Geez Creeker... Such a beauty Dalton just laying out there like that. Shining in the sun like she was just waiting for you. I'm in awe. That must have been about as exhilarating as exhilarating gets. Like defying impossible odds. One of the sweetest Daltons ever made, tumbling and bouncing around in what had to be a point death, rock crusher environment, yet it comes through it without a scratch. You know if you really think it through, that's close to some kind of a miracle. A wafer-thin point with a perfect tip, shoulders, both corners of the base, razor straight blade sides with bevels feathered out to fine, sharp delicate edges... survives in a creek full of nothing but ugly rocks, without suffering so much as a single significant ding (I couldn't see any dings period) Hahaha Man, you must be living right, with a guardian angel watching your back !!! No kidding, I think it borders on the supernatural. Good for a man's faith to see good things coming to good people like that... And I'd bet everyone who knows you would agree with me that nobody deserves such a wondrous thing happening to them more than you. lol
Thank, Gary! That's the third whole Dalton I've found, at this place, and all three are quite different, in material, size and style. Rumor has it, there have been many others found there, but I've only seen a couple of them. If it came out where I think it did, it surfed almost 200 yards down the creek, before landing on that gravel, at the outer end of a long bend. I've waded the whole stretch many times...some hard and soft mud bottom, but it made it through plenty of rocks too. I'm pretty much still in awe it made it unscathed myself. Posted more close-up pics and vid on some of the FB groups yesterday. And no...you can't have it!
Well done, Sir. Thanks for sharing with us. I have seen you find the most incredible Daltons laying right on top through these years. You are truly blessed.
Dang KK, haven't seen you posting any big old quartzy Kisatchies lately... What... Mama don't allow you to go hunting anymore?? haha, just joshing buddy... Keep on keeping on !!
That Dalton speaks volumes about itself. As a knapper I can learn so much about a Dalton that was made, used, and resharpened. Awesome find CD! Those other two points aren't bad either, you had yourself quite a day there.
WOW!!! Congrats on an awesome hunt!!! What an amazing Dalton! That searcy was sure made outa some killer material! Killer pull on that smith as well!! Thanks for making the vid! Happy Hunting!
Hey Tules, how are ya ??? Haven't seen you posting any killer finds in forever... are your ditches all froze over... or do you need to just get off the couch and get out there scoring some more killers... Man Creeker is kicking your ass !!! lol
Hate to try to put a dollar value on it, as I don't sell personal finds. Priceless to me. Been hunting 38 years and it's one of my best finds ever. Eventually, it'll be worth whatever someone is willing to give for it, after I'm dead and gone.
Man, that Dalton doesn’t even look creek-tumbled-what a beauty! Quick question: is the one you’re calling a “Smith” also called a Calf’s Creek further west? I’m from Ohio and there’s all kinds of regional names for points so I am just wondering if they’re one in the same or a completely different type? Thanks for posting! Keep your powder dry!

That is a wonderful looking Dalton! Just laying there. Very nice
I've always wondered how points like that Dalton can survive so well tumbling amongst all those rocks in a creek. Very nice finds
They usually don't look like that, but every once in a while you catch one that just fell in and hasn't traveled far

No. Smith and Calf are two different types. Calf Creek is older, usually very thin and has deeper, narrower notches
