and they hit the tone very well. It's an incredibly difficult thing to pull off and they really did. Great movie! I can't wait for the sequel!
Brandon was the scariest part of this movie.
Props to the actress who performed all of M3gan's stunts. She actually pulled off the animal run and the standing from a prone position stunt unaided.
She also plays a part-monkey girl in Sweet Tooth and gets to do some moves in that role too
the running on all fours isn't hard to do, but the standing thing was pretty impressive
@@tadcooper9733 It is actually very hard to do and to make it look correct. Have you actually tried it?
@@sarkaztik3228 Yes, I've done it a lot. Mostly when I was a kid/teen. I'm 32 and still can do it.

I remember when I saw this in theaters, and when the little girl slap the aunt, someone in the audience yelled “oh, no, she didn’t!!!” sounding like she was personally offended, and the entire theater bursted out laughing lol
I watched this movie at home w a bunch of people and we had this exact same reaction lol
It was an adult black woman that said it. We all know.
Yeah this isn't a straight horror movie, it's more of a satirical dark comedy/horror. It has fun with it!
There is no such thing as straight horror movie. There are Slashers, Splatters, Supernatural, Psychological, Found footage, horror thriller, horror comedy, body horrror, etc
I loved how instead of M3gan being purely evil like Chucky, you feel for her gradually realizing _My creator is a really terrible parent_ 😂
"It's not a horror movie! It's campy!" yeaaaaaaah, that describes at least half of the genre
M3GAN wasn’t what anybody expected. That movie was better than it had any right to be.
Lisa Frankenstein is another campy horror comedy movie you should check out. It's written by Diablo Cody who wrote Juno and Jennifer's Body and directed by Zelda Williams, the daughter of Robin Williams. According to Diablo, Lisa Frankenstein actually takes place in the same universe as Jennifer's Body.
Natalie needs to react to this and The Black Phone next.
*This movie was surprisingly great!*
M3gan!
Horror movies don't need to be innately terrifying.. this one was pretty obvious it'd be Horror/Comedy in the trailers, so I knew to expect it to be super campy
Somehow my favorite part of this entire movie is just that heart to heart Gemma and Cady finally have. It's a beautiful scene about coming to terms with grief and a horror movie about an evil doll was the las place I expected it. "When Megan is around I don't feel like this." "But you *should* feel like this." is such a heavy line.
🤡
This movie wasn't really sold as a horror movie. The fact that it was entertaining and sort of leaned into horror tropes for fun rather than scariness.
This movie was hilarious. 😂 when she started signing Titanium the whole theater lost it.
I’m surprised that didn’t make it in the reaction video. Easily one of the best parts 😂
M3GAN 2.0 is in development for June 27, 2025.
"The intro"😂😂🤣🤣
Period. 😂😂😂❤
I've always thought the writers for this one got together and said, "ok, so people seemed to generally like Chucky 2019, but didn't like Chucky being an AI instead of a possessed doll. So how about we just take that story and make a new character for it?"
If you have a smart home that doesn't include a switch to physically turn the lights on and off you are doing it wrong 🤣
Those McGraw kids are great young actresses. Violet is excellent keeping up with the tone of this wackiness (as well as her work in Doctor Sleep, Hill House, and Black Widow) and her sister Madeleine is great in “The Black Phone.”
I'm waiting for Natalie to react to The Black Phone.
She's not using chemicals on the neighbor, it a water pressure gun, if it can remove grime and paint from concrete and bricks, imagine what it would do to flesh.
I used to work for B&Q and we had a Karcher rep come to our store to demonstrate their range of pressure washers and one of the warnings he gave was if the washer was on it's highest setting it could cut through skin.
No chemicals needed. 3500 PSI pressure will rip your skin off.
im telling the feds that you know that
@@eKko0 youd have to report every white dad with a 500 PSI pressure hose then lol
As soon as the opening started with the toy ad, I knew what the director was going for...and I love it!
I hate horror and loved this movie. This was a horror comedy (as described by google) and think the comedy was great. Megan is an icon. She is the moment 💅🏽
Best Terminator Prequel Ever!
😂
T3 underrated
2:14 There is an entire horror game themed around Furbies. It's called Tattletail.
I love this movie. It is campy, and they know its campy, everyone knows it. And im here for it all. Im ready for M3GAN 2 - Electric Boogaloo.
I got to meet the Australian dancer who plays Meggan (she was the one chasing the boy on all fours) at a horror con last year. She's actually a very nice girl. She and her choreographer created the "Meggan dance" that blew up on TikTok.
All the girls at the con were cosplaying as Meggan.
I met Jenna Davis last year in Texas. The actress who did the voice for M3GAN. The physical work was done by 12 year old actress Amie Donald.
"Why not just disassemble her?"
No! No disassemble Megan 3!
The movie is one of the few horror movies I've seen that actually got me to tear up at one point. Such a good movie.
Sometimes a campy horror movie is better than one that isn't (at least to me). I enjoy movies that have a hint of the ridiculous, and horror movies that know they're ridiculous and don't take themselves too seriously can be a ton of fun to watch. ^^
M3gan is gateway horror for kids and teens. They went for PG 13 horror. Like 5 Nights at Freddy's. There is going to be a spinoff with an adult doll that will be hard R
Remember to consider the target audience of the movie Natalie! You talked a lot about not knowing what the director was going for with the tone and how it wasn't as scary as you thought it would be, but that's because this is what's known as a "Gateway horror". There's really not a lot nowadays, so it's refreshing to see a director actually make one.
Gateway horrors are PG-13 rated horror movies made with the intention of getting teenagers into the slasher genre without scarring or traumatizing them with actual disturbing content. M3GAN especially was shot with this in mind, and edited with even more humor and teenage accessibility after the producers realized what a viral marketing hit it was with tik tok dances.
Gateway horror isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, you need it every couple of years to keep general audiences interested in more intense horrors. But like you said, it does fall a bit flatter for the seasoned horror aficionados. But we know what we're getting into as soon as we see the PG-13 rating on a horror movie.
It was rated R, then money hungry executives forced it to pg 13 to get more money
@@danmancino22 And then they make more money with the rated R home release (digital/physical).
But that's not necessarily a bad thing. With plenty of families having cut the cable, it's a lot less likely that kids are going to stumble across horror movies on TV. I remember being a kid and watching "Halloween 2" on a Sunday morning while my parents slept in. With streaming and parental controls that's something that's a lot less likely to happen. So when they grow up they are much less prepared for those kinds of movies.
M3gan is like an internet connected tiny Terminator and I can't wait until part 2 comes out.
Amie Donald was the 12yo New Zealand actress who played Megan, and her choreography was taught by her dance teacher, Kylie Norris
This movie was way better than I expected it to be. I didn't see it til I got the DVD(unrated edition ftw), and I was pleasantly surprised. That said, you're thinking of 'Smart House' Nat, a Disney Channel classic! M3GAN was actually played by two actresses: Amie Donald was the physical performance(she's a dancer, gymnast, and actress), while up and coming singer/actress Jenna Davis supplied the vocal performance. There was also a puppet version for close up shots.
Move over Chucky, there's a new doll haunting our nightmares and her name is M3GAN.
you just know we're getting a crossover movie with them eventually...
Sorry, but M3GAN will NEVER be better than Chucky. M3GAN is just defective due to Human error and stupidity, It's not HER fault; Chucky is diabolical by CHOICE. There isn't even a comparison. Plus, there's a ARMY of Chucky's and Tiffany's
Love the subtle ‘GlaDOS’ vocal harmonics when M3GAN gets angry…
One movie in a (broadly) similar genre (in terms of an AI/virtual reality-based villain) worth checking out is VIRTUOSITY (1995) starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. Absolutely bonkers movie, and really enjoyable.
The loading logo at the beginning of the movie works really well you're watching it at home.
"Did you guys ever play with dolls as a kid"
Looks over at my shelf of action figures
"... Nope" 😂
I appreciate you and thank you for making content.
9:32 because that dog is a threat to everyone in the neighborhood, and it actually is running around free... as it was to be seen when they first arrived...
13:57 the mother is the same as the lady with her agressive dog...
I got lucky and knew nothing about this movie going into the theater. Such a great feeling when taking a chance on a film you know nothing about turns out to be a banger lol
I was at a festival here in Indy and the top cosplays are Batman, Megan, power rangers, and Harley Quinn. This movie is very good
The Black Phone next!
It shouldn't be a surprise that this movie was well received. Camp and horror are like PB&J.
This movie is just fun. It could've turned out really bad but everything came together really well.
One of the few "horror/scary" movies I've gone to see on purpose
Apart from being an obvious doll/ toy related horror film. M3GAN also has lots of psycholgical depths that are really interesting...if you re-watch it a few times you see some really interesting things about the characters. I'll mention a few:
The Parents: they clearly cared about the daughter but notice it was actually a toy from the company that resulted in the accident that led to their death (irony much).
The Aunt: a workaholic, clearly highly devoted to her job and that means she doesn't understand kids or how to be a parent figure...this creates an alienation feeling between her and her niece.
M3GAN: technically she is designed to be the perfect friend...but removing her safety measures so she can;t be shut down if something goes wrong...was a big mistake.
Bonding: normally a child who loses her parents would develop an attachment to her next relative...but the niece isn't doing that...she has an unhealthy attachment to MEGAN because MEGAN feels to real.
As a boy growing up in the late 70s/early 80s, I had Micronaut figures (boys would NEVER call them "dolls" 😆)
I think I had a Steve Austin 6 Million Dollar (!!) Man figure in the mid 70s.
My daughter had a few standard Barbie type dolls until she was about 10 and then she was done with dolls/figures.
All in all Doll type toys did not play a large part in my mor my daughter's growing up years.
And after seeing a Night Gallery re-run about a possessed assassin doll, I was definitely done with anything remotely "life-like".
It really is just a fun movie. 😂
I loved this movie - I don't place any value in jump scares and just want an interesting idea, regardless of genre, and this definitely was.
I love this movie. Not really scary in a horror sense, but deliciously fun.
I watched Child’s play when I was 5. I was scared of dolls for YEARS. I’m 28 now and I own a Chucky doll now :)
Me myself also scared of dolls as a whole. I’m glad I even survived watching this movie lol.
This was so good love a comedy horror movie and excited for the sequel
I forgot what movie I was watching in the theater when the trailer came out but OMG I was dying hysterically, laughing so hard everyone around the theater was laughing too but I was laughing the hardest. The trailer was ridiculous. It look like something out of key and Peele or a Saturday night live sketch.
This was clearly a nod to Child's Play which was super campy and borderline funny
This movie was way better than I expected
*The moment Nat said: "Privilege revoked", most if we said that to our parents, would've fcking ended likee Katie after her accident*
The scary thing about this movie for me is the technology addiction and dependency. That is terrifying and will only become more of an issue given the way things are going.
The same writer wrote Malignant. You should definitely check it out during Halloween season. It’s even more campy and absurd. I love it so much!
In Tv tropes:the nightmare fuel category says that it was actually canon and that M3gan killed Brandon due to how cruel, abusive, and dirty and bad f word minded he now was,he could have grown up to become a terrorist minded serial killer that was prevented and instead already sent to hell where it belongs!
The camp is the point! I love this movie. It knows exactly what it is.
Singer+ Jenna Davis, who does M3gan's voice was was asked to sing badly for M3gan (per JD). JD actually has an excellent singing voice.
Unrelated: There' a silly-fun movie called They Call Me Bruce and a sequel called They Still Call Me Bruce. fyi.
Love your commentary. You are so funny.😂❤❤❤
Loved the intro! :D
Honestly, I'd lovee to see Nat react to more campy horror movies like this, this was so much fun to watch with you even though ive seen this movie like 4 times. 💕
broooooo I'm quite happy to see you did a reaction for M3GAN 😂 in at the intro so let's see what's up! thanks for this 🙏
That movie is almost perfection!!
This movie is kind of like The Cabin In The Woods type of horror. Its more horror themed than actually horror. xD
I’ll always remember watching this movie the first time bc me and my roommates pirated it and watched it at 1am the night before the semester started. We ended up with 7 or 8 people crammed into our tiny living room and it’s a miracle we didn’t get in trouble with our RA with all the noise we were making lmao.
The campiness is what made it great! I felt the same way about that Sting spider movie that came out earlier this year. Campy and horrific and gory. So fun. Great reaction!
The great thing about this movie is that, for someone who knows a bit about machine learning algorithms, the writers did their homework.
Totally unrelated but this haircut is working for you!!! I’m obsessed. So cute.
Yeah, this is more Evil Dead-style horror than 'actual' horror. Which isn't a bad thing.
This was a fun movie. One thing I might bring up, about the sound design that Natalie commented on. The movie was mixed for ATMOS sound systems, so many of the things she noticed while watching wearing headphones may make more sense in a home theater where you have the rear and overhead speakers.
The campiness is very intentional. I think it's officially considered a Horror Comedy. Also since you notice that Megan is not actually gone I'm fairly sure that Megan 2 has already been confirmed.
"Time to grab a drink grab a snack"
But I don't have snaackkksss😢😢😢😢
One thing I can tell you that will explain why this movie is how it was, the writer lives movies like "Demon Knight", and I love her for it.
One thing I find interesting is that it's clear that M3gan wasn't trying to kill the two assistants. She intentionally made sure that she was only distracting/slowing them and not hurting them much.
Sting, about a girl who finds a wee spider that arrived on a meteorite and raises it as a pet. It's a horror movie, you won't be laughing. October is 3 months away, it would be a great Halloween themed reaction.
It addressed a lot of modern issues creatively.
This movie definitely took me off guard with how good it was, it’s the same reason I enjoyed and watched the new Chucky movie child’s play as I much preferred it being an AI version versus a possessed version. Another unrated movie that you should maybe watch is called small soldiers and is about toys that got military grade chips that made them come to life and it was made in 1998 with Kristen Dunst
Fun fact, there is a toy company (NECA) that is making a life-size megan doll.
Your videos always make my day! 💯🫡
One of the best of all time intro activitie Natalie got me cracking up
Its campy but it knows its campy, which makes it more fun. It doesn't try too hard either direction - it knows what it is, and has fun, and tells an interesting story that is not always predictable.
To be honest, M3GAN is fairly derivative of Child’s Play and the whole Chucky franchise as well as the Spielberg/Kubrick collaboration: A.I. Artificial Intelligence. The latter was an underrated classic in my view - much more interesting!
you are correct. megan was acted by 2 people. one of them was a 9 or 10 year old girl who was very flexible and a dancer.
Its the perfect campy scary movie laughed so much when war hing, love ya nat❤
This was a fun movie.
That intro though 😂🔥🔥
The one part that bothered me the most was that Cadys guardian you could tell she disnt want to be a guardian. But as soon as M3GAN got all of Cadys attention she stepped up to the plate almost pit of jealousy.
Now i understand why she did it. Cady didnt process her emotions at all and basically moved on like it didnt happen at all.
But M3GAN shouldve been installed with some basic rules or protocols. Like the I Robot rules for example.
Overall awesome movie ❤
